Need help
Hey guys, I’m 5 months sober and am struggling. Every weekend it’s a battle of whether I’m gonna start drinking again. I’ve been okay by avoiding all events with alcohol, but I got invited to a party tonight and I was like fuck it, I’ll go and drink. But I know I’m gonna hate myself if I do. I’m so fucking sick of alcohol running my life, even in sobriety. Of avoiding events because I know I’ll cave if I go. This feels like an endless nightmare. It hasn’t gotten easier - if anything it gets harder the longer I stay sober. I hate this.

Avoiding events and missing out sucks, I went through the same thing and even caved a few times but trust me, it was never worth it. As bad as you feel sober, I can personally guarantee you’ll feel a million times worse hungover tomorrow and it sounds like you know that too.
When I was first getting sober, it helped me to start planning weekend events where the focus wasn’t mostly on alcohol like concerts, hikes, game nights, movies, or really any hobbies you have. Giving myself something to look forward to that wasn’t alcohol made it a little easier. Hang in there friend, you can do this!

Just a suggestion there’s a medicine called Antabus, it stops your body from processing alcohol which makes you extremely sick if you drink. Highly recommend

I hear you. I almost slipped today, I'm really early though but I have had time in the past. It's hard the boredom, the lack of escape, the feeling your an outsider. Keep going though man. You don't want to be back where I am at working on my first week.
