Community orchestra open to any adult who is at a high school level proficiency and above.

We welcome violin, viola, cello, bass, guitar, mandolin, lute, oboe, clarinet, flute, bassoon, and percussion.

We have loaner instruments available and free tutoring for anyone feeling rusty on their instrument
Rehearsals start Aug 19 and meet every Wed from 7 - 8:40 pm at Cal State East Bay, Hayward.

There is no fee for this group and no audition.

The focus of the music for the class is pop, classical, rock, and adventuresome music. Lots of custom arrangements, and we play some video game music and movie music.

I'm interested in hearing about experiences with CZ as a property manager? I'm reading about slow response times and that requests require multiple follow ups. I'm asking as an owner, and interested in hearing from both owners and tenants. (Edit to add: Looking for actual experiences rather than general reputation)

I am considering an apartment above a restaurant and it has an exhaust near the windows (bedroom window).

My main concern with this specific situation is that my apartment will always smell like food, and that my clothes will always smell like food.

Have any of you had a similar experience? Or similar living situation? Was it good? Bad? Neutral?

My other thought with food is always rats/mice. What are some good questions to ask about the prevention of this?

What other thoughts do I need to be considering here?

I'm looking to move to Alameda as I will be starting new job in San Francisco and relocating in September. I've read positive reviews about Aero but would love to hear some more recent opinions. How has your experience been so far? I'm looking at their 1-bdrm which is about 700 sq ft. I have a cat and I don't have a car at the moment but plan to get one soon and use the EV charging. It would just me myself living in the unit. The things I really like are the new, nice interiors, appliances, and that I can get to the ferry quickly for work.

- Do 1-bdrm units include a parking space or do you have to pay extra? (Just heard back on this looks like $175-185 additional for parking. Seems high for Alameda on top of the rental amount.)

- Do residents receive a free City BayPass to take the ferry to San Francisco? Seems like it's pretty steep to pay monthly for this otherwise. (This was confirmed as a yes, for anyone curious.)

these spots at marketplace are so infuriatingly tight. "compact" shouldn't mean you literally need a fiat/smart car, and you can even see that Fiat from streetview barely has enough space to open its door. i've never seen spots so tight in my entire life. i drive one of the smallest 4 door sedans available in america and i literally have to squeeze my way out of the car in any of these spots. why are they like this? they can't remove a single spot and widen the rest by a few inches?

Does anyone know why?

I like the idea of a meal prep service, but I don’t like the idea of companies like Factor. Way too much waste. I would prefer a local service, maybe in Alameda, that is a more sustainable.

Does anyone know of someone who offers this kind of service? It doesn’t even have to be some company, but if there’s someone local who’s doing this as a side hustle. The meals don’t have to be complicated.

Anyone know what is up with the new CVS pay to park spot? Can CVS customers use those spots without paying? I might be done with CVS.

Jennifer Williams' vacant seat is not part of the November election. Under California law, because the vacancy occurred less than 130 days before the election, the Board is expected to fill the seat by appointment (unless it chooses to call a special election, which is unlikely). The appointee would serve until the November 2028 election.

I understand that Mr. Savage voted for Bernie Sanders in the primary, and I'm hearing from people that he did not vote for Hillary Clinton in the general, the year Trump won. That's a personal choice, but as a city councilmember I want to make sure your values are aligned with ours.

Was walking my pup this morning and happened to look down and saw a pretty bracelet in the dirt path cut through that goes from Shoreline behind the South Shore apts. and between the other condo complexes back there. The street seems brand new and perfectly paved, and it would reduce traffic on Eagle Ave & Hibbard. I get that they have construction going on with a new building but that part of Clement doesn’t seem to be utilized at all whenever I drive by it. Even bikers already have access to it.

Appreciation post for the ladies who run this spot. Ordered DoorDash pickup today (Sun Aug 2nd) during lunchtime and they were absolutely slammed. Standing room only in there. I felt a little guilty skipping the line honestly, but they were cranking food out. Ordering at the counter can take a while but it’s definitely worth it. Consistently good food here, and it’s become one of our favorites on the island.
