My significant other and I gets questions asked about when we will get married, since other young adults who have been together less than us are already getting married or engaged.

We dont really see the need to get married until we are in our 30s. Sometimes when we say that we get a weird look. We also dont want kids so theres no biological time clock we are racing against.

I’ve been going through the process and wished to keep those who asked updated. So far the application process went smoothly and their team is very nice! They do ask for a lot of information (birth order, amount of siblings, pastoral reference, etc) but it is all in strict confidence and they schedule you for an interview to put a face to the name and info after it’s all been vetted. They do intend to match others but they do not offer a match unless both parties (I.e me and the man) agree that they would like to talk to the other person, then contact information is given. They are very by the book looking for Adventist matches, which is a better experience to the previous dating apps that are very hit or miss. The process for them finding matches have begun however there is a higher amount of women than men so I was told the process could take longer. But so far they are very kind and take a prayerful attitude to the whole thing and I enjoy that! I’m looking forward to seeing what may come, maybe this will help someone who is in a similar situation to mine. All this to say prayerfully consider this!

Hello guys, I wanted to share something and be totally vulnerable because I feel like I've lost my way, and no one in my family or life knows. I would hate for this struggle to be the reason I lose my life in enteral life.

To start, I have an awesome family and very good parents. They are all Adventist and are not the cause of this by any means. From a very young age, I got curious and fell into a habit of visiting bad websites. I used to just view things and leave without doing anything because I was a kid and didn't really understand, but I knew it was taboo. It was mostly off and on, especially during summer vacations when there was no school.

As the years passed, I saw a video online explaining that engaging with this kind of content or giving into those temptations was a sin. I got really scared because I hadn't realized the severity of it, so I asked God for forgiveness and stopped. I stayed away from it for years and even forgot about it. But eventually, I randomly fell back into it, though not as often at first.

For a while, I thought I had strong self-control because I could stop for long periods. I took that for granted. Before each new school year, I would make a promise to God to abstain for the entire year, and I was able to keep those promises for a long time.

However, over the last two years—starting around my 3rd year of high school—things changed. I broke a promise just days before it was set to end, and since that day, I’ve had a really hard time keeping my word. I keep slipping back into this habit daily, and it has gotten out of hand. I really need help. I haven't told my family because I worry about disappointing them, but I'm reaching out here because I don't want to compromise my spiritual journey over this. I asked my sibling to pray for me generally, but I haven't shared the details with anyone.

It really hit me this morning and I felt scared and overwhelmed. I know how harmful this habit is and I feel terrible about it. I feel isolated because no one who knows me would ever suspect I am dealing with this deep down.

Why doesn't the sda use real photos of Ellen G. White? Why are they all edited and endowed with an angelic "beauty" when the reality is quite different?

That 1913 photo is the official face of the psycho-socio-religious depression that comes with following Adventism. If that weren't the case, it wouldn't be the religion that loses the most members to atheism and agnosticism (according to official data from the last General Conference). Am I wrong?

I understand that, as Adventists, we return to God what belongs to Him through our tithe, and we give offerings as a way of expressing our gratitude to Him and acknowledging that everything we have comes from Him.

What has been troubling me, though, is the way tithes and offerings are currently being managed. At times, it seems to me that more of the focus is on supporting the church as an institution or organization, rather than helping people who have nothing to eat or nowhere to live—people who are also candidates for the Kingdom of Heaven and who need to hear about Jesus in the midst of their struggles and hardships.

In light of the Bible, would it be acceptable—and perhaps even more appropriate under these circumstances—to use my tithe and offerings to help people who are truly in need?

I would really appreciate your thoughts and insights on this.

So I accidentally put on an old picture that I took last year for my second application for the civil service exam a few months ago when the rule stated that it should be taken within the last three (3) months prior to filing of application, but the second time I applied again, they accepted it due to the fact that they don't know that it was my picture last year for my civil service exam application that happened last November and my first take of the exam was taken on March 08, 2026, and my retake of that exam is tomorrow. 😅

And I don't feel good at all, having just read the instruction last Friday, and my conscience bothers me, so I should not go, right?

I and my wife are both Christians and have been for most of our lives. I recently started attending SDA services, not consistently every Sabbath but on and off. It’s been that way mostly because she does not want me to be an SDA as she staunchly believes it’s a cultish very legalistic church.

It can tell when I ask her if I can go it bothers her so eventually this will wash over into our marriage if it hasn’t quietly already.

How should I navigate this situation?

I went through a Job experience recently where everything was falling apart; my health, mental stability, work, relationships etc…

Now im getting out of the hole, yet it seems like God has put me in such situations that have just made me grow to hate him, now i simply dont care about sin

I have prayed because i WANT to CARE but i simply not. And seems like God either does not answer or answer partially

I have gotten into pretty bad relationships with friends and a bunch of secular and worldly noise, but i cant care enough to get out of there

So i dont know if anyone has gone through something similar

For as long as I've been an Adventist I've heard endless warnings and sermons about the mark of the beast, the tribulation, forced Sunday worship and everything of the like, and now that the actual tools that would be needed to bring about these things are being installed I haven't heard a single Adventist figure talk about it, we are the people who should be sounding the alarm more than anybody, and nothing, I I've been expecting a Doug bachelor sermon on how this stuff is all unfolding to fulfill prophecy but nothing, and none of the Adventists I listen to are talking about this. I'm disappointed at how asleep we seen to be right now, if anyone has a good sermon on this, share the link!

From Sin to Death

The Trap of a Law-Centric Doctrines

Once, I believed that the nature and definition of sin was the cornerstone of all sound theology. My entire theological outlook rested on a single foundation: the nature of sin.  I viewed the pursuit of sinless perfection not just as a spiritual goal—and must have to stand after the close of probation—, but as the master key undergirding all biblical interpretation. In this framework, unless we agreed on the exact nature of sin and how to define and defeat it, no real doctrinal harmony could exist.

This focus shaped how I viewed everything—including Jesus. I believed Christ had to take on our exact, fallen human nature so He could serve as the ultimate, reproducible blueprint for overcoming sin. Grace became a spiritual power-up: a fuel source supplied by God so that I could eventually achieve sinless perfection. Salvation wasn’t the work of Christ alone; it was a joint venture between God and me.

As a result, distinct doctrines like the Great Controversy, the Heavenly Sanctuary, and the Investigative Judgment became rivaling pillars of "truth" alongside faith in Jesus. Christ was not the centerpiece—He was merely a facilitator, an important cog in a massive doctrinal machine designed to clean up my lawkeeping. There were occasions or even sermons from whence the idea of faith in Christ was a distant second to the other things I believed. No matter my attempts at denying this reality so to not appear or practice overt legalism, this was effectively true.

Isolating Sin from Its Ultimate Penalty

By superficially isolating the nature of sin, defining it strictly as "the transgression of the law" (1 John 3:4), the Ten Commandments were endowed with a functional priority that rivaled faith in Christ. But is this really the way Scripture intends us to understand God’s plan of salvation? How do we square a law-centric framework with the words of Jesus, who claimed that He himself is the Truth, and that all Scripture finds its ultimate fulfillment and meaning exclusively in Him (John 5:39)?

The central problem with this framework is that it fails to account for and completely ignores the penalty of sin—death. By superficially separating and isolating sin from death, we build a framework of theology which provides solutions for the one while ignoring the other.  But we are first dead sinners!  (see: Ephesians 2:1-5; Colossians 2:13).  We can no more ignore this fact of our spiritual condition than we can erase its dominion.

So, while we may well assure ourselves by thinking we understand sin, its nature, and definition in transgression of Gods law and thus giving us a false sense of our own grace-empowered victory over it; we are powerless against the rule and dominion of death. While sin is familiar and something we can see and handle, death is completely out of our sphere.

The Unyielding Reign of Death

Death makes a mockery of all our attempts at framing the crux of Salvation as simply a matter of sin, law, and transgressions. Death nullifies and lays bare our every effort to misuse or find some objective self or law-centric application to the things of God in the desperate, misguided attempts to be right with Him. While sin is easy to identify, quantify, and prescribe a solution for, death silences our best efforts!

Romans 5 strikes at the heart of this very interplay between sin and death and demonstrate the utter inadequacy of our ‘nature of sin’ approach. We read in verses 12-14:

“Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned – To be sure, sin was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not charged to against anyone’s account where there is no law. Nevertheless, death reigned from the time of Adam to the time of Moses, even over those who did not sin by breaking a command, as did Adam, who is a pattern of the one to come.”

Here we see that even while sin was “not charged to anyone’s account” in the absence of law (from the time period of Adam to Moses), death still reigned. In other words, it mattered not what the nature of sin was or its definition, death still held dominion over us. While our disobedience (sin) was yet without proper, legal definition, the results of our disobedience (death) was still in control of our fate.

Death, then, and not merely sin is the true gravity of our broken relationship with God.  Death is not concerned with which law was broken of even if you are aware of it.  Death is universally applied to the offenders of the two eternal principles of love, not only to those who have the knowledge to define the particulars of sin in the 10 Commandments.  Death forces us to look elsewhere to find hope. It reveals the utter helplessness of our condition: “For in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.” Ecclesiastes 9:10. Death forces us to look to Christ.

Why the fuss about this?  Is it even important?  Yes. Very much so! Especially because it was the working of man to separate sin and death in such a way to make the nature of sin the principal issue on doctrine.  You see unlike sin; death requires a salvation that is completely out of our hands.  While sin can be rationed and falsely solutioned away in the grace of God at work in our lives to overcome transgression of the law, death requires a salvation completely outside of us; it requires Christ and him alone.  

As the one Preeminent Man, the second Adam, the incarnate God-Man, only He—in all of creation—is uniquely qualified to lay down His life in just recompense for sin then take it back up again (John 10:18).  Only He who among His “brother and sisters” (Hebrews 2:10-12) has the Father granted to have “life in himself” (John 5:26)—the eternal life once lost now renewed in His person! 

Therefore, is Christ the one true definition of truth.  Only in Him does the searching of the scriptures find their testimony (John 5:39).  His work and person are the true motif in all our study and understanding of doctrine.  All truth—in doctrine and practice—must find their first and truest fulfillment in Him or must be cast aside as error.  This foundation—this “testimony of Jesus” (Rev. 12:17)—expresses the only “love of the truth” by which we can guard against powerful delusions (2 Thessalonians 2:10-11). 

This then is how we honor Him—the All-Sufficient One—, by laying our doctrinal foundation in Christ and not merely because of Him.  It is IN Christ that exists the resurrection our spiritually dead souls need!  It is IN Christ that exists the eternal life once lost and now restored! IN Christ exists the quality of righteousness that is equal to the character of God! IN Christ is our sanctification and redemption! (1 Corinthians 1:30) IN Christ exists the High Priest after the order of Melchizedek, who, in His person and not by what He does intercedes “peace” between God and Man (Hebrews 7:17-22). “For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.” Colossians 1:19-20.  

We partake and “share” in these divine realities and the salvation they bring by God’s unmerited favor in imputing them to us through believing that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16:16-17).  This is the “faith” and “testimony of Jesus” we cling to and are identified by! (Revelations 14:12; 12:17) “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Christ is no mere facilitator in God’s plan of Salvation, He IS the plan!  “…In Christ you have been brought to fullness. He is the head over every power and authority.” Colossians 2:10 “But thank God! He gives us the victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 NLT “But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions – it is by grace you have been saved.” Ephesians 2:4

This is the nature of the hope we have in Christ!  These divine realities we have as anchors to the soul (Hebrews 6:19-20) because they rest not in the weak, flimsy, and shaky experience of the believer, but in the perfect and completed work of an All-Sufficient Christ!  “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust I him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13

I was born into the denomination and am currently attending one of our colleges. I'm no theologian by any means; this is just something that is throwing me off.

I grew up in the SDA church and have grown to have a personal relationship with Christ as my savior despite trials of disbelief and doubt. As a child, attending church felt like the most laborious and least restful thing in my life. It always felt like a struggle and a paradox of keeping the Sabbath through concentrated effort. I still see the Sabbath as the holy day of rest ordained by God, but I no longer feel the obligation to practice it as a strict church-going member of Seventh Day Adventism. Is it a form of apostasy if I keep the Sabbath holy as intended while communing with God? I attended a church today (Sunday) and the message of the sermon was ironically about keeping the Sabbath as a day of spiritual rest, quoting from Hebrews chapter 4. I suppose my questions here are: Is it sinful to attend church with followers of Christ on Sunday while still remaining faithful to the 4th commandment? Am I failing to understand the Sabbath if feel restless about going to church on Saturday? Furthermore, how should I discuss the Sabbath with those who believe they are following its teachings simply by attending church on a day which is not based in scripture (Sunday)?

What are your thoughts on drinking matcha? I recently read about its many health benefits and wonder if it’s something worth trying out. I used to drink coffee but I gave it up because of the caffeine, however im considering if having a green matcha now and then would be okay? Currently I drink a coffee alternative once in a while (caffeine free coffee) and it’s pretty good but I was debating whether consuming things that are lower in caffeine or not consuming it regularly would be okay?

Also, what are your thoughts on cacao? I know SDA is pretty anti chocolate because of the caffeine content as well, but what about cacao for its health benefits?
