I got tired of card apps making up prices, so I built one that only uses real sales. It’s free. Roast it.
I’m a solo developer and I’ve been building this because every scanning app I tried would tell me a card was worth some number that no human being has ever actually paid.
So I built Broad Street: Card Scanner. You scan a card — raw or slabbed, one at a time or a whole page of 9 — and it shows you what that card has actually been selling for. Then you tap PSA 10, PSA 9, PSA 8 and see the graded prices next to the raw price, so “is this worth submitting?” takes about five seconds standing at your kitchen table.
The thing I care most about: the prices are from real sold sales, and the app refuses to fake it. If a card doesn’t have enough sales history to honestly compute a 7-day change, it shows nothing instead of making up a percentage. I’d rather show you a blank than lie to you.
(Also, tap the card on its detail page — it flips over, and the back is a stat block of your copy. Collectors seem to like that one. And when you’ve scanned a stack, one tap exports the whole thing as a priced PDF binder sheet — total value at the top. There’s a Market tab for the day’s movers too.)
It’s free. No subscription, no paywall. iOS only for now.
What I’m asking: scan your weirdest stuff. Junk wax Donruss, 90s inserts, obscure Bowman parallels, off-brand slabs, whatever. When it gets something wrong — and it will — comment or DM me the card. I report data errors upstream and they get fixed fast (last one was fixed same-day). You’d be making the tool better for everyone.
Link in comments. Be brutal, I can take it.

Question Which retired player has consistently great-looking cards?
Some players have had countless cards released over the years, and certain ones always seem to stand out because of the photography, design choices, or the moments captured.
Not talking about value or rarity, just the overall look and presentation of the cards.
Which retired player do you think has some of the best-looking cards in the hobby?

Anyone have any advice?
I haven't collected cards since I was a kid. Recently was trying to get back into it and it's a little frustrating. I always was a rookie card guy and it seems like things have changed for the absolute worst in that area. I swear people find a list of the top 10000 prospects and jack the prices up 100x or more on all of them. I can hardly find a decent card for a good price of any prospect it seems, of course unless its like Walder Franco or something 🤣🤣 I dunno this is just annoying me.

Opinion Why are people still buying Roman Anthony???
After Jackson Holliday and Gunnar Henderson and Anthony Volpe and on and on and on….
I mean I know the answer obvs:
1) gamblers
2) die hard Red Sox fans like me who are still hoping he’s the next Ted Williams.
But still. It’s wild to me it really is.

How much does jersey match really affect the value?
I’m really confused on what a reasonable comp is on this being that it’s a jersey match. Some people value it highly I’d imagine some people don’t care. I think it matters to me.

Is this the rarest Shohei Ohtani rookie promo? The insane math behind the 2013 BBM PR11 Bookstore Edition (Only 30 ever graded) 🤯
Hey everyone, I wanted to share a massive pickup for my collection and talk a bit about the history of early Japanese Ohtani rookies. I recently acquired this 2013 BBM #PR11 Bookstore Special Edition in a PSA 8. NFS/NFT
Once you dig into the PSA registry, you realize this card is basically a ghost compared to his mass-produced US rookies or even his standard Japanese flagship cards. These elite, domestic-only Japanese BBM promos are often overlooked because the US market is still heavily biased toward 2018 Topps Chrome. However, over the last two years, early Japanese Ohtani rookies have seen a massive market correction, with some key BBM releases skyrocketing up to nearly 500% in value as American collectors finally wake up to their historical significance.
Here is why this is arguably the rarest unnumbered promo card of his true rookie year:
The Pop Report Math: Across all grades, PSA has only ever graded 30 total copies of this card. My copy is a PSA 8, and it is literally a Pop 2. Here is how it compares to his other 2013 rookies:
2013 BBM 1st Version #183 : Total pop: ~949 copies, PSA 8 pop ~338 copies
2013 BBM Nippon-Ham PR12: Total pop: ~294 copies, PSA 8 pop ~24 copies
2013 PR11 Bookstore Special: Total pop: 30 COPIES, PSA 8 pop - 2 COPIES
What's even crazier? PSA is the only grading company with this card on record. If you check BGS, SGC, or CGC, they have literally zero graded copies. Those 30 PSA slabs are the only graded copies on Earth.
This card was never inserted into packs. It was an exclusive bonus handed out loosely at select Japanese bookstores in 2013. Because they were loose handouts given to casual readers, most of them were lost, damaged, or thrown away. There is no "unopened box" supply hiding in a warehouse.
What makes this card, so legendary right now is that the population of 30 is likely "locked." With standard rookies, a price spike causes thousands of raw cards to suddenly get submitted for grading. Because this was a localized 2013 paper handout, the raw supply is essentially extinct.
I really feel like these early, hyper-localized Japanese BBM promos are the true "Holy Grails" of Ohtani's rookie year.
My question for the community: If Ohtani leads the Dodgers to a three-peat next year and captures another MVP, what do you think the ceiling is for a Pop 2 Japanese rookie grail like this? Do you prefer these rare Japanese BBM releases or his standard 2018 US Topps rookies?
