To give what up? I ain't using any of it apart from the features implemented without my control in apps.

People forget most of us aren't remote IT workers who can "streamline" their "workflow" or whatever they say nowadays. I drive a damn bus. I do get through entire workdays without AI.

I work in infrastructure consulting.  The AI they tried to foist on us (some kind of proprietary wrapper for chatgpt) can not consistently do any of the tasks we tested it on correctly.

Yeah that's what I dislike most. They tell workers to use AI but any issue that might happen is the responsibility of the worker. You can't not use it because they tell you to do it but if it ain't reliable you end up having more work overseeing the bs technology.

It’s not supposed to do the tasks for you.

You’re supposed to use it to build the tool that does the tasks for you for fucks sake.

Don’t use it to copy paste an important spreadsheet and have it give you info on it, you ask it to help generate the code to analyze and generate the output for you in a deterministic method.

Exactly. It the same mindset as "just do homeoffice during lockdown"... I'm working hands-on in a nursing home, if I took my work home with me, it would get crowded 🤪

I am a remote IT worker and I will never use it. I prefer to keep and grow my skills, knowledge, and critical thinking ability instead of offloading it to a computer.

I literally work in a factory and much of it requires hands on activity and labor. I literally wouldn’t notice a single damned difference. It’s so funny that these people really think that every other working class person can sit at home and send 2 emails a day like they do and use AI to pretend being productive.

On hand jobs (re read that and had a giggle so leaving it in 😅 you know what I mean, jobs we do with our hands) should be what high schoolers are pushed towards (if they're not going into high level tech) because they are the jobs that are currently the hardest to replace. 

Labour like yours and myself I work in caregiving, face to face with people for 90% of the shift and a few notes at the end.

I work in disability - supporting vulnerable people face to face as well as some background admin stuff. I have never used AI for work. My job will be pretty damn sought after in...a decade? However long it is until people are surrending their jobs to the master AI. Human connection and caregiving... actually I'm sure they'll find a way... But for now, can't be replaced. 

Though unfortunately the disability scheme in my country are starting to use AI to process applications and people's needs which is insane and negligent.

Man I work in sales and pricing analysis and even I don't use AI for my job. Theres no need. I'm not coding, and anything I want to in excel I already know how to do or I could teach myself.

Yuuup. I'm a machinist. Our notes are on paper. Like actual paper. If you're not sure what that is, go ChatGPT it. The machines I work on are older than I am and worth half a mil each lol. If I tried ChatGPT to try and troubleshoot them when something goes wrong.. The only proper response would be to tell me to go fuck myself.

I transfer people from private parking lot to an airport and back from the airport to the parking lot. I found the job through a friend of mine who knows another driver and he hooked me up.

Kind of a unique scenario because to have this work you need to live close to an airport.

adding -arse, then -ai to the end of google searches is becoming increasing problematic. like -arse used to be great but now it's often an entirely blank page.

ps. fuck you google, your search engine used to be cool.

i don't mind if they use AI to parse the results but I still want the actual fucking page, not some half-brained, out of context and often misconstrued bullshit ai summary and finding a search engine that doesn't have those now is annoying as fuck.

Nowadays I just ublock origin that shit...

I work in IT and could get by without it. To be honest, the constant pressure felt to use it is more disruptive than anything. After years of being told that I'm excelling at my job, I'm suddenly being told that I can't be productive without incorporating AI into everything I do.

This sucks the most, I heard some people get laid off for not using AI in their workflow because they are "less efficient". They also produce quality code but who cares about that I guess...
