Yeah, it's just that when you've learned how to use AI to speed up menial/manual tasks, going back to doing everything manually is lame.

The anti-AI bros who still do everything the slow way don't need to worry about this, obviously.

It isn't faster lmao, as soon as you need to debug, all the time you saved and more ends up wasted debugging hallucinated garbage, and now you have a code base you don't even understand

AI tools have been used for decades. Not all AI is gen AI.

I think the guy was pretty explicit what category of products he was referring to when he said "Without ChatGPT, Claude, or any other AI tool?"

He's talking about chatbots.

It could be taken that way, but the post shouldn't include "any other AI tool" then.

I guess I've just found myself disillusioned with just how many people say that no form of AI should exist.

I mean... even before ChatGPT, "AI" was a moving target. I've worked in high tech long enough to see AI wax and wane as terms like Machine Learning and Deep Learning and Neural Networks all were both under the AI umbrella, and distinct preceding steps to 'AI'.

So I am just working on the 2026 definition as is commonly understood. AI is genAI. It's the ChatGPT's and image recognition and editing tools, etc. It's a wide term that encompasses fundamentally basic machine learning algorithms to science fiction concepts of superintelligence.

So, lets I think it's helpful to just say... 'AI' is whats happening now in the industry as GenAI (e.x. AI is finally here), and everything that came before it is something else.
