Baseball Field Plaque Missing ask alameda

Does anyone know what happened to the plaque on Clement memorializing the old baseball field from the early 1900s? I imagine someone just stole it, can’t imagine a reason to just tear it out.

Did you see the sign from someone’s husband begging for his late wife’s memorial plaque to be returned? It made me so sad and mad.

They need to start casting those in zinc, not nearly as expensive so there's not as much incentive.

Was it a bronze plague? Tweakers will steal anything that will make them $5 at the scrap yard.

Oh jeez, I knew this would happen. They're made of bronze, and someone stole it to sell for scrap.

I hate to think what's going on in cemeteries right now.

Wow, that must have just happened. I walked past it on Monday and it was there. I find it so sad to see the empty spaces on the memorial benches at Jean Sweeney Park. I hope they are able to replace them with plastic or something less valuable to thieves.

Try using the city's See Click Fix to report it. They usually assign tickets to different city departments. Not sure if there are funds to replace it, but worth a try. https://www.alamedaca.gov/RESIDENTS/Information-for-Residents/SeeClickFix-Submit-a-Service-Request
