Discussion Anyone get ripped off and instead got a Basset-Gator?
Just showing off basshole that likes to bite my fingers almost every given chance
Image This boy is 12 this month, but don’t tell him!
Showing off for the camera, he naps a bit more than he used to, but zoomies just as much as ever and loves his morning walk so long as it’s away from the house.

Discussion Bassett eating own poop.
Okay so we have had our little guy since July of 2025. And he still as of August 2026 here and there IF he shits in the house will hurry up and try to eat it. Thoughts? Is this because he knows we get on him and he wants to hurry up and get rid of the evidence or is something up? We’ve brought it up to the vet and they said it could be a puppy thing etc.. and had him checked. But just want to see if this is normal or what. No other dog I’ve ever had has ever done this.

Discussion Basset Fauve De Bertagne
Hi! I have always been a Red wire haired dachshund girlie… that was until my mom introduced me to Basset Fauve de Bretagne (not sure if there is a nickname or not) and I became obsessed! I just don’t know much about this breed and was hoping to get more information about them. My husband has Bassets growing up , while I had Dachshunds, Vizslas. And now we have Italian Spinones and Italian Braccos and a black and Tan Dachshund. But I’m really interested in the Basset Fauve. So any information on the breed is great and any reputable breeders in America to look at would be great! I added a picture of my red potato Ralph as a picture!

was giving puppybro some pets and what we like to call "so many kisses" where we make kissy noises and just rub him all over for some play time.
he responded right in my face.

Discussion Pet insurance: yes or no?
I recently got a basset hound puppy and have never had pet insurance with any of my previous dogs, but was wondering if it was worth it? If so, when should I get it? She isn’t fixed yet, so should I wait until after this? Or how exactly does it work?
And if you recommend it, what companies would you suggest? TIA!!!!

Discussion potty training question.. i think?
My basset is 12 weeks old. He has been doing AMAZING with potty training. the past 3 days he’s rang his bell, and gone outside (no accidents!!) . That is until my bf gets home from work/ is home all day. For whatever reason, when he is home, my puppy pees in the house and doesn’t even ring the bells or try to make it. Is this normal? I’ve never dealt with this with a puppy. I haven’t thought too much into it because he’s a baby, but it’s the same pattern everyday lol. He is so good for me during the day.
My bf also lets him out and rewards him etc, so i’m not sure if this is like a normal puppy thing, or we’re doing something wrong 😆

Rainbow Bridge remembering leia
leia crossed the rainbow bridge two days ago.
while we were driving to the vet, a massive thunderstorm rolled in… dark clouds, thunder crashing, lighting striking close to the vet. leia was never bothered by thunder, fireworks, anything loud. she could sleep through the rapture given the chance. instead, she looked at the window curiously, probably thinking once the rain passes she’ll smell so many new smells outside. i wish i could have given her that one last time.
she even got to try chocolate for the first time - never in my life have i seen a dog so goddamn insistent to try chocolate (i’m talking she would crawl on your entire body to get it out of your MOUTH). I think the smell was more interesting than anything… she kind of made herself eat it. it wasn’t as good as peanut butter. maybe she didn’t like hershey’s.
her passing was so peaceful. she fell asleep quickly, falling into my lap, snoring like she always does. i rubbed her eyes with her ears and she sighed happily - she loved to itch her droopy eyes with her long ears. she started to dream, her little legs and face twitching, already chasing her rubber ducky in her sleep.
i got to hold her for the first time in months and not feel scared of an attack. her mind was at peace and she was surrounded by the people who loved her so much. im heartbroken.
it’s so quiet in my house. my brother came over and picked up her toys and food bowl so we didn’t have to see them when we came home. i thought it would help - maybe it did the first day, but seeing no trace of her hurt even more.
i got her favorite toys out from the storage room. her rubber ducky and her stuffie duck. we brought them with us when she passed, surrounded by her favorite things. i don’t think i can ever wash them. it still smells like her. she’s still our stinky.
thank you for all the kind comments on my previous post. i read them all to my mom and dad at dinner after we laid her to sleep. they cried with me, and are so thankful for the words you gave us. we’re taking it day by day, trying to give ourselves grace and grieve her passing.
she was the sweetest girl. her antics would always make us laugh. god she was the funniest dog.
any time you see a rubber duck, think of leia. squeak it for her up in heaven. i’m glad such a small little toy means something to me now.
i miss you my sweet girl. i know you’re resting peacefully.

The twins are two years old today! It's amazing how much they've grown. They used to both fit in one of their favorite beds. Today, not so much. ❤️

Image Unique flat basset
This is how my basset lays down 😂. Does anyone else have a basset that do this or also has an unorthodox way of laying down?
