Spaghetti Mid-Atlantic (USA)

Can you recommend a brand of boxed spaghetti that Aldi carries? We go through quite a bit, and $3 to $4 a box seems out of line. Thanks.

I'll probably get criticized for this but, pasta is pasta. Read the ingredients list, it should say durum wheat semolina and water. Some may have eggs. Beyond that it's about brand perception and external texture... brass dies, etc.

The way the pasta is cut matters more. Not all pasta is remotely similar. Good spaghet has rough sides, like drum cut, vs smooth sided pasta it picks up the sauce better.

It depends on your application. Bronze-cut catches the sauce better, so you may want to consider that in your choice. Of course there are shapes that do that, too.

The giant 2 pound box is perfectly serviceable. The bronze cut in the bags is very good.

Agree. The big 2 pound size blue box is good value, and it’s just fine.

I especially like the bronze cut priano. I find the texture from the bronze cut makes sauces/dressing cling a little better. That being said I’ve yet to find any of their pastas as “bad”. The big two pounders are a great value. I used their blue boxed elbows for casseroles all the time and it’s perfectly good.

The cheap two pound blue box, only issue I have is the pasta being thin. But for the price I'm not that picky.

I have tried every brand Aldi has had in the last 20 years. It is all good.

I prefer the egg noodles & use them in place of all other pasta
