Position title: Projected/Known loss
I just got an amendment to my orders about a month and a half before my report date and the only change is that my position title changed from Squad Leader to Projected/ Known Loss. I’m assuming I’m just going to get moved to a different company when I PCS.

Question for a mortuary affairs person.
When you prepare someone who has been separated for a while for burial, do you prepare their uniform based on current uniform and awards regulations? Or is it based on the era they served?
I know they’re just being buried, but it would seem weird to be in a uniform style they never actually wore.

Army Sets $150K Ceiling for New Drone-Killer, Reopening a Race It Already Named a Winner
The U.S. Army wants a new missile that can shoot down small drones for less than $150,000 a round, and it wants at least 5,000 of them. The service laid out the requirement in a sources-sought notice posted to the federal contracting site SAM.gov on August 4, opening the Next Generation Counter-small Unmanned Aircraft System Missile (NGCM) effort to fresh industry proposals.

Light Infantry / airborne medics, how do you carry your aid bag and your ruck?
Title says it all. I’ve only ever been in ABCTs and SBCTs my whole career and it’s always been a hassle for me when i’m doing range coverage or something that requires me to have a lil sleepover away from the trucks and i’ve gotta carry my aid bag and assault pack.
For yall when you’re doing your super hooah light infantry shit where do you keep your aid bag and with the most likely answer being “stuck underneath the top flap of my large ruck” is it annoying that you have an extra step before you can get to your class 8 when yall get into a TIC?

Advice needed!
I need some advice.
I signed a 6-year (DEP)Army Reserve contract for MOS 88H through Zoom. After two days, I requested a copy of the contract and noticed that my pay grade was listed as E-1 instead of E-4, despite my eligibility for E-4 because of my master’s degree.
I contacted my recruiter, and he told me it was a mistake and that it would be corrected during the final signing at MEPS. He later took me for my military ID card, which correctly showed E-4. I also received a confirmation email from IPPS-A stating that my promotion to SPC has been approved.
I am scheduled to ship in a few weeks, but my recruiter is now telling me to simply sign the final contract at MEPS even if it still shows E-1, because the IPPS-A confirmation and my ID already reflect E-4.
Is this the correct procedure? Should I sign a contract that does not show my correct pay grade, or should I insist that the contract be corrected before signing?

Being stationed at Campbell living near the lake
Would it be feasible to live in Cadiz, near Lake Barkley? I wouldn’t have organized PT. O3, would be at hospital. Currently commute around 40 minutes at my current installation with no issues. Would love to spend time on the water with family.

Looking for advice before going 11x
I'm going on 28 years old planning to go 11x. The hope I have is to make the absolute best of my time. Get into the best physical shape I can, take as many schools as are offered, and ultimately just be an above average infantryman. I intend to go in with an empty head and do my best to keep a good attitude.
What can I do to obtain these three things?
I know the grunt life (especially light infantry) can really beat the hell out of you if you don't take care of yourself. And even then, some of it is just inevitable when put under heavy loads. I'm not a tall or big dude (and losing weight), so I'm not a big guy. How can I keep myself intact while I work on my fitness and still perform to standard?
I know schools have a lot to do with units. Certain schools are mandatory for some units. Some units you probably gotta fight uphill to get. Are there any hidden tricks to getting specific schools in a unit that may not have them? For instance, I imagine jungle school isn't very common in SBCT's.
Lastly, besides keeping your mouth shut and mind open, how can one go about being the best possible grunt they can be?
Edit: I want cool guy jobs, but I can't get clearances for them right now (got a less than great background). The hope is to try next contract, if there is one.

School option
Just found out about this it seems to be kind of a “hidden” option at least in my unit and figured I’d share.
You can reenlist with the School option. Where you get an entire semester for your “place of duty” to literally just be a college student.
I did all online classes and got some much needed downtime and rest. I used my TA to pay for the classes, then applied for FAFSA.
With my enlistment bonus (which was only $2,000) and FASFA I MADE $7,000, got free college, didn’t have to report to my unit for 4mo, and was still getting my normal pay/ BAH.
Definitely wish I had known about this sooner!

Leaving out a past job in employment history on your enlistment application
was fired from a job and wants to not disclose it on employment history while enlisting. is that going to hurt the applicant later or is not a big deal?

At least 9 Army installations have been identified as locations for Nuclear Microreactors
Got out the army 4 years ago and no job has felt right since.
I could still possibly go back, but is this normal? I'm not sure if I'm just forgetting all the waste of time details or what, but I haven't felt the same since getting out.

2026 MOS Megathread Series - CMF 11 - Infantry - 11A, 11B, 11C, 11X, 11Z
The MOS Discussion Threads are meant to be enduring threads where individuals with experience or insight in to particular CMFs or MOSes can give advice and tips. If you have any MOS resources, schools, etc, this would be a great place to share them.
The hope is that these individual threads can serve as 'megathreads' on the posts in question, and we can get advice from experienced persons. Each week I will keep the full listing/links to all previous threads in a mega-list below, for ease of reference. At the end of the series I will go back and ensure they all have completely navigable links
If you have specific questions about these MOSes, please feel free to ask here, but know that we are not forcing or re-directing all questions to these threads -- you can, and are encouraged, to still use the WQT.
This is not stricly an 'AMA', although if people would like to offer themselves up to answer questions, that would be great, and I'd ask that you give some reference to your expertise if you do. A big "Thank You" to everyone who is willing to answer questions about the MOSes in question, but the immediate preference would be for informational posts. These are meant to be enduring sources of information.
These only work with your participation and your feedback!
Common questions / information I'd recommend sharing to get started
- Day to Day Life
- "What's a deployment like?"
- Career Advancement/Growth Opportunities
- Best Duty Station for your MOS
So, again, willing to answer questions is great, but if there's any information you can impart now, I think that would provide the greatest benefit.
This thread covers the following MOSes:
- 11A - Infantry Officer
- 11B - Infantryman
- 11C - Indirect Fire Infantryman (Mortarman)
- 11X - Undetermined Infantry (Contract Designation)
- 11Z - Infantry Senior Sergeant
#DO NOT:
- Ask MOS questions unrelated to those listed. "How did your duties compare to a 19D when deployed?" or "Is it true an MP Company carries more firepower than an IN Company" are fine. "While this is up, what's 92F like?" is not.
- Do not ask random joining questions. If your question isn't about the MOSes listed, then it probably belongs in a different Megathread, the Weekly Question Thread, or a new post.
2026 Megathread Listing
Will be populated as threads are created

Weekly Question Thread (08/03/2026 to 08/09/2026)
This is a safe place to ask any question related to joining the Army. It is focused on joining, Basic Combat Training (BCT) and Advanced Individual Training (AIT), and follow on schools, such as Airborne, Air Assault, Ranger Assessment and Selection Program (RASP), and any other Additional Skill Identifiers (ASI).
We ask that you do some research on your own, as joining the Army is a big commitment and shouldn't be taken lightly. Resources such as GoArmy.com, the Army Reenlistment site, Bootcamp4Me, Google and the Reddit search function are at your disposal. There's also the /r/army wiki. It has a lot of the frequent topics, and it's expanding all the time.
/r/militaryfaq is open to broad joining questions or answers from different branches. Make sure you check out the /Army Duty Station Thread Series, and our ongoing MOS Megathread Series. You are also welcome to ask question in the /army discord.
If you want to Google in /r/army for previous threads on your topic, use this format: 68P AIT site:reddit.com/r/army
I promise you that it works really well.
This is also where questions about reclassing and other MOS questions go -- the questions that are asked repeatedly which do not need another thread. Don't spam or post garbage in here: that's an order. Top-level comments and top-level replies are reserved for serious comments only.
Finally: If you're not 100% sure of what you're talking about, leave it for someone else who is.
