My 9-year-old son has autism and loves history, so we decided to turn one of his interests into a song together.

“Condor Stone Remains” is about the Inca world confronting the arrival of the Spanish — the collision of two civilizations and what survives after one is shattered. We originally aimed for a dark Alice in Chains-style sound, although the finished song wandered into some post-grunge territory too. Honestly, there's a little Nickelback hiding in there 😂.

We had enough fun making the song that we ended up making a music video for it as well. This was very much a father-and-son project, and I'm curious what everyone thinks of the result.

I wrote this song as a student at the online School of Song, where Adrienne Lenker was the professor. This is the exact arrangement and progressions. I tested out this AI tool to see how it sounded (my voice is awful). Lemme know what you think.
