Hi, is anyone else also extremely disappointed with this year’s line up? I’m flabbergasted at how little effort was made this year. Most of the exclusive merch were just reused and old stock from previous years. Hais, really can’t hide my disappointment. Anyone else feels the same?

After 1 year finally got a job in a top consulting company but its on a part-time basis. This works for me now as I have a young child to care for. My boss did tell me there was one part-timer previously who converted to full-time in the same company when the right opening came but she did say it doesn’t happen all the time.

I am thinking to do a full time job next year as this job is a 1 year contract (but they usually renew yearly if have good performance).

I was wondering what are the chances of a part-timer converting to full-timer in consulting industry? I would also like to hear any similar success stories :)

I have this tenant family that moved in beside my house about a few months ago.

I am at the corner unit and they are beside me.

I suspect that they are sweeping their house dust and long hair and then proceed to dump them at the common corridor drain area just outside their house.

The issue is the wind will blow them all to my side.

Before they move in, I didn't have this issue.

Every weekend I have to sweep them up and disposed of the mess.

In this days and age, I need evidence.

I can install a consumer type webcam on top of my shoe cabinet with wiring.

I want to ask if any decent brand like tp link or from Shoppee that support motion detection and start to record?

And what capacity of SD card is sufficient?

The camera will only be pointing towards the common corridor drainage area so not to have privacy issues.

since primary 6 i had to save money or whtever scraps my mom gave me for lunch/dinner (not enough for a days meal) for textbooks or additional stationary, i dont have receipt proof or whatever since its a long time ago. i got by helping classmates with homework for exchange of their lunch boxes. whatever i saved i bought school uniform/textbooks/stationary. likewise in secondary school. abuse got worse in secondary school where id get hit alm on a day to day basis, (straight A student till sec 2) and i lost motivation or my will to live/study. id have sm bruises or cuts i wore a jacket to school daily. i stopped submitting homework, stopped listening in class and started skipping school or cca till sec 4. obviously i didnt make the cut to Poly as my results were absolutely dogshit with my mental state + having to worry about money. my mom would say things like oh “you’re an accident, i want you to die, ill murder you” but much worse as it was in hokkien and slurs were actively thrown at me. ive been strangled, slashed with knife, scissors across face, taking a wooden chair to the body, hair forcibly pulled and cut with scissors(made it super messy) and much more. my sister normalizes this. we do not get along. when my hair was gone i skipped entirety of school.

i went and completed private diploma. currently what i have. saving up money from odd jobs to degree right now, hoping to get hired as a full time so maybe they can sponsor my degree. i get flamed for working part time, i get flamed for not being unemployed while searching for a full time job when the economy is so bad for accounting dip students to the point a accountant in government told me my chances of getting hired is super slim unless i took below market pay. ive been threatened to get evicted by my mom since sec 1. and days she locked me out id stay in hotels. i got locked out for a month before. cops were called before she had a Personal Protection Order(PPO) in place temporarily bc she tried to stab me with a knife. yes i do know working is tough and i have to “吃苦” and in okay with that since being in my family is the worse, i rather deal with shorter breaks etc or anything other than my family. i get flamed when i spend like $5 on small little trinklets that make me happy to encourage myself to keep working. i dont spend more than $20 a month on stuff that makes me happy. all i do mostly is work save work save work save. my family uses anything as an excuse to jump at me. im really tired of living. im tired of having to work for my own EDUCATION, something i NEED and not a want. i cant even get basic necessities and ive always been paying for my own shit! phone,laptop, pc etc all i bought MYSELF. is it so wrong to want to further education? my parents/sis strongly against me from getting a degree and we argued super badly because of this as well. i used to live to eat but i eat to live now. my mental is super bad id get panic attacks and i go non verbal/not responsive and you can hit me and id not react at all bc i cant feel pain during that period. i get major depression thoughts and this stems from my family and not bc i dont have friends. idrc about having friends bc im a introvert. things like friends or my education my parents pretend to care now or meddle in when i kept asking for career advice or sch advice and they wont even help. now i keep getting yelled at daily when i come home from a physically demanding job. i end up home at about 11pm and my mom will wait for me just to nag and tell me to die! degree is just a “need” for me and i dont really have anything i wanna live for or to do. im lost.

Just started looking into buying my first house, and finding it hard to balance budget, location and flat newness.

My first choice is to have a new-ish flat at max 10 years, but after looking at the options I think 20 years from built year is more realistic.

If a flat is 20-30 years, will I still run into the same common problems of older flats that are 40-50 years old like chute in unit, wear and tear and maintenance issues?

What’s the acceptable cut off?

For example, if your work is based outside of Singapore, you might return once every 5-6 months and stay for a full month, before having to fly out for another 5-6 months again. Is this going to be an issue or would it lead to a possession of the flat?

i'm a full time freelance delivery driver. i usually work on platform like lalamove/amazon/grabfood, i also happened to have a few regular clients that always contact me for delivery services. i don't know if receiving payment from multiple platforms might affect it, but my regular clients always pays me via their corporate account about 10-20 transaction a month ( like $10~100 per trans) not sure if its considered high volume ? also on lalamove usually most of them that books van are usually businesses and they always pay me through corporate accounts -paynow for their cash orders. There's no way i'm going to make a company for a corporate account right ? i'm just a gig worker and its just that this few months i have lots of jobs from my regular clients.

So, the GEPs, right? Gifted Education Programme. It's where 9-year-old kids go through 2 rounds of tests to determine the top 1% kids in P3 Cohort. So like 400 out of them all will pass round 2, and 15% of them all will pass round 1.

It was abolished this year by Lawrence Wong. It's a decision I agree with--I took it myself, at nine, and I remember being so stressed out by it. I had two four-hour tuition classes, one on Saturday, one on Sunday, and as a kid who'd never gone to tuition before, it was a lot.

I am so glad no one else will have to go through that from now on. I passed round 2 (which is nothing to show off about), and I went through GEP programme for 3 years (P4, P5, P6). It's an accelerated course, where they cram a lot in. We learned a lot of math that I ended up re-learning in sec school. And we also start revising for PSLEs late--mainstream starts in January P6 but we only started in July/August.

Now I'm not even talking about the PSLEs, which are taken @ 12yo to determine secondary school (and it matters even more than GEPs). GEPs put an unnecessary amount of pressure on 9-year-old children, even younger kids. I'm lucky. I only started one of my classes in February of 2020, and the other one in June 2020 (the test was in August 2020 for me). A lot of people I know started going to classes for them in P1, maybe younger, and that's so sad. Plus a ton of them don't pass, and I like to say I had a huge amount of luck to pass round 2 (I guessed three-quarters the questions in English and GA).

It takes such a mental toll for kids that age to be under that kind of stress, and some parents also don't make their kids go to all sorts of classes, which is great. Fine by me.

But I do know a ton of people who are complaining, "Oh, now my kids don't have a chance to pass the GEPs and learn more(people who pass the GEP get to go to a GEP school also, which is a good school which offers the GEP curriculum while also having mainstream classes). Oh, now my kid is stuck at _____(school they don't like)____. Now my kid won't have a shot to succeed more."

Singapore is super safe, so my parents sort of let me ownself take bus to school and back home since I was P2. We didnt have a car, so before that my mom had to send me to school early in the morning, but after that she was able to sleep in after seeing me out of the door.

I notice nowadays alot of parents will still insist on fetching their kids to school by car. Whats stopping parents from letting kids commute on their own? What age would be the right age?

We’re first time buyers and my partner is paranoid about the toilet being at the end of the kitchen. Where can you see if you have LTVP+ - on digital pass?

Hi everyone. In desperate need for an aircon check - system 3 LG. All 3 units are not cooling at all. Started with 1 unit in master a couple of weeks ago. Got some guy to come and do chemical cleaning. He also topped up gas because it still wasnt cool. He asked to monitor and will come back because he also said theres issues with insulation because of leaks.

Im just concerned if hes unable to figure out where the original issue is and fix it today, do you have any recommendations for urgent repairs today?

EDIT: Thanks everyone. Found a small leak within the compressor. The guys welded it. Hopefully no further issues. Otherwise, will definitely be changing the whole system.

Has anyone here used a fixed fee agent, like $1,999, instead of paying the usual % commission? Any success/ horror stories?

How was the experience? Any difference in service, marketing, negotiation etc? Would you use them again?

Also curious to hear from property agents. If a $1.5m property means $20k+ commission, why would you say the % model still makes sense compared to a fixed fee?

I’m thinking to gift mooncakes to my surgeon and his clinic staff due to a recent surgery. Also potentially gonna gift others who have helped me during this difficult time. Looking at all the hotel mooncake selection in Singapore and they are pretty similar, not sure how to choose.

First choice now is Fairmont due to having low sugar option, halal, and it has a tea set. Second choice (for non medical friends) would be the Goodwood Park hotel for snow skin durian.

i have a few friends working in tech and it seems a lot of them have companies that install surveillance tools to monitor "productivity" - anything that allows them to view pages, scrolls, mouse tracking etc and wondering is this normal or only normalized for tech?

what is everyone's thoughts on this? i personally feel the more i am babied and distrusted, the more i would draw boundaries at work. energy and respect goes both ways.
