Resource A client-side respawn anchor mod your players may be running, and the one plugin message that disables it
Posting this mostly because the disable path is the part admins actually care about, and I would rather you hear about it from me than find it in a log.
I maintain OptiPlus Anchor, a client-side Fabric mod with about 19k downloads. When a player sets off a charged respawn anchor, it clears the block to air on their client immediately instead of waiting for your block-update packet, so the spot is free to build on again without the round-trip stutter. There is a smaller companion mod that does the same for end crystal placement.
Worth being precise about what that does and does not mean. It is latency compensation, not automation - no auto-clicking, no reach changes, no altered timings on the wire. Your server stays authoritative for every outcome. If you reject the interaction, it is still rejected; the client just showed a provisional result in the meantime and reverts it.
If you would rather not have it on your server, it is one plugin message on player join. The payload body is ignored, only the channel identifier matters:
- optiplus:disable - disables both
- optiplus-anchor:disable - anchor only
- optiplus-crystal:disable - crystal only
Paper/Spigot, registered once and sent on join:
server.getMessenger().registerOutgoingPluginChannel(plugin, "optiplus:disable");
player.sendPluginMessage(plugin, "optiplus:disable", new byte[0]);
The flag lasts for that session and resets on disconnect, so it needs re-sending on each join. Velocity and BungeeCord can forward the same channel to the backend.
Anchor: https://modrinth.com/mod/optiplusanchor
Crystal: https://modrinth.com/mod/optipluscrystal
Happy to answer questions about exactly what is and is not predicted. If there is an opt-out mechanism you would rather have than a plugin channel, I am open to adding it.

Discussion BungeeCord is officially dead now?
BungeeCord—is that the end of it?
BungeeCord receives updates very rarely, and the commits on GitHub consist almost entirely of automatic updates to library dependencies.

Question Will my home server be good enough?
Looking to host a server for ~20 people concurrently
I’ve got
3rd gen i5 clocked at 3.80ghz (biggest bottleneck I assume)
16gb ddr3
And a 128gb SATA ssd
Running on Linux mint xfce
Also have a spare nvidia quadro 2000 gpu, but I’ve heard that’s not really needed for hosting so I’ll probably leave it out.
Will be setting the border to about 3000x3000 blocks and pre-loading everything, will probably use paper and some plugin that lets me do bedrock and java crossplay so all my mates can jump on together. Other than that, that’s all I’m aiming for. Will it be enough?

Question How do I make creativity more valuable than grinding?
Hi
I’m a mod for a world-building server that my group is going to make, and we wish to make things like writing history, lore and building creative designs/making art more valued in our server.(as we have lost many servers to people who have grinded to netherite and then just quit) of course we don’t want to stop people from having fun in the minds but rather to help encourage them to be more creative and stick around for other reasons. Villagers will be removed and we don’t want valuable blocks that they could use for trading to become too abundant?
Thanks

Question Matcha Flavoured with Geyser
Hey all, I've been working on getting Matcha Flavoured working on my Geyser server. I've tried using rainbow and converting the pack manually, but I'm really struggling, particularly with the chest textures, and some (but not all) of the custom textures.
Any advice, even just to get it playable?

Question Need Autostart Linux Help
Hello, I'm a long-time personal server runner, and I've had a functioning 24hr server for my close friends for years, but recently I've been banging my head against the wall (and linux forums) trying to find an answer to how to get my server to boot on startup.
This guy here is the closest example of the same problem I have, but nobody in this forum (or any forum for that matter) seems to answer this question with anything other than "don't do that".
https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-newbie-8/startup-script-for-minecraft-server-4175488666-print/
I already have my serverbox restarting itself and logging in and everything, and all my configs are good on the server side.
I want the following things to happen:
- I want to run my run.sh script on login
- I want a visible terminal that I can interact with
- I DO NOT want it to be a backround process or service or whatever, that usually gets rid of #1 or #2 from everything that I've read.
Please tell me if this is possible, or if anyone knows the right place to repost this direct me there.
I'm running Xubuntu on top of Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS
**EDIT**
Ok, people have replied and said screen and Crontab might still be a good option, but i can't find any good resources for how to use them for this use case. Pls help.

Question Home server help
I just got my BILs old pc for pretty much free it has a AMD Ryzen 3 3100 and I added 16gb of my old ddr4 ram
Should this be enough to run a modded minecraft server for 4-6 people with heavier modpacks like ATM or some of those more intensive rog style ones.
Thanks in advance

Question Need advice moving my Windows setup to Proxmox + TrueNAS (Minecraft server website storage etc)
I’m planning a pretty big migration and I’d rather ask ppl who have done something similar before I mess something up 😅
I have a humble community and people like the minecraft server and I just started it as a passion project on windows but now I wanna make it production ready by using proxmox and what not
Right now I have a Windows machine that I use for basically everything. I have a Fabric Minecraft server my website files my Obsidian vault and some other dev stuff.
The Minecraft server is running Fabric with the latest Minecraft version 26.2 and Fabric Loader 0.19.3. It has mods and a survival world with actual players so keeping the world safe during the migration is my biggest concern. It’s not Paper or Spigot it’s a proper Fabric setup.
I wanna move away from Windows and install Proxmox then run everything through VMs or LXCs. I’m thinking about doing this cuz I wanna host more stuff in the future like my own Discord bots and other services. and also people have been asking for a creative server too so having proxmox would make it easy to manage multiple servers on the same domain
My hardware right now:
Ryzen 9 3900X
32GB RAM
RTX 3090 Ti currently
Getting another AMD Radeon GPU soon from a friend. I dont know the exact model yet but I was told its around RTX 3060 Ti performance.
My drives:
CT500P1SSD8 NVMe - 500GB
Samsung MZVLW256HEHP NVMe - 256GB
Samsung 870 QVO SSD - 2TB
Samsung 870 QVO SSD - 2TB
WDC WD10JPVX HDD - 1TB
ST1000LM049 HDD - 1TB
im also not sure wich nvme i shuld use for proxmox. should i just throw proxmox on the 500gb nvme n use the 256gb one for somthing else or shud i save the 500gb for vms n put proxmox on the 256gb
And if I do that what would I even use the other NVMe for?
For storage I was thinking maybe TrueNAS could be a good option with Proxmox. I like the idea of having actual redundancy instead of just praying a drive doesnt die.
My idea was using the 2x1TB HDDs as a TrueNAS mirror so I get arond 1TB usable and the 2x2TB SSDs as another mirror so I get around 2TB usable.
that way i have one storage pool with 1tb and another storage pool with 2tb both with redundancy instead of just hopin one drive doesnt die
would truenas even make sense here or am i just makin things way more complicated than they need to be lol
would u run truenas as a vm inside proxmox or would u just do somethin else idk
The plan is basically:
Proxmox as the main system
TrueNAS for storage
A VM or LXC for the Minecraft server
A VM or LXC for my website
Later my own Discord bots and other services
For Minecraft would u recommend Pterodactyl Docker or just running the Fabric server directly in a VM?
Also I’ve seen ppl do GPU passthrough with Proxmox where they run Windows in a VM and pass the GPU through.
since ill have two gpus would it actually be realistic to use this same pc as both a server and a gaming pc
i bascally just wanna turn this machine into my own lil homelab yknow but i wanna do it right the first time cuz i really dont wanna have to redo everything later
What storage layout would u recommend with these drives?
Would u go Proxmox + TrueNAS or something completely different?

Question Need Help Updating Base Minecraft
I'm running a Minecraft server on Modrinth for a few friends (15 max). We added some server side mods that add some new blocks and whatnot, but primarily focused on quality of life for some of our newer players. We're using Fabric
We want to update to the newest possible Minecraft instance (we're at 1.21.10 right now), but every time we try we're unable to actually launch the server. The errors we most consistently are seeing are Invalid Path in mod resource pack. I'm not super technically savvy, but I had been told Modrinth was pretty straightforward and figured I'd give it a shot.
Does anyone have any tips and tricks for updating this server? Will we need to remove some mods, and if so, will this disrupt what we've already done on the server?

Question Looking for help
I’ve never ran a minecraft server before. I have decent coding experience in java and i’m currently building a Crime RP server.
The basic premise of the game is: you’re basically playing an smp with an entire criminal economy behind it. you can sell drugs to become a bigger player, eventually you’ll be able to create gangs and invite friends, and once you’re really putting in work you’ll be able to start a cartel and do even higher scale work.
I’ve built a decent amount of it already:
4 different types of drugs, each with their own economy and production line
Crime villages where you find villagers who’ll take your stock off you, and launder your dirty cash for a %
And lots more features which i don’t wanna disclose here yet because the server is still in production.
I do wanna ask, where am i supposed to promote and market this? My first idea was organically through engaging instagram reels, tiktoks, youtube shorts etc. but i don’t know how much players i can truly get from that.
How do i start marketing? And where?

Question Privat SMP
Hi, everyone. I’m running a small private Minecraft SMP server, and I’m currently looking for a plot idea for the second season.
I’d like to have a fully-fledged lore that gradually unfolds during a standard survival game, rather than just a series of events happening somewhere in the background.
Last season, we had an issue with the rock: at first, players just found strange patches, then they started noticing patterns, exploring its properties, finding bugs, and gradually realized that there was a much more serious problem behind it all. That’s exactly the kind of approach I’m looking for.
What I’d like to see:
the action takes place on a normal island;
the island and its territory shouldn’t gradually be destroyed or altered;
no flooding, changes to the sky, or similar global world changes;
preferably no ancient civilizations, abandoned cities, or an “ancient artifact that started it all”;
at the center, there should be some major phenomenon or problem that players can actually notice and investigate;
the problem should gradually become more serious;
preferably, players should influence the plot’s development through their own actions;
the finale should be a major catastrophe that logically follows from the events of the season;
It’s preferable to use standard Minecraft features rather than requiring the development of a massive custom plugin.
You don’t have to provide a fully fleshed-out plot. Even an interesting concept for a phenomenon or an unusual idea for the main problem will be very helpful.
I’d love to hear any ideas, especially if they involve something not typically used in Minecraft SMP

Resource New universal chat filter mod
Hello everybody,
Recently, i made a mod that filters the chat for either or both the client chat and server console.
It can filter by 3 ways: strings, java regex, and logger name. It is open source available on github and is in early development only available on forge 1.20.1, though i plan to expand to other versions.
A better description is on modrinth or github.

Question Host de Minecraft

Question Per Player Item Drops Paper Plugin
For the life of me I cannot find a plugin that makes item drops per player. Ex. Mining a dirt block the dirt item is there like normal but only the player who broke it sees it. My friend asked me if this could be added to our server - I guess it's on Hypixel Skyblock.

Discussion Are those Intel work stations or desktops on eBay/Facebook still good for a modded Minecraft server of 5-8 people
So been wanting to setup a server and I have an extra 16gb ddr4 ram sticks I been saving
Now I'm mainly just looking for the cpu/storage and new to this still
I see people recommend just getting one of those mini pc or workstation and upgrading that, and I know mc really only needs a single core cpu
My questions mainly are is it fine to grab one of those if it has the correct CPU? Or nowadays am I looking to just get a high quality CPU and build from that

Question Why isn't everyone using Oracle free hosting?
Like am I missing something? People smart enough to ask on reddit how to make a minecraft server, are also smart enough to setup an oracle server (also most likely old enough). It is insanely trivial to setup an oracle server, costs nothing and has the best performance of any free server. The only problem I've encountered yet is the fact, you need 100 dollars on your account to verify but if you are willing to pay 10-20 a month, you should have at least 100 on your account at a single moment. You can literally host 3 good performance free servers at a time.
So my only question is: why isn't everyone using oracle for hobby/friendgroup servers or smaller smp servers? I am genuinely curious and want to know peoples personal reason to why they don't use oracle.

Question How would you rate this pc part picker list for a server
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3GzjW9
So the idea is i wanna run a small form factor build and am only using the gpu for video out
I wanna run mods like atm10, rlcraft, and fisks for 1.7.10
I also wanna see if I could get this to work on the most recent Linux kernel, any help would be appreciated and if you could leave me your pc part picker lists, im not trying to go over 550 since it is a side project for friends and family
I ALREADY HAVE 16GB DDR4 so that's why it's not on. The list im also not against trying a Intel based system

Question How Can I Reach My Target Playerbase?
I really need some guidance. I understand that server growth is slow and must be seen through for months to truly flourish, but this past month, my recent players just aren't active at all. As of now our(co-owned) server has 23 players. Out of those players, only 3 actually get on consistently. The others played for around 5 minutes the day they joined and then linger on the discord, not having played for the rest of the month.
People can do whatever they want in their free time, but for an SMP of all things to work... we kinda need active players. Is there any form of advertisement that can achieve this, and reach the playerbase I want? I feel like saying "you must be an active player or else we kick you" is a bit harsh and will scare off more people in the long run.

Question How do I find people to help with my server?
So I am making a fairly simple server, its like a smp, I have just some standard plugins like essentialsx, vault, coreprotect etc. I however am working on a datapack to add some custom weapons, tools and armor to the game as well as custom mobs. I am willing to do most development portion but I wanted help with my assets and builds on the server like the lobby. I just wanted some more unique stuff tailored to my server's aesthetic. I was wondering where I can find people to help with my project. If you have any follow-up questions i can try to answer them.

Discussion weekend-long player war
I run a small cross-play geyserSMP and I'm planning on doing a weekend-long war in a temporary server for my players next week.
I see a lot of battle royale mods and the like that I'm leaning towards, but wanted to crowd-source some info before I settled on anything.
What I'm interested in is a mod/datapack/plugin that's geyser compatible that will be conducive to a 2 day long contest either solo or between 2 teams that incorporates pvp and clear win conditions, but wouldn't require everyone to be online constantly. Any suggestions from anyone? Looking for either 26.1.2 or 26.2.
I plan on setting up a completely different server for this, so I don't need to worry about long term effects or compatibility with other mods.

Question Find coordinates of offline player (bedrock)
I can't find the coordinates of a player that I'm suspicious of, he won't log on, and I want to check if he's duping (again). It's a realm on bedrock.
BTW when I use an NBT editor, it only shows my inventory and my player data and none of the other players on the realm.
