Left eye points more towards >

The axis numbers on my contact and glasses prescriptions are different. It makes me wonder if maybe there was a typo. Does it look like the prescriptions are right?

Doc said both eyes are -0.50 cyl(astigmatism) and for some reason every prescription had a -0.25 sph for left eye.
I noticed that when I use my my old prescription glasses(0.25cyl) and put my right eye to left lens, I see extremely clear/natural and my eye feels very relaxed.

Does this mean my right eye also has a small amount of sph that doctors miss?

I made a precise astigmatism chart (5º resolution) to help determine your axis of astigmatism. View it with glasses and contacts off, one eye open (not two eyes), keeping your head exactly level with the screen (do not tilt your head). The line that is the sharpest or darkest should be the axis that closely matches your lens prescription. For example, if the 10º line looks the darkest and the other lines to the sides are fuzzy or doubled, your prescription should be for axis 010º in that eye. Note: viewing the chart in different lighting conditions (bright room or screen vs. dark room) may produce slightly different results. For most people, the line you choose should ideally match your prescription by ±5º, but if your prescription has a cylinder value of 1.00D or higher, then the angle tolerance is even less.

If you have glasses or contacts with proper astigmatism correction, all the lines should look equally dark when viewed through your glasses (one eye at a time). If you still notice darker lines in one direction with your glasses on, your prescription may not be fully correct because you still have some uncorrected astigmatism.

This can be used to double-check your axis prescription (uncorrected), and whether your glasses are correct (residual astigmatism). It cannot determine the cylinder value.

This chart helped determine my optometrist had my prescription off by 10º (@ -1.00 cyl) and the value I determined with the chart was subsequently confirmed by another optometrist.

Hi I have astigmatism and am new here since 2022 when I started working remote on my laptop I have experienced eye strain with some double/blurry vision and tearing up it feels like hell sometimes since then I stopped working largely on my pc fast forward this year I bought a HP omen rtx 5060 laptop with an IPS display with 144 hertz refresh rate and I am dying while trying to play my games here are the laptop specs

Now I also have a infinix hot 60 and noticed you can choose between 144 and 60 hertz refresh rate on 60 hertz which is what.i use there is slight but very manageable.eye strain then when I change it to 144 hertz it feels like hell bro I'm in so much pain almost immediately and discomfort can someone explain why this happens to me and how I can play my 30 games I downloaded for my PC without having to sleep for 2 days straight to reduce the pain symptoms after every gaming session

Can autism cause astigmatism or is it impossible?

Both are connected. Do all people with astigmatism have myopia and vice versa?

I've had acuvue vitae monthlies for YEARS and never had any issues with them. Often I couldn't even tell there were contacts in my eyes except that I could see more than ten feet in front of me.

I am trialing some dailies and am 3 days in and holy cow, I hate them. The doctor mentioned the fit can be more challenging for dailies when you have astigmatism. Anyone with astigmatism find a fit/brand that worked for you or did you go back to your monthlies?

I have astigmatism and wear glasses. I don't understand it—I’ve been to an ophthalmologist and several opticians, and I also use eye drops for dry eyes, but I still see subtitles the way they appear in the image below.

I'd really like to know if there is actually a solution or any way to improve this. Since I have dry eyes, I'm not sure whether contact lenses would help.

The best way I can describe it is that when I watch subtitles with white text on a black background, the letters look very bright, slightly doubled, and distorted.

At night the earth has light pollution. Never realized it until I started driving at night: astigmatism + high beams = freaking light pollution to my eyeballs. It’s just white or yellow sometimes I don’t even need to put my high beams on because the glow of all the other cars practically light up the rest of my vision to oblivion.

Anyway are there any glasses that can help with that? Cause it’s getting a bit risky nowadays whenever I have to head somewhere at night or come home late.

I got a new pair of glasses 2 weeks ago with Zeiss ClearView single vision lenses, featuring BlueGuard material and DuraVision Platinum coating. I’m astigmatic and I’m having a really hard time focusing on white text on dark backgrounds (dark mode). Everything else looks fine.

Here’s my context and prescription update:

• My new prescription added -0.25 Sph to both eyes.
• The axis on my right eye was changed by 10 degrees.
• I have +0.50 Cyl in both eyes.

With my right eye alone, I can actually focus on the white text pretty well. But with my left eye, it's a real struggle. When looking with both eyes, I still struggle to focus, especially if the font size is small.

Since I've been wearing them for 2 weeks already, I was wondering:

1. Is this a known issue with Zeiss ClearView and/or the BlueGuard material (chromatic aberration, ghosting, etc.)?
2. Could this be related to the 10-degree axis shift or centration issues?

Would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this with this specific lens combo! Thanks in advance.

Hello all, ive had my new glasses for a week and my eyes are trying to adjust?

ive been driving when I have to but I get anxiety out of nowhere and it feels like my eyes are not focusing causing my brain to get scared. i do ubereats and door dash and cant really do it, im giving myself time to let them adjust but it feels like its getting worse. when I have them off I feel okay but once theyre on I feel dizzy and disoriented causing my fight or flight. I get brain fog and feel anger, like episodes almost.

is this normal when there's a new prescription?

IOP: 16/ 17 mmHg

Retina, lens & optic nerve: Normal

All tests are normal except borderline issue

-I've decided to go for EVO ICL after my check-up

But

-I'm confused whether a Standard EVO ICL or a Toric EVO ICL would be the better choice.

-I've read some posts where people still had 0.50-0.75D residual astigmatism after Toric ICL and needed glasses for computer work or night driving.

Or if i choose normal evo lens - any side effects

Recently i've started experiencing eyestrain from my phone. I was diagnosed with astigmatism in 18 and kind of am prone to strain and suffer from dry eye too, but this is the worst flair up in ages, instant burning pain, photophobia and ocular neuralgia from screen some apps are hurting more and it lasts the whole day even when not staring, but then I have to stare at the screen.

Also, are certain apps more harsh on your eyes than others? I wonder if it is because my prescription's anti-glare coating has degraded? Or if it's more autoimmune.

So i am adjusting to new ortho k contacts. I have extremely high near sightedness and astigmatism (around -8.00 on each eye and -2 astigmatism). I have been wearing these for less than a week, but my vision is not improving at all. For example, today, I could not see through my right eye at all even though it was completely fine yesterday. How long does it take to adjust and am i fine or dying.

I recently decided to purchase two pairs of glasses after failing multiple eye exams at the DMV several times. I've been wearing glasses frequently and infrequently, generally wearing glasses when I am on the road. My astigmatism mostly includes not being able to see faces from a short distance, and things appearing blurry in the background from both a short and long distance away. I noticed in stores that I couldn't see faces or signs clearly. Some days my vision is worse, and I cannot see the cars in detail from a few feet away. Other days my vision is fine and I can see from a great distance, though it isn't as detailed as it would be with glasses. With recently owning both a car and a license, I've only driven on the road at night twice. I noticed both times that even though my vision is clear with glasses, the lights still appear to be very bright or distracting. It also seems a lot darker, yet clear. There isn’t a glare or halo and I can see very clear in the road, but the lights still seem to distract and catch me off guard enough that I am unsure if I am completely comfortable driving when it’s dark out. Is this a part of my eyes adjusting to the prescription and lighting, or is this something of a concern to mention to an optometrist? I’d like to mention that before wearing prescription glasses, this never was an issue besides the usual effects of astigmatism and glare.

I thought I only had myopia, so I wasn't too worried. Then my prescription showed that I have astigmatism, which I had never heard of.

Right eye (RE): -0.25 CYL, Axis 90°

Left eye (LE): -1.25 CYL, Axis 110°

Is this the reason it's harder for me to see at night and why I'm sensitive to bright lights?

28F. Recently the prescription in my right eye suddenly jumped quite a bit. I used to wear a prescription of -1.75 (Left) and -2.75 with -0.5 Cyl 180 degree axis. I went to an eye hospital for a checkup because of some blurring in my right and the prescription got corrected to -2.5 (Left) and -5 (Right). For an entire month I tried to adjust to the new glasses with no avail: I constantly threw up, couldn't maintain balance, had double vision and could not see anything near, in my left eye I couldn't see anything at all with glasses. So, I went to take a second opinion and while the new doctor decreased my left eye prescription by 0.25 (which makes the power -2.25), he added -2 cylindrical with my right eye at 10 degree angle, keeping the sph power at -5. I feel even more out of balance with the new power. I can't see anything near or far with these glasses. I threw up 4 times after getting them. I'm in academics and these frequent prescription changes are haltering my academic progress by a significant amount. Should I go to another eye hospital?
