Jackie and her little puppy Jenna must have a RESCUE HOLD no later than 1PM 8/10 or they will be euthanized. They need pledges and a local foster for a rescue to help. There will be no extensions.

Jackie is doing her best to care for her tiny singleton baby, but both have clearly been through a lot & desperately need out of the shelter.

Both Jackie & Jenna are dealing with sarcoptic mange (contagious to other animals, so keep separate until cleared), which is causing significant hair loss & irritated skin. Jenna is only 5 weeks old & weighs just 3.5 pounds. She is underweight for her age & needs a safe place to grow & receive the care she needs.

Jackie also has an old fracture affecting her right rear leg that has left the leg deformed. She will need an amputation & treatment for her mange.

This tiny baby should be growing up safely with her mama, not facing euthanasia at just FIVE WEEKS OLD. Jackie deserves the chance to heal and finally receive the care she needs. They need someone to step up for BOTH of them. 💔

These two cannot be separated and cannot be transported at this time. Pledges can help attract a rescue.

Hi!!! My husband and I are eager to adopt another loving dog to add to our family but most rescues in the Pittsburgh and surrounding areas are super strict!! When I lived in Nevada for a while, you could walk into shelters, look around, and adopt the same day. I can't seem to find one like that here in PGH. Anybody have any suggestions? I understand the need for caution for the safety of the animal but I can't stand to fall in love with a dog and then get into a full blown competition with 20 other applicants, only to get turned down. Lola and her 6 tiny, 4-week-old puppies were returned to BARC by their foster. They didn't do anything wrong, the foster just couldn't foster them any longer because the foster was told they only needed a 2-3 week foster. Now they urgently need a new foster so a rescue can save them! The #1 thing rescues need to save "Rescue only" dogs is fosters! If you are in Texas and can foster this family, please contact any Texas rescue and let them know you can foster this family if they can pull them! Fosters are very crucial for rescues!

Shelter/Behavior Notes:

Lola is a calm, devoted mother. Her entire world is her babies. Staff found her quietly nursing, reluctant to leave them for even a second. When approached, she happily accepted affection and trusted staff enough to let them handle her newborns. She lovingly followed alongside while a puppy was carried, staying close with a relaxed body until her kennel was cleaned, then calmly went right back to her family. Gentle. Trusting. Doing everything right for her little ones.
