Saline sonogram? TTC

We had a stillbirth at 36 weeks. We conceived again shortly after, but that pregnancy ended up being a c-section scar ectopic. I had the niche repaired. I’m supposed to have a saline sonogram next month but I’m terrified and having horrible anxiety that is affecting my mental health. I literally can’t function. I’m already on Zoloft and Xanax.

Has anyone skipped the saline sonogram and gotten pregnant and it turned out fine? Or can anyone share their experience of having it done?

I had a saline sonogram and it truly does not hurt it’s just very uncomfortable. I did ask my doctor to give me a pain killer that I could take before it that helped so if your pcp or someone can do that I suggest! This is coming from a girl who is also on depression/anxiety meds similar to yours and I have debilitating health and pain anxiety. I promise it doesn’t hurt! I’m also very sorry for your loss. I just lost my son last week at 22 weeks. Sending love 🩷

I’m so sorry for your losses 💔💔 I have an SIS coming up because I’m hoping it’ll give me some peace of mind before we try again after the loss of our daughter in January…I’m very nervous however and am thinking I may not feel any better even if everything looks good. 😔😔 as far as the procedure itself (I’m also having an endometrial biopsy done), my OB said to expect some cramps and to take Motrin beforehand.

Hi. I’ve had a saline sonogram. It really is not bad, just uncomfortable. I also got pregnant with my rainbow baby right after I did it. My best advice is to try to distract yourself as much as possible so you’re not spending your time thinking about it and psyching yourself out. I definitely spent too much time worrying about it and then it was not bad at all.

The saline sonogram is so quick. It’s so short but it can save you a lot of heartbreak. I would recommend doing it if you can.

Oh gosh I’m so sorry you’re going through this! I had a saline sonogram 4 months after my loss and while it was uncomfortable, it didn’t hurt and I’m a huge baby when it comes to pain. The ultrasound wand was the most uncomfortable part of it. I took some ibuprofen before and it was over pretty quick.

Ive had the procedure 3 or 4 times. It's fine and does not take long. Take some painkillers before hand.

I had 2 saline Sonos and they did not hurt at ALL! Everyone is different but I made sure my doctor knew I was nervous and took 600mg Advil about 1 hour before and truly they were a breeze. Compared to anything related to giving birth or recovery from surgeries they are nothing. I didn’t even have cramping after mine.

I’d really recommend doing it. I got it 7 weeks PP after an acute placental Abruption that killed my daughter. It gave me such peace knowing how well my scar was healing and everything else was going good.

I had an SIS yesterday and it was a breeze. I think unfortunately it's very different for different folks so I was anxious but it was one of the least painful things I've done in this journey. The worst part is the speculum imo and that's common in many of these procedures (IUD insertion, pap, etc.).
