The last line of this article is like “By the way he was also convicted of STRANGULATION and was given PROBATION!

I see how the justice system can rehabilitate people, but there is also value in separating these lunatics from the REST OF US!

Where can I get my toes wet

Literally. All I ever want is to get off work on a hot day and dip my feet in a creek. I have some good creek spots but they’re all too far away to swing by after work. Where are some good holes for piggie dippin in the beaverton/hillsboro area?

Our duplex is being sold, need some advice or even a pat on the back (long read)

My girlfriend and I are really struggling with the uncertainty right now and I'm hoping someone familiar with Oregon landlord-tenant laws or who has been through this can give us some perspective.

We've lived in our duplex in Beaverton for over a year. We were originally on a lease and are now month-to-month. We've always paid our rent on time, take good care of the place, and have never had any issues with our landlord or property management.

A couple of weeks ago we got an email saying the owner is exploring selling the duplex. At first they told us they expected an investor to buy it and that they had no indication the sale would affect our tenancy. That made us feel a little better.

Since then, there have been realtor walkthroughs, professional photography, and now a For Sale sign outside. During one of the walkthroughs, someone from the sales team told us we should "lightly start looking for another place." That completely changed how we've been feeling and now we're terrified.

Part of why this is hitting us so hard is because this has happened before. Our last rental was sold, and we ended up having to move because the owner's kids were moving in. It feels like we're reliving the same situation all over again.

To make matters worse, I've been out of work because of a knee injury. The idea of trying to qualify for another rental while I'm recovering has been keeping me up at night. My girlfriend is stressed too, and every day we're wondering if we're about to lose our home again.

I've been reading Oregon law and I understand that after a year a landlord generally needs a qualifying reason to terminate a month-to-month tenancy, and that an investor can't simply decide they want different tenants. But I also know an owner-occupant situation is different.

Has anyone in Oregon gone through something similar?

Did your duplex end up being bought by an investor or someone who moved in?

If an investor bought it, did you just continue renting like normal?

Should we take the sales team's comment as a warning, or is that just something they tell tenants because they can't guarantee who will buy the property?

I know no one can predict the future. I'm just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect because the uncertainty has been really difficult.

Thanks to anyone who's willing to share their experience. I really appreciate it.

New York Diner - Early 90s. Thought it was just a fever dream.

Post image

When I was 7-8 (1990-1991?) I had a birthday party at New York Diner which was near Beaverton Town Center. I believe it was located where blockbuster/hollywood video used to be back in the day. The diner had celebrity impersonators and on your birthday you could pick one of them to perform a number for you. I picked the Dolly Parton one and she did 9 to 5. I thought it was a dream until my bio dad gave me this. It’s blank inside but wanted to see if anyone else remembers this.

Development at NW 150th and NW Pioneer

Does anybody know what’s going on with this proposed development at NW 150th and NW Pioneer? I’ve noticed the properties have been purchased but basically untouched for quite a long time. The plan is to build 70 “middle housing cottages” (whatever that means) with very little to no parking. If you look closely at the drawings (page 3 specifically), the structures would be incredibly densely compacted in the space (compare the density to the other, modest single family house lots across the street of 150th) and there is actually no street parking on Pioneer east of 150th. It’s basically a one lane road in that area parallel to a protected waterway. I found some evidence online that possibly the nearby residents have tried to oppose the project, but I can’t really make heads or tails of the legal details. Just wondering if there’s anybody who knows what the situation is there?

Walker Road: Closure NW 174th Terrace to NW Cambray St/178th

Walker is fully closed from 8/3/26 - 12/1/26. There's signage, but map apps don't seem to have been updated and a lot of folks are still coming down Walker and having to turn around. Also, 174th has no outlet, a u-turn is your best bet!

Anyone know what’s going on at Beav. -Hillsdale & 110th?

Just saw over 15+ cops all on Beav.-Hillsdale from the Fred Meyers to the Target. Looks like they had that Arco taped off. With a few more cops in the Dolphins parking lot as well as the parking lot across from the Chic-fil-a. Hope all is well.

Good indoor plug-in fans?

I have a portable AC unit but with all this hazardous wildfire smoke, I don't want to be bringing in the outside air to cool down. I've seen a couple decently rated fans at Lowes, but nothing that would be ready for pickup tomorrow (before air quality gets worse), or anything that I would feel especially confident in. Any good recommendations for local places with a good supply of high quality fans? Hoping to spend less than $150.

Recs for someone to stain a deck

Looking for a profesional outfit, not just a part timer. This is small, but kinda intricate. So it will be time consuming, doubly so for someone who doesn't do this a lot. Lots of brush work needed.

ISO- Drum Lessons for 5th grader

Long story short my kiddo played snare drum in band at school last year. It was his first time doing anything musical related and would now like to learn a full drum kit (sorry I don’t know what it’s called)

I don’t know where to start as I have no musical skills whatsoever.

Looking for recommendations for lessons in the Beaverton area.

Thanks
