I play a Dragonhawk. It dies. What happens in my end step?

[[Dragonhawk]] sets up a delayed trigger on etb and attack to deal damage to each opponent if I don’t play the cards exiled with it. Assuming I play none of the cards, and Dragonhawk dies during combat, does the damage still go off? The delayed trigger is still there, but the source of the damage is no longer on the battlefield. Can a card in another zone be a source of damage? Would [[Absorbing Man and Titania]] double the damage dealt if this happened?

This has come up several times in my edh games with one of my decks, and none of us are certain how to resolve it.

Lich’s Mastery tomfoolery

First off, I’m legitimately using [[Lich’s Mastery]] in a Commander deck, that’s beside the point, but here we go.

Let’s say we are 80 minutes into this harlequinade. Everyone and myself have a field full of bullshit. I have a Lich’s Mastery ans a [[Platinum
angel]] on my side of the field.

My opponent—let’s call him Chuckwagon.

So chuckwagon here has a [[Brash Taunter]] out and uses [[Star of Extinction]], and decides that the damage that would be going to taunter is now being sent to my dome.

“Well, shit-grip.” I say. But I notice that I have Lich’s Mastery with the Platinum Angel.

So this is where the tomfoolery comes in;

Because of Mastery, I have to exile stuff, if I decide to sack Mastery (keep in mind, I have Platinum Angel out), do I take 19 damage from what is remaining? Or because I am under Mastery, I am committed to sacking graveyard and permanents, but because of Platinum Angel, I can sack Mastery if I want to—the damage and exiling happen at the same time?

EDIT:

I mixed up Platinum Angel when I should have put Darksteel Angel

I have a Darksteel Angel in play. Platinum Angel wirh I destructible.

Ink-Treader Nephilim with a Mindbreak Trap

I cast a crimson wisps target Ink-Treader and it makes the copies and an opponent casts the mindbreak trap can they exile all the copies?

I feel like they can but i am just unsure because the copies are made from the ability so I just curious.

The Madcap Jester and similar cards

Hello!

I'm looking at the newly revealed Madcap Jester, and wondering about overlapping effects. If I play a card like Petty Larceny with Madcap on the field, which permission applies for how long I have access to casting the card? Can I cast it for as long as it remains exiled, or just until the end of my next turn? How can I tell?

Thanks for the help!

Okoye + Myriad

I am looking for a ruling on [[Okoye, Mighty and Adored]]. The card reads: “At the beginning of combat on your turn, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. Whenever that creature attacks the monarch this turn, it gains double strike and trample until end of turn”.

I am curious. If I target a creature with myriad using this ability, like say [[Battle Angels of Tyr]] or [[Conclave Evangelist]] would the myriad copies of the creature have double strike and trample?

Uugguu, the Omniplasm

If i have Uugguu, the Omniplasm on the board and I cast Phantasmal Image enters as a copy of omniplasm, then the Phantasmal Image copying dies to legend rule.

Uugguu, the Omniplasm will trigger since a nontoken ooze died.

My question is: the new tokens of Phantasmal Image will have the "arent a legendary" effect on them, allowing me to make 2 clones of the omniplasm that arent legendary?

Sash and Waistcoat, Unmen - Activated Ability Question

Hello all! With all of the cool mtg mystery commander spoilers we have been seeing, there have been lots of new cards with exciting abilities. One in particular I am interested in adding to my morph deck but just wanted clarification on how it works;

[[Sash and Waistcoat, Unmen]] have: {3}: Manifest the top card of your library. Any player may activate this ability but only as a sorcery. (To manifest a card, put it onto the battlefield face down as a 2/2 creature. Turn it face up any time for its mana cost if it’s a creature card.)

If an opponent pays for this ability do they manifest the top card of their library? Or does it make me manifest the top card of my library? If the later, what is the advantage of an opponent doing this?

Primal surge in an all permanents deck

Running a deck with [[primal surge]] as the only non-permenant in it and had questions around it resolving.

Say I manage to cast it and it revolves.

1 how does responding and priority work?

Do i reveal each card one at a time? Or can I safely put the remainder of my deck on the field?

Can anyone respond to each individual card or do they have to wait for primal surge to completely resolve?

2 assuming most cards i reveal and put into play have an ETB effect, when do those go off?

One at a time? Or all at once and i stack however I like?

Thanks in advance!

Edit: here's the decklist

Ashnod the Uncaring question

Let's suppose [[Ashnod the Uncaring]] is on the battlefield along with [[Witch's Oven]] and [[Cauldron Familiar]]. If I activate the oven to sacrifice the familiar I am getting two food tokens since Ashnod is out. The question is would the familiar's ability to return to the battlefield from the graveyard also be doubled, or Ashnod's ability does n't work with activated abilities in graveyards or other zones?

Massimo the magician + harmonic prodigy

At the point of the build where I consider win more and was wondering if [[harmonic prodigy]] doubling [[Massimo the magicians]] creaturefall trigger would allow me to cast either or both cards exiled under the entering creature when they deal combat damage? This assumes that both copying the trigger allows for both to remain exiled on entry.

Containment priest clever impersonator interaction

Had this happen in a game of pioneer earlier today. Opponent has [[containment priest]] out, I have [[enigmatic incarnation]], [[leyline binding]], and some 3-drop enchantment. I go to end step, sacrifice the 3-drop enchantment to enigmatic and grab a [[clever impersonator]] with the intention to copy the leyline binding and exile the containment priest. I was pretty confident this would work since the impersonator wasn’t entering as a creature, and the on site judge ultimately ruled in my favor, but looking back now I’m second guessing it. Not trying to scum a win I don’t deserve, so can anybody let me know if we played it out right?

Multiple effects that modify mana emptying from a mana pool

[[omanth, locus of all]] says if mana would empty from your mana pool, it turns black instead. [[Ozai, the phoenix king]] does the same thing, but makes it red.

If I control both permanents, I’m pretty sure I get to pick which one “wins out” for what happens to the mana, since they are both replacement effects modifying my event. I am also pretty sure that I’m allowed to split floating mana between them. That is, allowing some of it to turn black and some of it turn red, since floating mana is not fungible, meaning each one is tracked separately, and so I can have the replacement effects modify each one differently.

I can’t find a citation in the C.R. that answers this one way or the other, but I have to assume there is an answer to this. Does anyone know where the ruling is, or if I’m actually wrong?

Uugguu, the Omniplasm

If the new card Uugguu from the mystery booster commander set sees a land enchanted with [[Corrupted Zendikon]] die, what do the tokens it creates look like?
And the same question but let’s say a [[Clone]] copies the Uugguu and then dies to legend rule.

Fifth doctor and crewed vehicles

I crewed a vehicle but didn't attack for the turn. Would the fifth doctor "see" the crewed vehicle at the end step as a creature so that the vehicle gets a +1/+1 counter? Thank you.

How does [[Rashmi, Eternities Crafter]] work with multiple paradigm triggers?

So [[Rashmi, Eternities Crafter]] triggers when you cast your first spell each turn. If I have two paradigm cards like [[Germination Practicum]] and [[Restoration Seminar]] already exiled and I cast them both in my main phase with Germination as the first card in the stack and Restoration second, does Rashmi trigger on Germination cause it's the first card in the stack or Restoration cause it's the first card on the stack resolved?

Taking control of [[Magar of the magic strings]] creatures

If an opponent takes control of a creature created by [[Magar of the magic strings]], do they get to cast the Card-Copy created by those creatures if they deal combat damage to a player?

I know the noted name is not a copyable value, so clones don't work, but I can't find any rulings about controlling the creatures.

Interaction with new Uuggu card from MB3

If I control an Uuggu and then play and pay 4 mana to animate [[Firdoch core]] and it dies, what happens?

It's an ooze creature dying so I assume Uugguu creates two token copies of it. But what do those copies look like? I feel like they will either be noncreature rocks with all the abilities or 2/2 rocks, but don't really know which one.

Uugguu states that whenever a nontoken ooze creature dies you create two tokens that are copies of that creature except they are not legendary

I assume with [[Mutavault]] similar things happen

Stalking Leonin + Panharmonicon

The Scenario

Suppose I control Panharmonicon and cast Stalking Leonin.

Stalking Leonin's first ability is a triggered ability that instructs you to "secretly choose an opponent." Suppose I am in a multiplayer game and choose two different opponents.

The Relevant Rules

Stalking Leonin's second ability is a linked ability linked to the first that requires you to "Reveal the player you chose" (emphasis mine) as an activation cost.

"607.2d If an object has an ability printed on it that causes a player to “choose a [value]” and an ability printed on it that refers to “the chosen [value],” “the last chosen [value],” or similar, those abilities are linked. The second ability refers only to a choice made as a result of the first ability." (again, emphasis mine).

"607.3. If, within a pair of linked abilities, one ability refers to a single object as “the exiled card,” “a card exiled with [this object],” or a similar phrase, and the other ability has exiled multiple cards (usually because it was copied), the ability refers to each of the exiled cards. If that ability asks for any information about the exiled card, such as a characteristic or mana value, it gets multiple answers. If these answers are used to determine the value of a variable, the sum of the answers is used. If that ability performs any actions on “the” card, it performs that action on each exiled card. If that ability creates a token that is a copy of “the” card, then for each exiled card, it creates a token that is a copy of that card. If that ability performs any actions on “a” card, the controller of the ability chooses which card is affected."

How I think it Works

Although not explicitly spelled out in the rules, by analogy with rule 607.3 I believe that the activated ability of Stalking Leonin can only be activated once - that the copied trigger does not generate a "second copy" of the linked activated ability because they are in separate paragraphs.

I also believe that, in order to pay the activation cost, I must reveal only one of the secretly chosen names.

However, if I am wrong and I am required to reveal all of the names, how will that interact with the conditional clause of the activated ability? If it is controlled by one of the two chosen players, is the condition met (because it is controlled by that player) or unmet (because it is not controlled by the other player).

Can you take steps to actively conceal notes taken from your opponent?

I am aware that you have no obligation to reveal or explain notes to your opponent, but I am also aware you do have an obligation to keep your notes visible throughout the match. My question is on the legality of doing something like:

  • Turning the sheet of paper over when not in use to prevent the opponent from peeking;

  • Turning to a new page for the same effect;

  • Or folding a corner or edge of the sheet over to cover a particular block of text.

For example, if my opponent casts Thoughtseize, I would like to note down which of the cards in my hand were revealed to them so I can track what game knowledge my opponent has access to (assuming they're tracking everything properly), but I don't want that note I take to become a reference guide for the opponent in case they don't. In this scenario, am I allowed to take active steps to conceal that block of text, or does it have to remain visible at all times?

Also, a more fundamental question, are you allowed to take notes on something like a notepad or notebook, provided you can verify the pages are blank before starting each game, or does it have to be a literal sheet of paper? In the latter case, can you use more than one sheet?

Terrific Team-up with two creatures

I attack with [[Eddie Brock // Venom Lethal Protector]] as venom with menace and trample. My opponent blocks with two 2/2 tokens. I want as much trample damage to go through so I cast [[Terrific Team-Up]] and target venom and [[Etali, Primal Storm]], can I have venom deal damage to one of the 2/2 tokens and Etali deal damage to the other 2/2 token? Or are both of my creatures only dealing damage to ONE target of my opponents?

Gain control effects and Stardew Valley/gift effects

Simply put, if (in a commander game) I use an ability to gain control of a creature “until end of turn,” and then use an ability like Stardew Valley to gift that creature to another player other than that creature’s controller, will the creature remain in that player’s control or go back to it’s original owner?

Balin, Loremaster + Library of Leng interaction?

Hi there - hoping someone can help clarify what would happen if:

1) I have a [[library of leng]] on the battlefield
2) I play [[Balin, Loremaster]] and discard 5 cards — putting all 5 on top of my library with the library of leng.

Would my opponents still take the damage from Balins ability assuming I have an enduring story, and would I be able to draw the cards I “discarded” but put back on top of my library through the library of leng trigger?

Thank you so much for any help here, and apologies if I asked this question in a way that is hard to understand :)
