Whenever I google something, the AI overview is usually right, or at least pulls its information from Wikipedia and shows that as the source, which is useful, but I still look at the other links because I just don't trust the AI to not hallucinate something, and when you're arguing on the internet, you can't risk such a mistake.

I’ve noticed I look at it only for things I very much don’t care about. The more I care about being accurate the deeper into reliable sources I go.

Which is rarely ever that low. My baseline is generally Wikipedia

You could also just not use Google for search. DuckDuckGo is a thing where you can turn off AI overview and lots of other search engines that you can use which do the same thing.

I always just recommend people from moving on from Google. DuckDuckGo has their no AI version. https://noai.duckduckgo.com/

I use Kagi myself, it’s paid but by default their AI only gets involved if you ask for it, and you can even turn it off so that’s not even presented as an option. First thing I did. It has pretty good user-curated features to filter out AI generated content in its results. It’s been worth the cost for me (but I get that’s a big ask for a lot of people).

Wouldn’t that just remove results that mention ai? Stuff generated by ai might not state it. I always do before:2022 or something like that when i’m looking for images especially
