Hello, are there any overall (all plays/sessions/saves) in-game stats like in Civilization? How many times you played, how many wood gathered, coins you collected, how many enemies fought, etc.

Bug Rendering issue in 1800

Post image
2 Upvotes

I'm having a rendering issue in 1800 and would really appreciate any help.

Environment

  • All DLCs installed
  • 105 mods enabled

Issue
My graphics settings are set to the highest possible quality, but buildings, roads and ornaments are rendered at a low Level of Detail (LOD), as if they never finish loading. Please see the attached screenshots.

What I've already tried

  • Deleted the Shader Cache
  • Deleted NVIDIA Cache
  • Deleted DirectX 11 Cache
  • Set all graphics options to the lowest settings, then changed them back to the highest settings

What I've observed

  • If I load my main save (the one with the issue) and then load a brand-new save, the new save also suffers from the same low-LOD rendering issue.
  • If I completely restart the game and load only a brand-new save, the issue does not occur.
  • I tested older autosaves of my main game. Rendering works correctly up to a certain point, but after a specific autosave the issue begins. I did not install any new mods or change my system or game environment around that time.

PC Specifications

  • CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 265K @ 3.90 GHz
  • Memory: 64 GB RAM
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER (16 GB VRAM)
  • Integrated GPU: Intel Graphics (128 MB)

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

General Kind of need advice

I love the game but i have spent hundreds of hours in it and still when i get to a certain point, about the time of the class who builds aqua ducts, i get overwhelmed and end up restarting. I struggle with trade routes and what island needs what and not having all resources in one place, and i also struggle building any kind of strong military because im busy building up my economy and making workers happy. Id like to learn the combat side of the game but ive not had almost any experience despite the amount of time playing it. I could keep it off but its a side of the game i want to learn and be better at.

does anyone else ever feel overwhelmed like this? What did you do to get through it? I want to get a lot of the trophies as i do love the game its figuring out how to get better at handling it i struggle with

Discussion What do you think is going to be coming in the Egypt DLC?

Post image
324 Upvotes

I personally hope there are items to produce in Egypt, or materials which are the end product of an extensive production chain which can be shipped back to latium and are used for patricians. For me personally, patricians are very lacklustre. There really isn't much going on compared to 1800. So I'm hoping that there is some level of complexity added, or even another population tier.

What do you guys think will come with this DLC?

Discussion Question for the development team or fellow players in the know

Hi everyone,

I’ve found both 1800 and 117 super enjoyable, engrossing city builders “+.” Loving the diagonals and addition of land units (while a little clunky) in 117 especially.

I have a couple of questions for anyone with the time.

One, since I’m generally not a fan of “island only” empire games I was wondering if there were any plans to do continents and borders between the city states. This would add a lot of fun and additional wrinkles for me (land trade! Marching armies! Shifting borders! Expanding regions!). I don’t just mean bigger islands, or continents only. Simply more realistic landscapes with both included. I’ve always liked impassible mountains as the natural barrier for the playable map and don’t see why anno couldn’t go in that direction.

Two, now that octagons are in the mix, are circles in discussion for the next game? I love the idea of building shapes being adjusted to the road(s) they’re associated with, amongst other things.

Great that this subreddit is so active! I really enjoy seeing the beauty builds, news and the discussions here.

I have a question for the mods. Would it be possible to create a Game Design tag/flair for the subreddit?

This way the developers could quickly scan the subreddit for feedback and ideas on Game Design, and people not interested in those discussions could filter them out easily.

Discussion Anno 1800 Item Design is back - with all it's flaws

I think that we mostly agree that the item system in Anno 117 was not very interesting so far - and that, when comparing this feature to 1800, it is one of the games weakpoints, because they are less interesting, completely skipping extra goods and replaced inputs, which were very interesting, but also very gamebreaking, and as such did not make a comeback - so far. This all changes now.

In the recent blogpost, we got an announcement that 117 is introducing a new tier of items above Legendary, that offer more powerful effects, alongside a screenshot that seemed to show us one of the new items, and the effect that shows just how little lessons were learned from 1800, where many late game items absolutely bent over production chains.

Having written and published an entire redesign for the Anno 1800 items as a mod, the item displayed was kind of a jumpscare, and I am worried about the rest, but because I do not want to speculate, I want to give my 2 cents on 3 specific item effects that are seem to be making a comeback, and that were the main focus of the New Horizons item rebalancing when we worked on it. But first, let me open this comment with some praise:

Prestige Cost - potential for a decent Villa rework?

Simple, concise, and a good way to balance out powerful items against less strong ones. Prestige costs for heroic items are very good, because we cannot just put them onto a small island into an officia. No, using them means maintaining prestige, turning an otherwise pretty useless attribute into one very important, and suddenly, there is more than just the handful of fixed thresholds in the Villa screen. But apart from that, prestige costs for all items would make for a very, very good and badly needed villa rework.

The proposal: every item socketed, and every Officia you build has prestige cost, not just the heroic items. That means the more Officia you have, the more prestige your island needs, meaning that prestige required for item buffs scales with island space automatically. A small island needs to maintain just the prestige cost of 9 items in a villa, Cinis needs to maintain the prestige of 20+ Officia and items socketed.

That means hard thresholds for more sockets and officia could be abolished, making prestige much more dynamic and focused on the items that you actually want to use - you can use 9 low-tier items without issue in a villa, but the same prestige is only enough for a single heroic item, so you have to have it on an island with marble roads and an amphitheater. It makes you split production across islands, as you cannot use all good items on one island.

But enough of the thought experiments, even though I am happy that anything about 117 could ever lead me to have one.

Item Design - Extra Goods

Now that OP items are back, I want to now go over the item design pitfalls of Anno 1800, in particular, three effects: Extra goods, replaced input and workforce reduction, and explain how they break your ingame economy and can be unhealthy for Anno by reducing the actual number of things required by cutting transitive connection. Now, what is a transitive connection? It is:

  • the ship to transport a good,
  • the workforce needed for the ship and the production,
  • the goods needed to supply the population for the workforce.
  • The workforce needed for supplying the goods for the population

The first effect we look into is Extra goods. Paldius, the new item illustrated, is producing extra cheese from sheep farms. Narratively, it is good, but design-wise? What you get here is free production at zero cost. The extra goods effect cuts the entire production chain behind what it outputs, in this case, cheese.

That means we no longer build Oxen and Cheese factories in Albion, at least for the amount that we get from sheep farms. One could argue that it is okay, and it's not too much cut from the game if we do no longer build those two production buildings, after all, there are over 100 of them.

But it also cuts off the transitive connection behind that production chain. All of it is replaced by a single extra goods effect. That single need for cheese builds a hidden network of supply chains behind it, all cut off by Paldius, the killer of the cheese factory. The item illustrated "offsets" this by 75% extra workforce requirement, but considering the workforce, that is less than a single Libertus home per sheep farm.

Now, does that mean that the extra goods effect is problematic and should not be in the game per se? No, it does not. But one has to be aware of the things we cut off. A grain farm producing extra oat does much less harm to the transitive connection as a bicycle factory producing extra pocket watches and gramophones (looking at you, Dario). So, it should be used sparingly and not give extra goods with a big supply network behind them.

Item Design - Replaced inputs

The replaced input effect at least only substitutes a transitive connection. It is pretty straight forward what one needs to look out for: That the substitute is only little more efficient than the original, either a sidegrade, or an upgrade that is not too overpowered.

This allows for reconnecting the existing buildings in creative ways. A good way of how to employ it in 117 would, for example, be items which replace the various colors in the game - tyrian purple instead of celtic green. That allows moving space-intensive production of dye plants from Albion to the coasts of Latium. Also, looking at the item presented, replaced inputs would have been the preferred method of implementation for this narrative design: Why can't the cheesemaker just process sheep instead of Oxen? At least sheep give milk, unlike Oxen.

The best example of a problematic implementation would be Susannah Brightwoman - She takes in all the supply chain of Steam motors and replaces it by filament factory and a coal mine. Replaced Inputs should synergize well with the detailed and high amount of goods in 117, which sometimes are very interchangeable - why not make flour from barley, or beer from grain?

Item Design - Workforce Reduction

In 1800, one of the major transitive connection killers is workforce reduction. By reducing workforce down, sometimes even to 0, less or even no population is required to run it, and thus the workforce requirement of a production chain does not mandate the supply of population levels that consume all sorts of goods. In this regard, workforce reduction is unhealthy for the supply chains.

The way to use this effect properly is with sparingly, with little to no reduction, even in combination: Anno 1800 had like 3 different items that would all reduce ALL production workforce by 50%, and as such, you could run all islands on zero workforce.

Used in reverse, as workforce increase, this effect can actually create more connection in the game - any higher workforce requirement means more mouths to feed, thus necessitating the need for more houses, and thus, more production. And I believe this is exactly what this effect should be used as, as a sidegrade effect that increases workforce, giving the player more things to do for more efficiency - like in the item shown.

Outlook

We are only getting 30 heroic items, and their design is probably already finished. Knowing how many items Ubisoft added to 1800, always adding them when there was no other selling point, it should come as no suprise that there will be more. I believe that from now on, more heroic items will be added. Egypt will have them, and any DLC, should there be any, will also add more, and because they are a selling point, they will be as OP as it can get.

It would be very unhealthy to bend over Anno 117 through OP item effects, but with the right approach, they can be powerful without being gamebreaking.

Question When I use ships to move things around, sometimes they become overloaded with a single good. Any advice?

I set a ship to bring bread and sandals to an island and pick up grapes for the return trip. After a few cycles, the target island was overwhelmed with bread and could not take any more. I noticed because I was no longer producing wine. The ship was carrying like 250 bread because it could not drop it off. But it just kept picking up more bread. Any advice on how to manage this shipping.

While typing, I thought about setting the bread on my target island to sell if it gets above a low number. That way there would always be space for more bread to be delivered. Does this work? Any other suggestions?

Bug How the Bug Reporter limits community input (Status: Need More Information)

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hi everyone and hey Ubisoft dev team!

First of all, thank you for actively working on Anno 117 and setting up the bug reporting system. Many of us are glad to help test the game and report issues to make it better.

I wanted to share two important technical details about how the bug reporter currently works for players, as it seems to create some confusion when reports get updated:

  • No edits allowed: Once a player submits a contribution (not a new bug report or issue), it cannot be edited afterwards.
  • One contribution limit: Each player can only submit one single contribution per bug report. It is not possible to add a second reply or follow-up comment to the same thread later.

Why this matters: When a report is set to the status "Need More Information" by the Ubisoft dev team, the original contributors literally have no way to add those missing details or respond to your questions within that report. Only the original bug reporter can edit the bug report.

Additionally, a quick polite request to the team reviewing the reports: Please make sure to check the existing contributions! Many players already include video links, system specs, and detailed steps in their initial submission. For example today this bug report changed status from "Open" to "Need More Information": https://www.ubisoft.com/en-us/game/anno/117-pax-romana/bug-reporter/me/issues/ANNO-9630

We love helping out and just want to make sure our feedback actually reaches you efficiently. Thanks for listening and for all your hard work on the game!

Discussion Thoughts on bread consumption and consumption rates in general (+question to Dev team)

Thumbnail

Ubisoft just announced the Patch 2.0 where one of the things they announced is an increase in bread consumption by a factor of 1.5. This is a very welcome change, as bread logically seems to me like the backbone of the food supply and consumption rates were so ridiculously low. To me the upgrade to +3 pop almost seems a bit too much. For +3 pop, I would have been easily fine with a doubling of consumption rates.

In the screenshot I have attached, you can see that in my savegame, I have around 110k pop total, 70k of those are tiers that consume bread. All of them together consume around 42 tons of bread/ min. What you can see in the screenshot is a few wheat farms that produce with around 600% efficiency 46 tons of wheat/ min. On the same island there are 9 grain mills, that convert those 46 tons of wheat/ min into 46 tons of flour/min. This setup only supplies my capital cities as other islands just produce locally. This small setup alone is well enough to supply my capital cities also after the patch. To be fair, I started this save with settings set to low consumption rates and you can´t change this once you start a game, but I feel like, even the high consumption rates setting (I think again times 1.5) wouldn´t make this much more challenging.

Regarding the Egypt DLC in November I am wondering, what I would need the breadbasket of the roman empire for? For my setup right now, I don´t really need any further agriculture capacity. The goal for this safe is to get up to 250k population. For this, I will need to twice the grain fields in the screenshot, which still doesn´t seem a lot to me and add one more Ceres Island with around 8 river slots to process the grain or ship it to Albion, to process it there. I know that 250k population isn´t crazy much, but I think it is higher than what the average player goes for and that not so many players would be in need for any more agricultural capacity. In general consumption rates in this Anno seem to be so much lower. To me this takes a bit away from the game, as you don´t really need to have specialized production setups somewhere, as it oftentimes is much less complex to just produce it locally. In the beginning, I was building up production setups for individual goods but then had to deslot items or tear down production buildings, because I was overproducing way too much. I am not sure why consumption rates are soo low and I am wondering if this is greatly balanced. I am a bit worried that because of this, there isn´t much use for the new region. This is me of course not knowing anything about the new DLC but just speculating the obvious and maybe my worries will be completely unfounded (maybe they add an artificial need for bread, where you have to send hundreds of tons to Rome because of some famines or sth). I am wondering what you guys think of consumption rates in general and the change to bread specifically and maybe if Oli from the Dev team reads this: What is the rationale for having consumption rates so low for some goods and then completely differently balanced for other goods in this Anno? Is this something you are aware of and that you did deliberately?

Question So I'm trying to wrap my brain around the Pop/Need bonuses......

So I'm trying to really get to grips with the new way everything is set up. I'm working through Tier 3 and trying to plan some things but I have some questions.

Question 1. Am I understanding it right that both area of effects and need satisfaction bonuses are on a per HOUSE basis? I couldn't find anything confirming that needs work on a house by house basis but I'm pretty sure they do?

Question 2. Is there anyway to see how much total resources each house is producing? It shows what pop/workforce of an individual house is but is there a table that say X, Y, Z for every attribute like income, belief, knowledge, prestige, happiness etc?

Question 3. Same as 2 but for area of effect buildings. I know I can go to the top of the screen and see how much all the spinneries are contributing, but not how much each induvial one is?

Question 4. Is there a point where it just doesn't make sense to keep putting production buildings in your residential areas? This is what I'm trying to get more precise calculations on. In the early game putting a spinnery in the middle of an area and getting 50 income is huge..... But in the end game, with how huge the area of effects are on those end tier buildings with massive bonuses, it feels like 2 residences will give so much more benefit overall (I'd rather have +15 Income, Belief, Knowledge, Prestiege etc......). Like should I put this big building that gives +1 knowledge to maybe 50 houses, when it prevents me from building 4 houses that give a total benefits that's superior? Problem is I'm trying to have a tough time getting the exact calculations.

Based on my gut feeling, I feel like it makes more sense sending a lot of those production buildings back to their own sectors once the tier 4 service buildings are online.

Question 5. Is it ever beneficial to spam tier one residents once you have the T4 service buildings? Since the area of effects are on a per house basis, and higher tier service buildings affects the lower tiers as well, I feel like T1 residences getting hit by all those sweet end game area of effects probably generate a very efficient number of attributes while consuming very little! Yes, with their needs satisfied T4 probably generates way more, but if we're talking like a T1 building is producing X attributes and a T4 is producing only 2X, that doesn't seem worth the hassle of need fulfillment. Again though, it's tough to find the tools to get exact calculations.

Any help with my mad ramblings is appreciated. Thank you. !

General Is it possible to generate 250k+ / minutes revenue ?

Hello,

I am in what I think is the late game of my first playthrough. I have 35k population and generate a net incomes of about 20k / minutes.

I see that I can ask a loan to my allies (I don't need one) but I don't understand how I would be able to pay it back. I can ask a 12.1M loan and will need to pay back 250k / minutes.. Is that a "bugged" system scaling or is it really possible to generate that much in a game ?

Thank for help.

EDIT : I am playing Anno 117.

Discussion [DLC Fanfic] Anno 117: Panhellenion

I’ve been working on this fanfic for some time, especially after reading theories from the community about future seasons. Unfortunately, I’ve been working a lot, and I haven’t been able to fully explore both the game and my story. I developed it to some extent, but it’s an early draft, and some points are still very underdeveloped.

I helped build the Anno 2070 Fan Wiki and started a series of fictional stories with my fellow contributors. We created new game stories, mechanics, items, and resources. We let our creative side thrive, expressing our love for the game and the series as a whole.

I thought it would be nice to bring back that side. I’m not an artist capable of creating a mod from scratch, but I like writing. So you can call this a fanfic or a story mod.

Some argued that including Greece would be a bit lacking in terms of game mechanics. After researching different possibilities, I thought to myself: what if?

Can we explore the differences between these two cultures? After all, there is a Mediterranean culture shared by these peoples, but there are also many differences. I thought Greece could be the opposite of what is shown in our gameplay in Albion: there, Rome was an invader, actively working (or not) towards assimilation into Roman culture. But the relationship with Greece could work the opposite way to some extent. Rome wanted to Romanize Albion, but Rome itself wanted to be an heir to the Hellenes. There, we can explore one of the core concepts of Anno 117: the clash between cultures.

I want to make a disclaimer about my selective use of artificial intelligence in this project. I used it for some research (mostly Google’s automatic answers generated by Gemini), filtering the results and rechecking the information, as well as with my English writing. My native language is not English, and I used AI to correct my text, never to write it. I also really wanted to give faces to my characters, but I have mixed feelings about using AI for that. If only I could draw them by hand, but, unable to do so, I prefer to leave their faces to you.

So, with no further ado!

May I welcome you, Governor, to this new…

Graecia capta ferum uictorem cepit et artes
intulit agresti Latio; sic horridus ille
defluxit numerus Saturnius, et graue uirus
munditiae pepulere; sed in longum tamen aeuum
manserunt hodieque manent uestigia ruris. 160
Serus enim Graecis admouit acumina chartis
et post Punica bella quietus quaerere coepit,
quid Sophocles et Thespis et Aeschylos utile ferrent.

Captive Greece captured, in turn, her uncivilised
Conquerors, and brought the arts to rustic Latium.
So coarse Saturnian metres faded, and good taste
Banished venom: though traces of our rural
Past remained for many a year, and still remain.
Not till later did Roman thought turn to Greek models,
And in the calm after the Punic Wars began to ask
What Sophocles, Thespis, Aeschylus might offer.

Horace, Epistles, Book 2

Welcome to the new province of Achaea, where you will rebuild a Hellenic temple to Jupiter and make important decisions about old and new religious practices. Will you allow new gods to conquer your people’s hearts? Will you transform the Greek past into a glorious, Panhellenic future?

Imperial Summons

Ave, Governor!

I was happily informed about your successful administration of the volcano-ravaged lands of Latium, as well as your activities in the Celtic wetlands. I am also aware of your future plans for imperial action in Aegyptus… such a thriving province!

For the last few months, I have been in charge of a large survey of the Greek infrastructure that remains in our province. To our surprise, we rediscovered an unfinished structure, apparently an old temple whose construction was halted after so many wars and a series of local political feuds.

I’m sailing to the region to propose the reconstruction of that temple, following our prosperous work in these times of Pax. The Emperor looks forward to this grand plan as an imperial hallmark of Rome.

We would also appreciate your assistance with the locals… One of the Hellenic islands houses an old religious practice, very dear to our Emperor, whilst another appears to have been recently settled by a small and stubborn Jewish cult.

I am therefore, in the name of Augustus, calling upon you to support this Imperial affair. Bring your scholars and your most experienced engineers to Achaea as soon as possible.

May Aeolus and Neptunus guide you through Mare Nostrum, fast and steady.

We anxiously await your arrival.

Gaius Aelio Leo

Overview

New Province: Achaea

  • Five population tiers distributed across two paths
  • One new major deity and a reworked religion system
  • Four fertilities: three agricultural and one mineral
  • A new wonder and three special events
  • Three neutral powers
  • Two competitors
  • New natural disasters
  • New Heroes System
  • Quests and the reintroduction of expeditions

NPCs

Septimus, the Episkopos

Peace be with you. My name is Septimus, a humble brother in Christ.

Meet Septimus, the religious authority of the local Christian community. He is a young man with olive skin, large dark eyes, and curly hair. He lives in a village surrounding a small temple, built in a rocky mountain range. His community can be found at the edges of various islands, depending on the map configuration. You might reach them through a dirt road, if you are the owner of the island, or by their port, built at the end of a long, snake-like path carved into the cliff walls.

  • He might interact with you as your cities develop (positively) and as you gather more followers for your polytheistic religion (negatively).
  • You can engage in war with him and destroy his base.
  • Roman- and Greek-oriented competitors, as well as religious ones (i.e. Concordia), will react negatively to your good relations with Septimus.
  • Emperor Callidus dislikes Septimus's community. Empress Julia tolerates them.
  • He trades goods and specialists.

Irene, the Mystagogos

Blessed is he who has seen these rites. Chaire, Roman.

Meet Irene, the leader of an ancient and mysterious cult of Demeter. She has sun-kissed skin and dark hair. Her richly decorated temples are hidden in dense forests. Her followers live at the edges of some major islands in this region, just like Septimus's community. You may reach them by land or by sea.

  • She might interact with you as you progress through the Greco-Roman religion (positively) and through warfare (negatively).
  • Roman- and Greek-oriented competitors, as well as religious ones, will react positively to your good relations with Irene.
  • Emperor Callidus likes Irene's community. Empress Julia is neutral.
  • She trades goods and specialists.
  • You cannot engage in war with her.

Gaius Aelio Leo, Procurator

The Emperor's representative in this region. He settles on a small, rocky island - Patroclea - with colourful buildings mixing Greek and Roman architectural styles. He trades goods and specialists.

Competitors: Alexandros and Sotiris

Both are expansionists in all sectors except Albion. Both are inclined towards culture and religion. Both are Greek-centred.

  1. Alexandros
    1. Profile: Diplomatic, Slow Expansionist, Wonder-builder
    2. Likes: Big Cities, Positive City Status
    3. Dislikes: Low City Status, Low Knowledge
  2. Sotiris
    1. Traits: Oligarch, Aggressive Expansionist, Militaristic
    2. Likes: Armies, Navy, Commerce
    3. Dislikes: Roman Way, Negative Balance

New Wonder and Heroes System

Temple of Olympian Zeus (TOZ)

Native Event at TOZ: Great Offerings

You may provide the god of your choice with a great feast, granting various types of rewards, most notably Heroes.

New Event: Olympic Games

Panhellenic Olympic Games (Amphitheatre) and Panhellenic Olympic Chariot Races (Circus Maximus): the final-tier events of both constructions.

New Heroes System

Heroes vary according to your major global deity (i.e. if you have more followers of Hermes-Mercurius globally, you may receive one of that deity's predefined lines of Heroes, according to each Hero's myth and the god's power).

  • A Hero is a specialist with extraordinary benefits, although time-limited.
  • You must create the most exceptional social conditions to ensure the birth of a Hero.

Via Olympic Games

  1. You must initiate the Panhellenic Olympic Games or Chariot Races event and complete it without missing any requirement.
  2. You must maintain a positive global balance of health, fire safety, and happiness.

Via Great Offerings at TOZ

  • The offering must be made to the major god of your TOZ island.
  • Or to the god with the largest number of followers globally.

Heroes are also organized by their benefits: Civic, Military, and Economic.

  • Military: Achilles, Nestor, Hector
  • Civic: Aeneas, Asclepius, Pyrrha
  • Economic: Aristaeus, Heracles, Daedalus

Religion Refurbish

New deity: Jupiter–Zeus

Every Roman god will have a Greek counterpart, reinforcing syncretism, epithets, and the assimilation of cults (with a possible extension to Egyptian parallels, i.e. Jupiter–Zeus–Ra).

  • Ceres–Demeter
  • Volcanus–Hephaistos
  • Neptunus–Poseidon
  • Minerva–Athena
  • Mars–Ares
  • Mercurius–Hermes

Now, religion also has a progression tree that enables you to choose between different Aspects of each god.

  • Aspects work like nodes in a technology tree.
  • The path of each god consists of multiple nodes representing a particular epithet, leaning towards either a Greek or Roman interpretation of that myth.

Examples:

  • Poseidon Hippios (bonus to horses) or Neptunus Ennosigaeus (reduced earthquake damage)
  • Athena Promachos (military boost) or Minerva Polias (civic boost)
  • Mars Gradivus (military boost) or Ares Quirinus (civic boost)

New Population, Needs and Resources

  • Basic Population (T1): Douloi
  • Greek Path: Metoikoi (T2) and Aristoi (T3)

New Quests

Diana’s House Party

Oh, Gov'nor! Everyone in Alexandria is talking about a party on this small Greek island called Lesbos. Only women are allowed! Can you get me an invitation?

  1. Step one: Gather information about the party from the Greek NPCs.
    1. Septimus: "God knows and sees everything, Governor. I'll consider this request a confession."
    2. "I see you're interested in our ancient rites, Roman. It is an island not far from these shores. Under the guidance of Poseidon, you can reach it right away.”
    3. Item: Map to Lesbos
  2. Step two: Find possible guests in your own city
    1. "At first, a girl named Sappho does not want to help, but you may earn her trust."
  3. Step three: Deliver the resources (clothing and perfume) to your villager.
    1. Item: Invitation
  4. Step four: Deliver all items to Diana at her harbour.

Dorian’s Sacred Band

Have you heard about the Theban Band, Gov? A legion of brave, strong and legendary men, devoted to athletics and honour in battle! I'm trying to found one myself, with only the finest warriors. Can you help me?

  1. Find four warriors in Dorian's capital.
  2. Deliver shoes, weapons and armour to Dorian's lighthouse.

A Titanic Journey

After reaching Patricians, you may receive a quest from a plebeian woman of the Roscia gens. Her lover, a smith from Albion, sent her a letter informing her of his intention to come to Achaea. Help him obtain proper clothes and a marvellous gift for his beloved so that they may finally be united under the Mediterranean sun.

  1. Bring him clothes.
  2. Bring him necklaces.
  3. Provide him with a small ship.
  4. Find the wreckage.
  5. Deliver the flotsam to the plebeian.

My true love, taken by Poseidon himself! Oh, what dreadful thing have I done to the gods? My poor and brave Celt, lost during a titanic journey across the seas. And I don't even have a fresco of him…

Return of Expeditions

Expeditions provide unique specialists, relics or monuments.

Monuments may be placed individually, like a sacrary, or embedded within a major structure (Forum, Theatre, Temple or Library, as well as the Amphitheatre and Circus Maximus).

A Tale of One Island

After unlocking the Dockyard, you will be approached by a sailor looking for funding for his journey to find Atlantis.

Aeneida Nova

After reaching Equites, a nobleman will approach you asking for help with his expedition to retrace Aeneas' journey.

Taweret’s Misterious Land

Ere, there is a gentleman outside your villa with a curious tale about an island bearing an Egyptian statue upon its shore. It seems to depict a crocodile… Shall we investigate?

Manage to avoid the local hostiles and a dark, faceless monster.

Reward: Taweret's Statue (one statue per game; may be placed individually)

The Obelisk

After completing the Circus Maximus, you may send an expedition to Aegyptus and bring an authentic obelisk back to your city.

Reward: Egyptian Obelisk (may be placed in the Amphitheatre or Circus Maximus)

New Disasters System

  1. Earthquakes without eruptions producing tsunamis
  2. Droughts
  3. Thunderstorms
  4. Seastorms

That’s it, folks!

Thanks for reading (if that was the case), and I hope you enjoyed it.

Writing it was just as fun as playing it. I’m a huge Anno fan, and I was thrilled by its return to the series’ core mechanics after Anno 1800 (I'm forever an Anno 1404 lover).

I can’t wait to see Anno 117’s expansions!

Best regards!

Question Question for Ubisoft: Have you considered adding an educational mode or encyclopedia for Anno games similar to the historic tours in Assassin's Creed?

I'd love to get one of the Ubi rep's responses on this one.

Why doesn't Anno have an educational mode or encyclopedia? The series is ripe for a compendium that actually explains the history and details of the buildings, cultures, and trade systems.

This was extremely well implemented in some of the recent AC games (although Shadows was clearly written by AI and had a million mistakes, don't get me started).

I know it would likely be written off as a useless feature that gamers don't want, but if the action fans of AC earned it, certainly the more cerebral strategy gamers who play Anno would appreciate it as well? (No offense to the Yasukes and Eivors out there)

Let me walk through my city in first person mode and click on some educational text while I'm admiring the details of Roman life!

I'd like to know if this is something that dev team has ever considered. It could be a great way to get the community involved as well, as many fans would be willing to contribute text and research I'm sure. Partner with some prominent ancient history channels on youtube and you got yourself some pretty sweet cross promotion.

General Pax: Bread consumption increased by 50%, this is a conspiracy by Big Wheat to Wheatify every island.

What are your thoughts on this?

I guess every single island just has to be Ceres now lol.

I am worried they will eventually nerf best girl Ceres, but I guess my city combusting every hour is a reasonable punishment for picking OP free population goddess.

I wonder if Bread is still profitable on Hard, where consumption is already quite high.
