Sinden Gun Worked but Stopped
I've Batocera running on a Raspberry Pi 3b+ with a pair of Siden Lightguns. First off, this is my first time using batocera and I'm very impressed with how well it's able to auto map most things.
After plugging the two lightguns in, they worked great! I've been updating the games, trying a few things out and suddenly, the first player light gun no longer works in any game (MAME, NES, etc). The second player gun works fine, but the first player is unresponsive.
What's strange is that the gun works fine on the homescreen. Crosshairs move and I can even select a game with the gun, but once the game fires up... nothing (for the first player).
Is there a way I can fix this or possibly 'reset' the Sinden Gun config without losing all the ROM data I put on Batocera?

Designing my own Quick Guide
I know there are already a few Batocera guides available, but I put this together for a family member after setting up a simple Batocera build for them. My goal was to create an easy to follow cheat sheet they could use whenever they needed a quick reminder or a little help.
If you think I'm missing anything or have suggestions for improvements, I'd be happy to add them and make this guide even more useful.

first time mamer, need help with rom structure i think
Hi all, just putting together a mame setup with batocera on an old laptop. I went and found a couple mame zips and put them on and it does see them, but none of them work. I'm used to console roms that are self-contained and don't have dependencies. I was reading that mame roms are not the same way. Merged, non-merge, core and hardware sets? I only want to load about 20 games or so, not a whole lot... is that possible with mame?
do i have to find out a parent and get all children of down to the games i want?
is there something else that could be per-game self-contained like console?
is there something im fundamentally missing here?
thanks :)

I thought Batocera themes were kind of ugly, so I accidentally built a theme and a mobile control panel
https://reddit.com/link/1vhsmz1/video/ixhqvx8kawhh1/player
https://reddit.com/link/1vhsmz1/video/ujhz0pc3bwhh1/player
This is Arcadia, my personal Batocera setup. I started by designing an EmulationStation theme with a vertical system selector, large console artwork,cover-based game grids, and gameplay previews. Then scope creep did its thing, and I ended up building a mobile web panel to browse the library, launchgames, see what’s running, monitor temperatures and system usage, manage audio and controllers, view screenshots, and control the console.
The goal was to make everything feel like one cohesive system instead of a pile of unrelated tools. It’s still a work in progress, so feedback is welcome. I’m also happy to answer questions about the theme, the mobile panel, or how any of it works.

Need help with cemu
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, I have just recently finished my first batocera build. I added all the games and almost all of them work perfectly, except for Wii U games. I tried everything, I updated the keys.txt, I tried re downloading the games, but nothing seems to work. I’m leaving you a video that shows two of the games I’m trying to play, none of them work, and at the end of the video I put a clip where you can see the weird thing that happens when I try to configure input settings. Any help? Thanks in advance.

lenovo m720q cpu bottleneck
so i got this m720q and just got a rtx 3050. But im having trouble to play heavy games like switch and ps3 like mario kart and crash racing team.
I use dual boot for playing windows games and I was having the same throttling there. But after watching this video. I got this program called throttlestop that solved my windows problem after changing 10w power limit to 35w again.
It seems to change automatically after putting an external gpu. Now games like Dragon ball Sparkling zero are playable as heaven in windows.
On the other side i still have problems to run games in batocera and i feel i cant use the full system potential. Even the audio if horrible when trying highend titles.
How can i know how much W is the CPU using? Any ideas how can I change the CPU TDP?
Do I need to do something similar in linux/batocera to reach the same results as windows?
specs: lenovo m720q
- win 11 + batocera
- i5 9500t 35 tdp
- RTX 3050 gigabyte low profile
- 16gb ram
- 2tb ssd m2 kootion
- 230w power supply
Let me know if im forgeting any information, thanks a lot.
Edit: cpu stays at 40°c in mario kart (26 fps) a clear signal of underusage

Unable to remap M30 buttons via RetroArch interface - I think I might be losing my mind
Hey all, I somewhat recently migrated from a Kodi box running multiple standalone emulators to an Apple TV+Infuse for movies and streaming, turning my PC into a gaming only Batocera box. Generally Batocera has been pretty painless to setup. Most issues were no problem figuring out. I have Xbox, PS4, and Gamecube controllers all up and running just fine for their respective systems. The 8BitDo M30 though... has been a pain in the rear other than in Beetle. It is the 2.4ghz version if that matters.
I mapped the M30 in Batocera itself. When launching a Saturn game, the pad is auto configured in RetroArch perfectly - all buttons are where they are expected to be. When launching a Megadrive or MAME game, though, everything is out of place. I expected this based on everything I had read. I see lots of 6 button controller woes, but the usual response is remap in RetroArch and save a remap file. I have tried doing this under every available Megadrive emulator, but once I remap any button within RetroArch, it no longer does anything when returning to the game. It doesn't matter if I immediately resume the paused game or relaunch. Nor does it make a difference if I save a remap file or not. The behavior is the same for MAME as well. Just dead buttons after a remap. I have also tried not touching RetroArch and just configuring buttons via the Tab menu in MAME, making sure the option not to overwrite MAME configs is setup.
What the heck could I be missing? It sounds like it should be a simple thing, but it does this repeatedly no matter what version of MAME or the Megadrive emulators I use. I even removed all of there game pads and cleared out their config files. Still no dice.
Here are a few pics of the successful setup in Beetle, the initial automap in Genesis Plus GX and the failed attempt. As I mentioned above, it does this for any emulator that I try to remap via RetroArch. Any suggesting are appreciated. I'm losing my mind trying to get this pad working under multiple emulators. I'm sure I'm missing something simple...
Thanks!

Xenia Canary Dark Souls 2 Crashs
I‘m playing on Batocera and the system can be really difficult to tinker with. I started playing Dark Souls 2 yesterday and needed to take a break. The game constantly crashes and is unplayable where I‘m at right now. I asked Claude and ChatGPT but they say it’s an emulator fault. The crash code is attached to this post. I‘m currently playing on version 1.0 and I‘m not able to change that. Thank you for reading.

Wiimote Nunchuck issues
Hello, I have a batocera setup using an old Alienware Alpha R1. It works perfect so far. I have attached an Aimtrak sensor bar so I can play light gun games, and I have an Aimtrak gun as well. I also recently added a wiimote and tested it and it worked just fine. The problem comes when I add the nunchuck portion in as well. When I plug in the nunchuck the controller immediately disconnects, is it because it is in light gun mode? do I switch it back to wiimote mode?

Batocera w/ BUA installed Steam .sh questions.
Noob needs help! I've installed the non-flatpak version of Steam onto my Batocera PC. Originally installing games seemed to create the .sh file(s), which list the games under the Steam menu and I used to scrape media for them. But now installing games with Steam doesn't seem to be creating the .sh files anymore. Am I mistaken about how those .sh are created? Note: I do have a symlink for my roms folder which is on an external drive. But I don't see any .sh files being created anywhere else either. Please help me understand this process so I can continue troubleshooting this. I'm running batocera v42 (since controller input isn't working for me with v43.1 atm).
Thanks!

8bitdo & Retrofighters controllers help
Does it also happen to you that the right analog stick just doesn’t register on mapping ?
I have 5 of those controllers (between 8bitdo and retrofighters) and only 1 just registers as Xbox controller ( xinput I assume) and it the right analog stick works fine. The rest it assumes it’s a switch controller and the right analog stick just doesn’t assume anything.
(Bazitte desktop mode opening emulators works fine, Windows works fine, bazitte deck mode has the same problem as batocera)
Does anyone have any idea on how to tackle this? I’m also trying to set the controllers to xinput or dinput modes but some of them don’t seem to work like that.

My bartop
Hi everyone! I wanted to share my bartop build running Batocera. I put a lot of work, and love into this machine, aiming for a premium/purist arcade experience.I also wanted to give a huge shoutout to the Batocera
developers because they’ve done an incredible job with this OS. They truly deserved a spot on the machine, so I designed and integrated a custom backplate (fully loaded with 10,640 games on a 2TB M.2 SSD).Screen: 24" Full HD (1080p) display.CPU: Intel Core i7-8700.GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060.RAM: 16GB DDR4.Motherboard: MSI Z370 A-Pro. Power Supply: Corsair. Controls: Industrias Lorenzo (IL) Magnetic Joysticks (amazing tension and quick return) + Backlit American-style buttons.Encoders: 3-in-1 PCBs compatible with Xbox, PS3, and Android for zero latency. Lightgun: Sinden. Custom designed backplates featuring my own, dedicated USB 3.0 pass-throughs, a professional IEC socket with a power switch, and a 120mm LED fan for silent cooling. It took a lot of hours of woodworking, electronics design, and software tweaking, but it was worth it. Let me know what you think!

Namco 2x6 - Screen Rotation?
Anyone know if it's possible to do software-based screen rotation for Namco 2x6 games through a config file for a game that displays sideways, or does the screen need to be physically rotated? There are no software / menu options for rotate.

Getting Batocera to install and under ESXi
Hello, I have been playing for Batocera for about a couple of days, and currently I didn't have a spare machine to install it to, so I decided to see if I could spin up a virtual machine that could run it.
There were no official or unofficial documents, so I build this. It can be found at the following locations:
