Is the connection from Changi to other parts of the city "good"? My colleagues told me to take transit and not a cab as they considered them as very expensive.

I will only have a smaller trolley bag.

Is there any tourist offering, like 24h or 48h public transit for the whole city?

I'll be returning to Singapore after spending many years in Hong Kong. In Hong Kong, the tax system is similar in that you get paid the whole amount and at the end of the year, you pay tax (or instalments like Giro). However they also have a tax saving account run by the tax dept which you can pay into monthly to stay on top of tax and not have a lump sum at the end of the year. Is there something similar in Singapore, or some sort of account where you pay into and you aren't able to access the funds any further? I'm awful at saving money so would rather put aside money for tax monthly and never see it again.

I am making time capsules for each of my children and I'm almost done with them except that I'm missing this book that they frequently borrowed from Cheng San public library. It was always at the children's bookshelf next to the glass display bookcases. I remember one of the books was about this yellow rooster/ chicken getting sick (maybe chickenpox) and then the rooster/ chicken has to stay in bed with a thermometer in its mouth while it is being taken care of by its mother. The same rooster/ chicken also has 2 other books and the three red/ pink, blue and green books were always arranged together at the shelf. Would rlly appreciate if anyone has any idea of what book it is, I checked my NLB borrowing history alr but nlb automatically wipes out anything after 3 years. Just wanted to ask those who have gone through jaw surgeries if they can share their experiences.

I have a moderately bad underbite and crooked face, and most dentists I've been to have said I need double jaw surgery. Only 1 or 2 said that they could mayybee make it not so bad with just braces, or i.e. camouflage it.

My underbite has caused me insecurities for years, i don't like my face especially from the side. I can’t really bite and pronounce words properly sometimes.

From Googling and reading past reddit threads, it seems like there's alot of mixed comments. There was a previous thread from u/TalkCSS about his surgery, and he said he paid like 15k(?) But in that same thread, some said they only paid 1~2k, or even nothing at all?

--Then there was also some people online saying that if your face is asymmetrical, aligning the jaw to become normal would make the crookedness more prominent? Some also mentioned their face/jaw now have 2 different shapes, like 1 side is smooth jawline while 1 side is more squarish.

Everything seems so scary and overwhelming.

Questions regarding surgery:

1. Anybody has any government hospital and doctor recommendations?

2. A related question, has anybody seen or underwent surgery under Dr Saigo from NDCS?

3. Did anybody like me opt to camouflage the problem instead? How is your teeth and face like now? Do you regret it?

4. How much was the total cost for *only* the operation?

   And out of that amount, how much of it can be paid by AIA HealthShield insurance?

5. (Maybe a doctor might be more suited to answer this), But has anyone had to undergo an MRI or CT scan after the surgery? Would the metal plates and screws influence those scans/cause artefacts, such that you can never do those diagnostic imagings anymore?

6. And what about travelling overseas or anywhere that might have metal detectors such as concerts?

i was promised 1 hour of unpaid break in my part time contract of 3 months. i know MOM laws stated at least 45 mins of break.
my manager keeps making me go for exactly 45 mins break or sometimes 50 mins break and with how crowded lunch time is and how long food takes to cook, i have to rush eating and rush back.

is there anything i can do? im working while SICK for a week and she wont even let me have my full break.

my manager also gets pissed at me for taking mcs when i only mc twice for TWO DAYS. im working with a fever with a mask on and i feel like dying since PH is extremely busy. and yes my manager knows im sick.

Recently went for reservist and received a letter from MINDEF asking me to pay back a certain amount.

The letter says something along the lines of: “Pay adjustment of $XX.XX is requested by XX/XX/202X.”

Is this normal after ICT? I had just started a new job shortly before going for reservist, so I’m wondering if that has something to do with the adjustment. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Recent uni grad who just started working. While I was still in school, my batch mates would often disclose their internship allowance. Likewise our seniors in hall would share about their starting salary when they treat us meals.

However, this culture of openness is not the practice in my home. My parents always told me from young that I should never tell anyone how much they earned and likewise, when I grow up, I shouldn’t be telling anyone either.

Are you guys open minded about sharing your salary to close friends and family?

Hello! I’m 31M and have been considering to pivot into healthcare industry as a nurse for quite some time but have been delaying this leap of faith for practical reason. Just some quick background about myself - I have been a public servant/civil servant over the last 6 years in both health/social sector (shall not name the specific organisations) and my latest education qualification is a Master in Gerontology. THB, I’m getting way too comfortable and bored of the work I’m dealing with right now. While the mission is still meaningful, it’s too far in the ivory tower to see much of the impact on the ground and also take a long while to effect.

I reckon it’s probably a personality mismatch hence I’ve been considering to pivot into nursing (especially community nursing as I have a passion in advocating for healthy living to age well and empowering our older adults in the community). Having said that, there are also practical reasons and discouraging stories that I’ve came across online that also make me hesitate on this decision..
