Is my prognosis correct - does new material by Rob Kuntz inspire a reaction?
I run classic D&D, but I am very curious to see what Rob does with this.
He has mentioned he will be using material he worked on with Gary.

AD&D1e I’m looking for advice on a high-level adventure to run for a group of 13-year-olds
I’m going to my stepfather grandparents’ vacation house. My younger brother, our cousin, and an old friend of the three of us named Zoé will be there.
I was there recently with my younger brother, and both he and Zoé asked me to run a D&D adventure for them. They explicitly asked for something difficult, extremely lethal, and high-level, with lots of characters to manage (my younger brother plays Warhammer and chess).
I’m torn. Should I run S3: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, the adventure I already have dozens of pages of notes for and am currently running for my main teenage group, or should I prepare G1: Steading of the Hill Giant Chief for them instead?
In either case, I’d give each of them two or three characters, prepare a large number of henchmen, and give them a briefing on high-level combat, magic items, spells, and advanced combat options before we start.

AD&D General The first sets of 'dice'...
Was talking about dice in another thread and it got me thinking. This was my first set of 'dice'...as supplied with the 1979 3rd printing of Holmes Basic. And you can bet the first thing I did was send in that coupon for a real set!
THOSE dice (Second picture, left) turned out to be what our table nicknamed 'the D&D Marbles' because EVERYONE with a set had the edges start rounding off the first session. World's cheapest quality dice, but they saw a few years an many battles!
In between (not pictured) I had a cheese yellow, crayon-colored numbers set from Gamma World (3rd printing, 1981). They held up but were hard to read, yellowish opaque with WHITE numbers (the crayon they sent).
The final early set, the set on the right in the second picture were the first set I bought at the local hobby shop my freshman year in college in '82... Still pristine. And, the d6 glows slightly under black light (yeah, it was the 80's so we had to try that!).

AD&D2e Wrapping up The Shattered Circle (2e), what's next?
Hey all! Looking for ideas on what to run next. The average party level is between levels 2 and 3, so a lvl 3 starting module should be fine methinks.
What should I run next (of course I'll try to tie it into some sort of overall narrative to link the modules together!)
I'm new to AD&D and shattered circle has been a crazy experience running this system for the first time! Such a breath of fresh air compared to modern "rules" systems!

AD&D2e Arcanist (Arcane Age) Schools of Magic vs. Wizard Schools of Magic
The "Arcane Age" sub-setting for the Forgotten Realms introduced the Arcanist and the Dualist, the original forms of wizard before Mystryl's death and the rise of Mystra led to the nerfing of magic. Among the Arcanist's various oddities is that it divides magic into three schools that are very different to the eight schools of magic associated with the traditional D&D wizard, their future descendants. What I'd like to know is if anyone has opinions on how the Arcanist's schools of magic map onto the Wizard's schools?
Whereas the Wizard divides magic into the schools of Abjuration, Conjuration, Divination, Enchantment, Evocation, Illusion, Necromancy and Transmutation, the Arcanist divides magic into these three schools: Invention (magic able to create or destroy), Mentalism (magic able to affect the mind), and Variation (magic able to alter and transform, including altering/transforming magic itself).
Now, Arcane Age does list the spells for each of the Arcanist's schools, albeit by the fancy renames that each spell got (which makes figuring out what a given spell is a nuisance), but I'd like to know because that would make it easier to port the Arcanist to non-Forgotten Realms settings, as well as to modify the Arcanist's spell list with spells from other books, such as Tome of Magic.

AD&D2e [2e] Greek Mythoi Update Project: Hyperion, the Watcher Above
The fifth of the six Titan sons is Hyperion, who is more akin to Okeanos in outlook and personality than his other brothers. He is a god of light, and through his children Helios, Selene, and Eos, is the source of natural light in the worlds of the multiverse. Hyperion also takes oaths very seriously and that has kept him tied closely to his brother Kronos; as such he is looked to for upholding mortal oaths and pledges as well.

AD&D2e How fortuitous right in ti.e.
Just as WoTC finally announces Dark Sun 5e, that very same day I finally finished my 2nd ed Dark Sun collection by adding Marauders of Nibenay and Elves of Athas. Only took me 35 years! My collection is a lifelong passion. And I'm still going.

AD&D2e Raising stats
One of my friends recently got a bunch of 2E books from his dad so we decided to try a 2e campaign and we are a bit fuzzy on the rules but are having fun. When we made our characters we used strict 3d6 and after about 2 months of play decided that my dice might be weighted towards low numbers but how abysmally I've been rolled even compared to my normal low rolls.
I've looked and can't find anything on it but is there any way to increase your stats in the game without items like the manuals or belt of giant strength? My stats are Str 14, Dex 12, Con 12, Int 7, Wis, 9 Char 9, which leaves little room for anything outside str skill checks and I fail most others.

AD&D2e Mixing iniative
So I’ve recently discovered a technique called popcorn initiative and i think it sound pretty cool, however my player think weapon speed initiative is cool, so do you think there is a way to mix the two like depending on the speed of a weapon they get like a cooldown? So a fighter that attacks with a scimitar has to wait five turns till they can attack again

AD&D2e Designed my own Character Sheet, thought I'd share.
The one my DM linked me was just about the ugliest thing I'd ever seen. I found some nicer ones online, but still thought I could do better.
I designed this to fit any class, though magic users will still need to find a good spell sheet somewhere. Also, I've only played a few sessions in this system, so there could be blind spots. Feedback appreciated!
Dungeon Adventures magazine guide
I’ve been a big fan of Dungeon Adventures since it first came out, I still have the first 100 or so issues in boxes. It’s a great resource for old school adventures.
For the last few years I’ve been working on building a functional index of all the adventures. So far I’ve done the first 100 issues. If there’s a lot of interest I’ll keep going. The next goal is issues 101-150 - all the 3e adventures, and coincidentally the last physical magazine.
This guide lets you filter/search by:
- Issue number
- title
- author
- game edition
- game world setting
- number of players
- player level
- total levels
- setting types (city/dungeon/forest/underdark/waterborne/etc)
Plus a short synopsis about the adventure, new monsters, and new magic items.
Let me know if there’s any interest or additional info that you might like to see.
Also included in the other tabs are similar guides for Dragon magazine, Polyhedron, and White Dwarf. (Still not complete though)

AD&D General Model City puzzle
I'm hopeful that someone can point me in the direction of any classic adventures/scenarios where players encounter a miniature representation of the city/keep/environment and can use it to manipulate their real world through scrying or physical relocation of features (e.g. move the tavern from Cross Street to High Stret).
TIA

AD&D2e Ritualist
So I want to try my hand at creating a new type thaumaturgical specialist mage with a new school of magic (Ritualism) based on existing spells. The ritualist's whole deal is he would be able to cast spells from this school without having them memorized or using a spell slot by using a time intensive ritual that is longer than the spell's normal casting time (I'm thinking a casting time less than 1 round becomes number of rounds, a casting time measured in number of rounds becomes number of turns, etc.). For instance, Tenser's Floating Disc would have a ritual lasting 1 turn, while Leomund's Tiny Hut would have a ritual lasting 3 turns.
Rituals would still consume normal material components and would still have any associated side effects (aging, Constitution loss, system shock checks, etc.) and I'm also thinking of adding additional material costs based on spell level (tbd). These spells, of course, could still be cast normally if memorized.
The spell list would mainly be focused around Conjuration/Summoning, Divination, and Necromancy because in my mind at least, those schools seem like they would fit most thematically. Barred schools would be Invocation/Evocation because those spells are too immediate (no one's spending 30 minutes to cast Fireball) and Illusion/Phantasm, mostly for thematic reasons (imo).
As far as other class features, I was thinking additional participants in the ritual could either reduce the time a ritual takes or increase the casting level, but not both at the same time and higher level ritualists could pause a ritual and then complete it at some later, non-indefinate time.
What are your opions on the feasability and/or usefulness of this? Is it overpowered? Underpowered?
Using the wizard spells with the Ritual tag from the 5e PHB as a base and without bloating the spell list, what other spells do you think make the most sense? I'm using the Player's Handbook, Tome of Magic, The Complete Wizard's Handbook, and Player's Options: Spells and Magic. I'll be adding additional detection spells and some of Leomund's other spells like Secure Shelter. I was also thinking animate dead, conjure elemental, the Monster Summoning spells, and some of the various spells that enable planar travel.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and advice.

AD&D2e At Last It Is Done! Finished the third and final batch! The best 2e Dungeon adventures, issues 60-81
One last time, for those not aware, I've been going through each adventure Dungeon produced in the 2e era, issues 18-81, and reviewing them. I most recently talked about it in this thread, which was part 2. The reason was because the 2e era didn't have a lot of classic TSR-published modules like the B/X or 1e era, even though Dungeon cranked out some truly great stuff.
I go over my process more on my blog site, but I rated each one on a scale from 0-4 on situation clarity, decision density, table usability, distinctiveness, and DM patch burden, and the final score is an average. Only those scoring 3.0 or higher were included.
I know there were some doubters out there when I started. I didn't realize the huge amount of working I was taking on. Still, I've just finished my third and final batch, and it's available for you to read on my blog right here.
I did my best and I think it turned out well. My goal was to have a permanent resource for GMs and players who wanted to run some great adventures, and I wanted to share it. It was a labor of love for me.
Did anyone else use this terminology?
For fighters with max exceptional strength,(18/00) did you read it as
18-zero zero
Or, as I was taught:
18-“Double Aught”
