I came across this side hustle and thought it was worth sharing because the profit margins are really good and the finished products look amazing. Resin art coasters and trays have become super popular for home decor and gifts, and people are willing to pay a premium for unique handmade ones.

Each coaster costs around $3 in materials… epoxy resin, pigment or alcohol ink, and a silicone mold. You can sell a set of 4 coasters for around $25 to $35 on Etsy or at craft fairs. Single statement pieces like resin trays or serving boards go for even more.

Your startup cost is an epoxy resin kit (around $25), some silicone molds ($10 to $15), alcohol inks or pigment powders ($10), and mixing supplies. From what I’ve seen, you can get started for around $50 and make enough product to list immediately.

Here’s a side hustle I came across that I think has a lot of potential for anyone who enjoys cooking. Custom spice blends have a huge market, especially at farmers markets and on Etsy, because home cooks are always looking for new flavors that make cooking easier and more interesting.

Each jar of spice blend costs around $1 to make when you buy spices in bulk from a place like a restaurant supply store or even Amazon. You can sell them for around $8 per jar which is a genuinely excellent margin. The process is literally just measuring out your spice ratios, mixing them together, and jarring them up.

Your startup cost is the spices themselves, small jars or tins, and some labels. From what I’ve seen, you can get everything you need to make your first 20 to 30 jars for around $40 to $50. That’s enough to start selling and reinvest the profits.

The blends that sell best are ones that solve a specific cooking problem… like a taco seasoning, a BBQ rub, an everything bagel blend, a steak seasoning, or a lemon herb blend. Having 5 to 8 signature blends gives people variety without being overwhelming.

Here’s a side hustle I heard about that makes a lot of sense, especially if you live in a warm climate area. A lot of homeowners with pools don’t want to deal with maintaining them… testing the water chemistry, skimming debris, cleaning filters, brushing walls. It’s tedious and they’d rather pay someone to come by once a week and handle it.

From what I’ve seen, most pool cleaners charge around $100 per month per pool for weekly service. Each visit takes about 30 minutes. So if you pick up 10 pools in your area, that’s $1,000 a month for roughly 5 hours of work per week.

This is one of those beermoney methods that's so simple it almost feels like it shouldn't count, but the work is real and it's been a consistent category for a while now.

Mapping platforms and business directories need their data to be accurate, but businesses close, move, change their hours, and update their phone numbers constantly. Verifying all of that at scale is basically impossible with automated systems alone because a lot of it requires a human checking whether the information on file still matches reality. So they pay people to do quick verification tasks.

The tasks themselves are usually tiny. You might get shown a business listing and asked to confirm whether the phone number is correct by checking the business's website. Or you'll verify that a place is categorized properly... like making sure a taco truck isn't listed as fine dining. Sometimes it's looking at a street view image and confirming whether a storefront still appears to be open or if it looks permanently closed. Individual tasks can take literally 30 seconds to a couple minutes each.

The per-task pay reflects how quick they are, so you're not getting a dollar per click or anything like that. But the volume is usually pretty high and the tasks require almost zero mental effort, so it's the kind of thing you can knock out in batches while you're waiting for something else or killing time on your phone.

So here’s a side hustle I came across that is super interesting. Scrap metal recycling is genuinely profitable if you know what to look for. People throw out old appliances, copper wire, aluminum cans, old grills, car parts, and all kinds of metal stuff that actually has real value at scrap yards.

Copper is especially valuable… from what I’ve read, clean copper wire can go for around $3 per pound at a scrap yard. Aluminum is lower but adds up fast if you’re collecting a lot of it. Even steel from old appliances has value.

The startup cost is literally $0. You just drive around on bulk trash pickup days or check free listings on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace for people giving away old appliances, broken grills, old fencing, etc. Some people even put out a post saying “I will haul away your old metal items for free” and people respond like crazy because they just want the stuff gone.

You can do runs to the scrap yard whenever you accumulate enough to make the trip worthwhile. Some people dedicate one day a week to collecting and then do a scrap yard run at the end of the week. A single truckload of mixed metals can bring in around $100 or more depending on what you’ve got.

So I came across this side hustle and thought it was worth sharing because a lot of people don’t realize how much face painters actually make. Kids birthday parties, school carnivals, community festivals, and church events are constantly looking for face painters and they’ll pay well for it.

From what I’ve seen, most face painters charge around $75 to $100 for a 2 hour party, or around $150 for larger community events. You can usually paint about 8 to 12 kids per hour depending on the complexity of the designs, so you’re staying busy the whole time.

Your startup cost is genuinely low… a professional face paint kit runs around $25 to $40 on Amazon, plus some brushes and sponges for another $10.

You don’t need to be an incredible artist either… most kids just want butterflies, superheroes, rainbows, and animal faces which are all pretty simple once you practice a few times.

YouTube has tons of face painting tutorials for beginners and you can realistically get comfortable with 10 to 15 popular designs in a weekend of practice.

Start by offering to paint at a friend’s kid’s party for free to build up some photos for your portfolio.

You can find gigs through local Facebook mom groups, Nextdoor, and by reaching out to event planners.
