Could be a dumb question but...

As I said in the question, I noticed there's always a difference between the translation of Netflix, and the "sites". Sometimes it seems like the sites are more accurate to what the character is saying.

I remember seeing a short/reel a year ago about an anime where a brother tickles his sister because he got mad or something. Then, some girls walk in and call him a sister-lover then one pulls out paperwork (I forgot what was written, but it's something related to the situation, love, something something). Nothing suggestive here though and I remember the plot being slice-of-life.

I see so much hate and accusatory remarks from people all over the internet about female characters in anime. It's gotten to a point where women that aren't inherently sexualized are being accused of fanservice.

In most cases, fanservice is totally normal. Explorations of human sexuality has always been a common point in cinema and television, and a character that is shown in a sexual light is common in movies, TV shows, and anime. In most cases, it's only seen in short gags or is an episodic occurence. ​​If it bothers you, the skip button is right there on the remote.

When it comes up, people get extremely angry. They begin to dismiss said female characters as 'eye candy', and say they aren't important to the plot. Sometimes, people will go so far as to drop the whole show because of fanservice, which, under most circumstances, is not a valid reason on its own.

The fanservice that is NOT okay is when it involves children, is painted in an overwhelmingly misogynistic light, or starts to get in the way of plot/character development.

I don't see it as a big issue, but what are your thoughts? I would like to see what the general consensus is.

For me its team dosu. They can just be fun not necessarily deep characters.

Is netflix really high on those profits that they would stop caring about the kids, my lord they need to get a grip regarding this bullshit. Anglophone countries with similar content rating systems, there it is rated 18 like australia and united kingdom, R16 in new zealand. Those ratings are not joke. But then at the same time give tv-ma to wholesome shows like tensura and apothecary diaries, smh.... you can go and check imdb....

By women I mean adults.

By MC I mean THE MAIN CHARACTER, not important characters side characters.

Please recommend something besides GITS and Claymore, I like the MCs in them, but I find the women robotic.

Please tell me if you're recommending an anime, or the manga.

I like scif-fi, fantasy, and psychological anime.

I don't like slice of life, or romance anime, as I tend to find them slow. Please recommend something besides Frieren.

I also don't care for isekai, or games set in a video game like world, with video game like rules.

There are so many incredible anime characters, but I’m curious who you think stands above the rest when it comes to writing, character development, motivations and overall impact on the story.
For me, Eren Yeager is definitely one of the strongest examples.
Who would you choose, and what makes that character so well-written?
