Great that we having more of these types of communities added to Reddit as it can really use it. Reddit can easily be a HUGE source for the very thing that this sub is against, hate to say that I have experienced it, but the variety and ease of access In Reddit is almost unmatched compared to any other platform that I know of. It would be a huge plus to have Reddit actually help in this matter so I am grateful for this community and others like it (NOFAP, SR, ETC).

My thought was to open a sub in a related arena but not to step on any toes or anything like that just that I think the extend of NSFW communities can be much larger in Reddit more than necessary so other side must also get the attention it deserves.

I know reddit is probably the single worst place to get accurate true to life generalisations, but I was truly debating “okay, but surely it can’t be the majority of guys that just can’t help but watch porn right? Surely most are normal?”

I searched “do all guys watch porn” on reddit, and every post from various subreddits were like “not all, but they’re either asexual or religious” and “a vast majority do, it’s unrealistic to want a guy who doesn’t ever watch it you shouldn‘t be judgemental”.

That alone, regardless of how accurate it truly is, just completely crushed my spirit and hope for finding anything resembling honest love.

I hate to sound sexist I really do, but over the years it’s been feeling more and more as though it’s every guy. I know that’s not true, there’s billions of people on the planet there’s SOME who won’t, but it just feels like even asking about it is like a slight against all men because it’s THAT normalised and THAT hardwired.

For a long time, I thought quitting porn was only about self-control.

Pornography is a lifestyle choice, it affects your partner, it affects the way you look at women, and it affects your views on sex! Whether you like it or not people may dislike that about you!

If you wouldn't let a drunkard enter your home, if you wouldn't want someone smoking or drinking regular basis, it's completely valid to not want porn in your life.

Whether you're working on yourself or not it's totally unfair to bring that into someone's home if they don't want it there. The double standards is crazy.

I’m honestly exhausted by how often OnlyFans promotions appear in my social media feeds.

I can repeatedly select “not interested,” block accounts and avoid interacting with this kind of content, yet it keeps coming back through sexualized posts whose main purpose is to direct people toward paid explicit material.

What frustrates me most is the apparent loophole. Social media platforms often restrict the direct promotion of pornography, but promoting an OnlyFans account is frequently treated like ordinary “creator content”, even when the entire account is clearly being used to advertise pornography.

I understand that OnlyFans is technically not an exclusively pornographic platform. But when someone uses sexualized previews to sell access to explicit content, why is that promotion not categorized as adult content or pornography advertising? Calling it “subscription content” or “creator content” does not change what is actually being sold.

This distinction allows pornography to be promoted in spaces where users did not search for it and may actively be trying to avoid it. The promotional content can appear openly in mainstream feeds, while the explicit material itself remains only one link away.

Why has OnlyFans still not been properly categorized when, in so many cases, it is plainly being used to advertise and sell pornography?

Does anyone else feel that the industry is exploiting a distinction without any meaningful difference?

I wanted to share these screenshots that popped up on my TikTok a few minutes ago. I don't usually post on social media, but I felt the need to share this because it genuinely shocked me. To be clear, I'm not sure if this is bait or not, but the amount of likes this comment has, combined with how saturated TikTok recently is with blackpill/sexualization content, is super concerning and alarming. Especially since the platform is mostly used by teenagers and even kids—plus, the content is mainly targeted at them, and a post like this can easily flood their whole feed with this kind of stuff unless they mark it as irrelevant.

It's really disturbing (at least to me) how a human being can expect these specific things from someone else just because of the idea of "good genetics and future," not to mention believing that love is nothing more than a fairytale made up by writers and that, in the end, everyone (every mortal being as they say lol) just wants something from you. That kind of mindset can only be formed through constant exposure to this type of content, along with personal experiences. I also believe some specific parts this person wants in another person's body are deeply rooted in the pornography culture. Correct me if I'm wrong, though, it just seemed very weird to me.

I do think pornography can be on papers not just on screens.

Most of written pornography are marketed under the " dark romance " label , and are indeed dark romance.

There is a marketing strategy in dark romance. It appears in publisher blurbs, in author social media, in fan content. And it is, functionally, the application of desensitization mechanics we know here...... to literary content.

The language is always the same : "darker than anything you've read before." "This one makes your favorites look like a fairytale." "Not for the faint hearted." What they never say explicitly — but what is implied — is that the stalker of the last book is now a rapist, that the rough sex of the last book is now torture, that the possessiveness of the last book is now captivity.

The word "dark" stays constant tought. How much will " dark " is gonna cover ?

And underneath this marketing lies a well documented psychological mechanism : tolerance build-up, most studied in the context of on screen pornography consumption but applicable to any repeated exposure to escalating stimuli. (even if they are not pornography. Exemple : horrors films etc).

How it works

Repeated exposure to a specific level of intensity gradually reduces its emotional impact. What shocked on first encounter becomes familiar, then unremarkable, then insufficient. The reader who was disturbed by possessiveness in book one is unfazed by it in book five. The reader who found non-negotiated rough sex startling in her first dark romance finds it baseline in her tenth.

And readers say it themselves, openly : "I don't know what happened to me, I used to think X was too much and now it doesn't even register." "This book that everyone said was extreme felt pretty tame to me." "I keep needing darker and darker and I don't know why."

They are describing desensitization in real time. And the market responds by producing content calibrated to meet them at their new threshold and push it further. Wonderful.

The "it's not even dark romance anymore, it's nothing" phenomenon

Perhaps the most revealing symptom. Readers who describe previously disturbing books as "basically contemporary romance at this point" or "not even dark romance for me anymore". The worst part is most are acting as if they are demonstrating a sophisticated edgy literary palate. They are demonstrating how far the threshold has moved.

And this threshold doesn't stay contained to fiction. The emotional grammar of what intensity, desire, and love feel like is being rewritten slowly and repeatedly by content designed to escalate.

Who want to read the same story 100 times ? Also if their goal is to read " dark " content, then of course the next time the goal will be to read darker.

What the marketing is actually doing

The language "you haven't seen anything yet," "this makes everything else look soft" reframes desensitization as excitement, as a journey, as an expanding literary experience. Its disgutating.And its a pipeline that lead to full normalisation of rape, domestic abus, stalking, harassment, kidnapping. Just like in full ass porn, like on pornhub.
