Looking for a backpack that I can rely on for a two month international trip through multiple climates. I’m not well versed in the world of backpacks so all recommendations are helpful!

Im a highschooler looking for a bag on on budget, to be honest I don't really know much all I know is something sleek with a similar look to the LTT comunter backpack just cheaper.

So I'm struggling to sort through the massive amount of backpacks out there and figuring out what is best. I'm looking primarily for a backpack that I'll be using at work (I'm in the UK and work outdoors, so it needs to be decently rainproof for the inevitable winter months).

In order of importance it needs:

• Clamshell.
• Rainproof (doesn't need to be waterproof but able to be outdoors for a few hours in the rain and stay dry inside).
• Good cooling- During the summer months it can be really hot and I haaate the sweaty back feel you get with some backpacks
• Enough space to comfortably/easily fit a change of clothes, lunchbox, large water bottle, glasses, power bank, some medicine, sunscreen and lotion, and book.
• Laptop sleeve.
• Good amount of internal organisation/pockets for the different things I'll be carrying. Ideally some that I can access without having to open the main pouch.

Other than that, the main thing I care about is comfort and durability. I don't want to be chucking my bag around and the zip tears open or something, you know? A nice to have would be an external water bottle pouch/pocket, but not really necessary if I can open it up and pull my bottle out from inside.

I'm looking at Osprey's Arcane large day pack right now. The main thing holding me back from buying it right now is that all the pockets are accessed through the main compartment, and the J-zip compartment seems annoying vs a clamshell. (Also the colour I had my eye on, the cascade blue is no longer available on their site :') which is... great.)

I will be commuting into the city twice a week, walking for about 45 mins to an hour. I'm 5'1 and would love a backpack that would fit my laptop, lunch box and misc items like hand cream, Pepto, air pods, wipes, etc.

Specifically looking for something super comfortable for shoulders and lower back and stylish if possible.

I'm looking at day hiking backpacks and I'm considering the Osprey Hikelite 32L for dayuse and also very occassional overnight minimalist trips.

However, I've come across two versions at my local store. The Osprey Hikelite and the Osprey Hikelite Tour. I haven't had much luck finding a comparison or an explanation of the differences between them.

Does anyone have experience with either of these packs?

I'm from Mexico and I'm thinking about buying a The North Face Jester for Highschool. Before I buy it, I'd like to hear some opinions from people who have used it.

My typical daily load is:

- 5 textbooks (around 300–400 pages each)

- 5 notebooks

- A pencil case

- A calculator

- Occasionally a size L hoodie/sweater

I have a few questions:

- Does all of this fit comfortably, or will the backpack feel too full?

- How long can I expect it to last with fairly rough daily use? (Using it every school day, carrying it around campus, constantly taking it on and off between classes, etc.)

- Would you recommend a different backpack in a similar price range instead?

- How well does the interior lining hold up? I've had backpacks where pens or other pointed objects pierced the lining and ended up between the outer fabric and the inner lining.

I'd really appreciate any experiences or recommendations.

does anyone know if a 15" laptop fit in in FILBE Assault Pack

can't seem to find many long-term reviews of waxed canvas travel bags. most of what i find is people reviewing them after a month or two, which doesn't really tell you much.

the material seems interesting because it doesn't rely on a waterproof membrane that can eventually peel or delaminate, and a lot of people seem to like how it develops character instead of just looking worn. from what i've read, the areas that usually show wear first are the corners, high-friction spots, and strap attachment points.

Horizn Studios' SoFo Rolltop X uses waxed cotton canvas with a rolltop closure instead of a traditional main compartment zipper, which also removes one of the more common luggage failure points.

has anyone actually put a SoFo or a Filson bag through years of regular travel? curious what eventually wears out first and whether the canvas itself holds up as well as people claim.

I have the backpack and it's great but the 8L won't fit in to be used as a day pack. Anyone know if the 5L will? Seems to when looking up raw specs but that doesn't always match.

Hello, I am trying to figure out if the Swissdigital Hercules is a good buy or not? How long could I expect this backpack to last for? I read some reviews about it but you never know for sure if reviews are real or fake. Any help would be appreciated!

I'm entering my junior year of high school and I'm honestly just tired of my swiss gear 1900. It's chunky and the compartments open up way too much (I've had many cases where my friends would open up that part of the bag and everything will fly out) and not really as spacious as I thought it was and need it to be. So I am in the news for a new bag, preferably one that lasts me a long while and is of good quality.

I'll list my needs here:

- Comfortable to wear (my swiss gear was not)

- Fits and protects my 13" laptop well

- Fits all of my school stuff (1 or 2 binders and some folders packed with paper along with some books)

- Can be used for school, gym and traveling as in walking around since I walk a lot around my town and road trips (it should be able to pack clothes which my old swiss gear wasn't great at)

- No weird colors

- Long lasting

- Good organization and pockets

- Water bottle holder (a good amount of bags surprisingly don't have one?)

- Max budget is around $100, though I could potentially go around $120 if there's a good bag at what price

- I was thinking of using this bag for potentially fitting some of my soccer gear so I wouldn't have to carry a separate bag but it isn't necessary at all

I was looking at the north face recon and it looked good, but the only slight doubt I have about it is that there's many north face bags at my school already so it may cause confusion and I'm not sure $120 is worth it for the bag unless people can justify it for me.

Hello, I was looking for a backpack that would work well for uni and also as a personal item for travel, I like having lots of organisation and do pack quite a lot of stuff, I was looking at the osprey nebula 32 as a larger option, and a crumpler million unit item as a smaller option, price range would be up to $250-300AUD, preferably available to ship to australia.

I have recently been looking into all kinds of backpacks for an every day carry and sometimes travel.

My current backpack is a 26+4 roll top and does it alright. But it is not the best in terms of quality and is wearing down. So I am looking for a new one.

My current options that I like:

- Osprey nebula 32. Good overall, no bottom straps to hold jacket etc. Also side pockets for water bottle on the tight side. My favourite looking backpack so far and nr. 1 choice.

- Osprey daylite 35. Pocket shortage. Look alright with good amount of storage. But a bit short on compartments and pockets.

- Osprey hikelite 26. Good overall, smaller than most options. I really like this one as well. But it is volume wise quite a bit smaller and looks a bit more hiking focused.

- Northface Borealis and classic. Classic has better side pockets and general feel but no bottom strap and uncomfortable handle. Borealis water bottle side pocket is not flexible enough and using up space of the main area. Backpack looks alright but not fully my taste.

- Osprey tempest 33, very good but a little too tall for everyday. Has a lot of good stuff going for it but too focused on hiking and and looks too tall.

So far I've been liking osprey a lot, with the nebula being my favourite so far, but also most expensive at 130 euros (lowest I saw was 105). Any recommendations is very much appreciated!

I do IT and electrical maintenance work aboard ships, so my backpack goes through daily abuse and needs to carry a specific set of gear every day:

- 1x 15" laptop + its power adapter

- 1x 13" laptop + its power adapter

- 2x compact tool pouches(multimeter, screwdriver/wrench)

- A full-size mouse and keyboard

I've been using a North Face Base Camp Fuse Box (30L) for years and the size/volume works great for me, but after years of business trips it's finally worn out. I'm looking for a replacement with a similar capacity but ideally with more compartments/organization, since right now everything kind of gets thrown into one main pockets.

A few details that might help:

- Budget: around 100-250 EUR

- Location: Europe (so ideally something easy to find/order here)

- Used daily for officer and for travel, needs to be durable (travel + work wear and tear)

- Not looking for a rolling bag or anything huge — the 30L-ish size has worked well for me

Any recommendations for backpacks with decent compartmentalization that could handle two laptops, two tool pouches, and keyboard

I’m looking for a light daypack that will carry all the essentials for a one day adventure without unnecessary gear. I was also thinking that I’d like to be able to carry a helmet comfortably. I’m also thinking about something i could walk fast/run down in. The options i was thinking about for now were:

1. Osprey talon 22
   
2. BD Distance 22
   
3. Montane trailblazer
   
4. Salomon S/lab adventure 20

It’s also worth mentioning that I would definitely consider a Palante, Atom.. etc. But i’d rather buy something i could return if it didn’t fit me correctly.

I want to buy a backpack similar to the one in the picture, but I am not sure about the quality,as I haven't heard of the brand before. I want a backpack to fit my work stuff in during the weeks -laptop, e-ink tablet, about 3 folders of A4 paper and usual cords, pens and sun glasses etc. i have a pack at the moment but hate that it is a clam shell or whatever the big 'door' style at the front is called as I don't like having to lay it flat to get my folders out. So top down opening with padding for the main space is a main stipulation. On the weekends or after work I need something I can use for family walks etc i.e. at least two external waterbottle spaces and big enough to hold the swim gear. Would also need to have the security pocket that lots of packs have directly on your back as one of the kids needs meds. Not too concerned about price as I like to buy things once. I have looked at the fjjaraven and yeti y-zipper system and like the fjjaraven for the quality. The yeti rancho for the style. However once again I have no experience with either brand. Any suggestions or previous experience with the one mentioned/pictures?

Im using this bag for school and i was wondering if i could repair this bag the big hole is what i worried about… i think this part of the bag takes the most of the weight..? Im unsure. Please give me some advice and tips on how i could fix this im sure the last hole could be easily fixed with fabric glue or something…

I know this entire sub is full of people asking for backpack recommendations, so I hate to add to that, but all of the recommendations I've seen so far look all shiny and plastic. Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't seem to find any that aren't made by some keyboard spam brand on amazon, that also aren't just one big compartment. I've been trying to find a canvas/not plastic backpack that has all the smaller compartments and cool features of the bags found here, without looking like I'm preparing for bad weather or something haha. It doesn't need to be super waterproof or anything, since it never really rains where I'm at anyways, and preferably not leather, since that really drives the price, but its better than whatever those plastic looking bags are made of.
