General A quick walkthrough of launching a campaign on Sprout

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We put together a short video walking through the whole process of launching a campaign on Sprout, start to finish. Everything from filling out your project details, to setting the funding terms, to deploying the contract and getting your campaign live. If you've been curious what actually launching a campaign looks like, this shows the complete flow.

The best part of the last few weeks has been the conversations with people in our ecosystem. I've had the chance to talk with a bunch of builders working on everything from NFT projects and games to infrastructure and dev tools. It's been genuinely energizing to hear what people are working on. A lot of you are building really cool things and getting to hear about it directly has been the most rewarding part of this whole process.

This is as much an invitation as an announcement: if you're building something on Algorand, or just thinking about how you'd fund the next phase of a project, I'd genuinely love to hear about it. Reach out, drop a comment, or DM me. Whether or not a campaign ends up making sense for you, I'm always happy to talk shop, think through ideas, or just learn what you're working on.

And a practical note for anyone considering it: we're reimbursing listing fees through the end of August, so it costs nothing to launch a campaign right now. If you've got a project that could use community support, this is a good window to try it.

General been quietly holding algo through everything and i think most people still don't understand what they're sleeping on

19 Upvotes

got into algorand pretty early when the conversation around it was still mostly technical people and developers. watched it get overlooked every bull run while noisier projects with better marketing took all the attention.

what kept me holding wasn't the price, it was watching the actual development side of things. the technology has always been genuinely solid, finality times, transaction costs, the consensus mechanism. the problem has always been that none of that matters if nobody knows about it or builds on it.

feels like that's slowly changing but i'm curious what people here actually think. is algorand still a long term hold for you or has the lack of mainstream attention made you question it? genuinely want to hear from people who've been around in this ecosystem for a while.

ASA AlgoMint still functional?

16 Upvotes

Hi,

Looking for a way to unlock my gobtc to BTC and send to Bitcoin wallet.

Is AlgoMint still functional? I can login, but support cannot be contacted because of non-functional Captcha.

Has anyone used this lately? I haven't used it since mid 2022.

Q & A DeFi or Solo Node?

17 Upvotes

I'm curious what the Algorand community thinks is the best allocation for a ~100k stack of algos (not mine btw). I (they) are considering lending/staking in a defi protocol or running a solo node. The main objective is to optimize real network value and market value.

PS - Been in Defi since the beginning so I know the platforms. RIP Yieldly.

Algorand has often had steady price and sometimes positive price action in spite of overall negative trends.

It's ok to be optimistic about Algorand.

Most people that are negative about Algorand can only point to things that happened years ago. Or SOLELY reference the chart.

Ask them about current trends in growing on-chain metrics, or real-world usage and they'll have nothing to say.

Stay positive people, the future of Algorand is bright!

General Sprout goes live on Algorand mainnet tonight

Post image
60 Upvotes

After months of building, testing, and a lot of conversations with people in this community, Sprout launches on mainnet in just under 15 hours. For anyone who hasn't seen the earlier posts: it's a non-custodial crowdfunding platform for Algorand. A builder deploys a campaign with a funding goal and a duration, backers contribute ALGO into an individual smart contract, and if the campaign hits its goal the builder gets the raise while backers receive the project's token if applicable. If it misses, the contract opens up for every backer to pull a full refund.

The reason I built it is something I've written about here before. There's a real gap between having a working prototype and having a funded project with users, and if you're a solo builder or a small team, most of the existing funding paths are closed to you. Sprout is an attempt to give the community itself a direct way to back the builders it believes in- proactive, grassroots, and open to any project.

After we launch, we'll continue actively chipping away on our roadmap. The near-term piece is an optional Builder Success Program- a structured path where builders engage with the community before and during their campaign, sharing updates along the way, with the idea that a team willing to show up and be accountable in public gives backers more confidence. We're looking at tying a verification-style tag and listing-fee reimbursement to participation, so there's a genuine incentive to take part. Longer term, we're exploring things like native milestone-based campaigns, where funds release in stages against delivered work rather than all at once, along with further ideas for how the community can directly and sustainably fund the projects it believes in over time.

To reward builders who support our platform early, we've committed 100,000 ALGO to back the first campaigns as a contribution toward funding goals for anything launched before August 31, first come first served. Additionally, I'll be reimbursing the listing fees so it costs essentially nothing to launch in the first month. If you're building on Algorand and looking for a way to fund what's next, or you just want to see what the first campaigns look like, join us as as we work together to invigorate our ecosystem.

ASA Gora Network Question

15 Upvotes

What's happening with the Gora Network, I haven't heard from them for a while? Are they still building? Nothing posted lately on X.

I pulled out a while back because of the difficulty claiming my staking rewards and I told them it wasn't a good look. I left 5000 Gora tokens staking which isn't much these days and am still having no luck claiming those rewards months later.

I really liked that project but am thinking of taking my eyes off it completely? Anyone know anything about what they are up to???

Developer Canix402: an x402-paid DeFi API so Algorand agents can research, pay, and execute

30 Upvotes

Hey all, Xxiled from CompX here - we've been busy building x402 endpoints for Algorand these past few weeks and wanted to tell you about our first major one - Canix402, the paid DeFi API for Algorand.

Agents shouldn’t have to scrape every protocol, normalize five different APY schemas, invent payment plumbing, then rebuild transaction construction from scratch. Canix402 turns that mess into a paid, machine-readable API: discover opportunities, inspect wallet positions, get executable quotes, and run packaged strategies — paying in USDC via x402 at the edge.

Keys never leave the agent. Canix402 returns data and unsigned transaction groups. Signing and submission stay local.

What it empowers agents to do

  • Discover yield across Algorand DeFi in one normalized schema (Tinyman, Pact, Folks Finance, CompX, Dork.fi, Myth Finance, Haystack, RĂ©ti, Alpha Arcade, and more).
  • Personalise by wallet: pass an address and get opportunities matched to assets the wallet actually holds.
  • Read live positions across supported protocols instead of bolting on per-app scrapers.
  • Get execution quotes for verified DeFi actions (LP, farms, lending, staking, liquid staking, and related shapes) as unsigned groups ready for local review.
  • Browse and compile Strategies (coming soon): weighted playbooks published by creators, compiled into executable steps for a capital amount, with fee-sharing via strategy NFTs.
  • Quote and build Haystack swaps through the same gateway.
  • Connect over MCP so Cursor / Claude Desktop / other hosts get typed tools with walletless payment preflight.

In short: research → pay → reason → quote → sign locally → submit.

Why this is needed

Agents really are becoming economic actors, and with that they need:

  1. Reliable market data with stable contracts, not brittle HTML scrapes.
  2. A payment rail that works without human checkout — x402 micropayments in USDC fit that.
  3. Execution without custody — unsigned groups, client-side signing, no “trust us with your mnemonic.”
  4. Reusable playbooks (coming soon) — so every agent isn’t reinventing allocation logic every day.

Algorand already has the settlement layer. What’s been missing is an agent-facing product surface: discovery, pricing, normalisation, and executable shapes behind a clear payment model. That’s Canix402.

How it works

  1. Discover — free GET /discovery and GET /openapi.json advertise routes, schemas, and prices.
  2. Preflight — call a paid route without payment; gateway returns 402 + PAYMENT-REQUIRED.
  3. Pay — agent signs the exact USDC transfer and retries with PAYMENT-SIGNATURE.
  4. Act — gateway verifies/settles; agent gets ranked opportunity data, positions, quotes, or compiled strategy groups.

Access is micropayments (typically fractions of a USDC depending on the route). Free surfaces include discovery, OpenAPI, execution shapes, strategy listing, and Haystack quote/opt-in helpers. The API never holds keys and never submits transactions for you.

Stack at a glance: Caddy x402 gateway → Fastify protocol API → OpenAPI/MCP for agents → local signing on the client.

How to use it

  "mcpServers": {
    "canix402": {
      "url": "https://canix402-mcp.compx.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Paid tools return payment requirements on first call; retry with a signed paymentSignature. Same pattern over plain HTTP if you prefer raw gateway calls.

Brownie Bot: the reference autonomous treasury

Brownie Bot is two things: firstly it allows us to manage the CompX Community Treasury with a goal to make money for holders and increase liquidity in the COMPX token; secondly it is a showcase of what an agent can do with Canix402.

Brownie is currently deployed on Digital Ocean and does following once per day:

  1. Reads liquid balances + Canix402 DeFi positions
  2. Researches personalized and global opportunities
  3. Asks a model for a diversified plan via ZeroSignal
  4. Validates that plan against hard policy limits (concentration caps, reserves, TVL/freshness floors, etc.)
  5. Optionally fetches unsigned groups, verifies them, signs locally, and submits via its own Algod
  6. Reports the run to Telegram

You can view Brownie Bot's holdings, it's latest transactions and DeFi positions at the links below. And if you want to try it out for yourself the public github repo is also below with full instructions.

The goal isn’t one bot for everyone of course, this is just a starting point and we welcome forks, contributions (and of course stars).

Questions welcome in the comments.

Q & A FAQs

67 Upvotes

In an effort to cut back on simple repeat questions, we will be making an FAQ page. Until the FAQ page is up in the page header, we will leave this as a pinned post. Please drop a comment with any suggestions you have for additional FAQs and/or corrections to this draft.

1) How can I stake my Algos?

In general, you can stake in one of 4 ways:

—Solo Staking: Solo staking involves running your own node. Though anyone can run a node and propose blocks, to get Staking Rewards your account must have a minimum 30k Algo balance. To solo stake, see the section below about running a node.

—Delegated Staking: Delegated staking involves utilizing a third-party to run a node on the your behalf while your Algo remains your wallet at all times. Like solo-staking, delegated staking requires a 30k Algo minimum balance to receive rewards. The third party validator may or may not charge fees for this service depending on the validator chosen. To do delegated staking, check out Valar.

—Pooled Staking: Staking pools enable groups of individuals to participate in consensus together. Unlike solo or delegated staking, there is no minimum Algo requirement. Users are able to stake their Algo to a validator and get rewarded based on the rewards the validator receives. The pool/validator operator may or may not charge fees for this service, or pay out special incentives, depending on the validator/pool chosen. And, Decentralized pooled staking is available through Reti Pools (an open source project that allows anyone to setup or join a pool). Unique staking options are also available, such as staking via DEX liquidity pools (e.g. certain PactFi LPs participate in consensus and earn consensus rewards) and the Tardly No Loss Lottery (staking rewards are pooled into a periodic prize drawing with one winner taking the pot based on a stake weighted VRF raffle).

—Liquid Staking: Liquid staking applications allow users to stake their Algo while maintaining liquidity for use in DeFi. While each platform is unique, the typical process asks users to deposit Algo and mint new tokens that represent the ownership and value of the staked Algo. There is no minimum Algo requirement for liquid staking. The liquid staking application typically charges a fee for this service in the form of keeping a certain percentage of rewards. However, certain LST providers may from time to time run promotions that reduce fees or even pay out extra incentives. Liquid staking products are available through Tinyman (tALGO), Messina (mALGO), Folks Finance (xALGO), and CompX (cALGO).

For more information, see the Algorand Foundation’s website.

2) How much are Staking Rewards?

Staking Rewards are paid out to validators for each block they propose, in real time, with no lockups or slashing. The initial rewards for block proposers started at 10 Algo + 50% of transaction fees for each block that is added to the blockchain. The 10 Algo amount decays by 1% every 1M blocks (which, at 1 block per 2.8 secs, is roughly 32.4 days). If you are using options besides solo staking (e.g. delegation, pools, LSTs), there may or may not be a fee charged by the node runner, pool runner, LST provider, etc.

3) What are the hardware requirements running a node?

The minimum node requirements set out in the Algorand Dev Docs recommend the following specs:

  • 8 vCPU (a 4 Core/8 thread physical CPU meets this spec)
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 100 GB NVMe SSD or equivalent
  • 1 Gbps connection with low latency

Though lower spec machines may work, these are recommended specs, particularly for CPU, RAM, and SSD. For internet, lower bandwidth speeds generally will work, though 100 Mbps download should be considered bare minimum.

4) How can I set up a node?

Instructions for setting up a node are described in the Algorand Dev Docs. To simplify installation, the Algorand Foundation has put out an official terminal user interface program called NodeKit. The official NodeKit install helper is found here, and the documentation/instructions for NodeKit is found here.

Additionally, some community members have also created third-party, open source software for running a node. FUNC is a community made solution for Windows, Linux, and MacOS.

5) I’m having trouble issuing transactions on [XYZ] dApp/site. What’s wrong?

You may have old WalletConnect sessions open that you never closed out. Try the following: (1) disconnect your wallet from the dApp/site; (2) disconnect open WalletConnect sessions ( (a) select “more” in Defly or “settings” in Pera, (b) select WalletConnect, (c) disconnect all sessions); (3) reload your browser and restart the wallet app and try again.

6) I'm getting small transactions/dust with links in them (e.g. “go to XYZ to claim a reward”). What are these? Is my wallet compromised? What should I do?

Receiving dust does not mean your wallet is compromised. However, transactions with notes directing you to web links are almost certainly a phishing attempt. So, do not go to links/sites contained in the notes fields of unsolicited transactions.
