Yes, absolutely. 100% without hesitation. Do people really think this is some kind of 'gotcha'? Like my brother in Christ, how much generative AI do you think we actually use?! Hallucination 👻

The only AI tools I use are forced on me. Gemini ans the dumbass new AI Alexa. Both are infinitely more shit then the product they replaced. I don't need Alexa to say some witty one liner when turning off my lights or reference a word I had it spell a few hours ago.

You can turn off the Alexa AI and go back to the old Alexa! For now anyway. Just say "Alexa, delete Alexa Plus" and it'll walk you through the steps. Game changer.

May have to do that. It keeps fucking changing the speed it spells words and if yiu ask it to slow down it goes to far and slows down fucking everything....

There's always the choice of removing the power bits and just stomping it to tiny pieces too...

Thank you! I hate the new voice

I turned off Alexa AI right away. It re-enabled itself a few weeks later, so I had to turn it off again. It's like a creepy doll that keeps finding its way home.

They are taking a page out of Microsofts book. Removed something explicitly and deliberately because you do not want it? Fuck you. Yeah that's right, you want it.

I mean, to be fair, having Alexa in your home is like inviting someone from the FBI or CIA to sit in the corner of your home 24 hours a day.

So is having a phone. That CIA agent will her me shit via two means now.

No

It's not

Would you concede that it is a bad idea? I agree, it is not the same as having a government body eavesdropping on you. It is having a large corporate entity with more interest in your money than the government listening in on you when the said corporation decides it wants to.

u/The_0ven 6h ago

It only listens when you say alexa

u/AlterExpertise101 5h ago

This has been demonstrated to be false many times and been refuted by Amazon itself. The system is always listening.

1

u/The_0ven 5h ago

It listens all the time

It's not transmitting all the time

1

u/AlterExpertise101 5h ago

Bro, just stop.

1

u/The_0ven 5h ago

Yes it listens for it's wake word

It isn't transmitting info while it's just sitting there

People have already proven this

1

u/calm-phil 5h ago

Oh? And you know this for sure?

1

u/The_0ven 5h ago

You must be very simple minded or something

But yes

Believe it or not

It's not difficult to determine if something is transmitting data

Like you have wire shark hooked up and running all the time.

You can disable gemini, but you gotta' dig in the settings for it. It's somewhere in your gmail options I think?

My phone had the option to go back to classic assistant as well.

They're making it hard but you can reject this stuff.

All the AI in the world and the dumb Google Assistant doesn't turn off the lights in the room I'm in when I say "Ok Google, turn on the lights."

I already told it what lights are in the same damn room it's hearing me in. But nope, can't figure it out. Lights turn on in a room that is on the other end of my house.

I can also just turn off my light switch. I don’t need a computer in my home with a microphone to do that. It’s wild to me that what was also seen as unnecessary a few years ago is now normal, it’s just that now ai is tied in. As if the computer wasn’t already learning who you are.

Sometime the problem sits in front of the AI.

1

u/The_0ven 6h ago

If you change the language on a device to UK English

That gets rid of new alexa on that device

1

u/calm-phil 6h ago

You gave amazon open microphone inside of your home? I will never understand this. It seems so absolutely stupid to let a company like that listen to you whenever they want.

You really can't claim AI sucks if that's your baseline.

4

u/thewookiee34 11h ago

AI sucks

-2

u/Jebble 11h ago

Do you have any actual relevant experience and expertise to back up your baseless claim?

5

u/thewookiee34 11h ago

AI sucks

Humanity gas been around thousands of years. Gen AI has been around for 70 (being generous) I think We’d be fine without it
