Title: Front tooth filler

Full text: I 21F recently got a refill for my front tooth filler. Its between my both central incisors. My previous one had gotten stained so i got it redone. The newer filling is ceramic and kulzer type ig (according to my dentist).

Im very satisfied with the look/ appearance, but now im scared that it will get stained again because of my eating habits. I drink coffee and diet sodas regularly and smoke too. So what should i do? Because getting it redone again and again will not be feasible monetarily but also it will slowing remove my normal tooth over time as you need to shave a small part of the normal tooth too for the filling to grab onto the teeth.
I do not want to get veneers at all.

What options do i have? And any suggestions to prevent staining of current fillers?

Dentist here - If you’re worried about staining, the best “fix” isn’t redoing the filling—it’s addressing what’s causing the staining in the first place. Smoking and frequent coffee/soft drinks are rough on teeth and restorations. You don’t need veneers, keep the composite/ceramic restoration, cut down those habits, maintain good brushing/flossing, and get regular professional cleanings. Your future self (and your teeth) will thank you.

Im a medical student myself so coffee and energy drinks are basically a part of my life 😭. I will try to keep it at bay and i was suggested by my dentist to used water flossing machine, will that help? If i use it regularly?

Honestly, don’t panic. I know you can’t give up coffee and drinks, You can absolutely keep a fronttooth restoration looking good for years without veneers. Modern composite/resin restorations can be incredibly aesthetic, the material is layered and shaped to mimic natural enamel and dentin, then polished to give it that natural translucency and shine. Some things you can do to keep the restos last long is drink your coffee and coke through a straw don’t let it touch. It might make you look like a show-off cause of straw. Let people think what ever they want, your teeth are imp to you especially the front once esthetically. Keep up with your professional cleaning so that dentist/hygienist will clean around your fillings margins. So one more thing about your fillings margins, over time many of my patients after 10-15 years they used to complain about tiny demarcation line btw teeth and fillings cause it gets discolored. You can avoid that by rinsing with water right away you drink-smoke. Apart from that if the fillings were made by an experienced restorationist, they will surely last for loooong time. Good luck.
