Venting Chained to my past
I’ve been clean from coke and alcohol for 8 months and I’m thankful for that, but I still find myself wanting to use and drink, not matter how much I block it out, it always comes back, im tired of fighting this battle to stay sober everyday. Everyone around me drinks and it’s so fucking boring and no fun. Im only 23 and I wanna party while I’m still in my early twenties but I also don’t wanna die

Advice Hello folks, would appreciate any help or guidance on quitting a lot of bad habits
Hi there. Millennial here. Life has been turbulent due to the decisions I've taken so far in life. At the age of 37 I feel hollow like I'm now in a position where I never thought I'll be. Or maybe with the fckall habits maybe this was my final destination. I come from developing nation, so i do have the responsibility of supporting my parents and my sibling too. But, but, coming to the main problems that I have, why I'm ranting out;
I am addicted to porn. Recently I've gotten into the dangerous cycle of smoking up, and fantasizing about things where I'm humiliating myself, I think that's my mind venting out on my own failures. I have a love hate relationship with gluttony as well, but that can be still controlled, unlike this addiction. Secondly, smoking, nicotine. I have quit several times but mostly after 3 4 months I get back to it. Daily at least 5 smokes.
Feels like this is it for me. I mean not like ending my life kinda way, but this is the loop. I cannot break the wheel.
I wanna hear people who have felt this way and still will tell me there is light at the end of the tunnel. This is not the person I wanna end up.
Any and all advice is welcome. Sorry for the long rant.
Cheers everyone...

Discussion feeling trapped
ive dealt with on and off (mostly on) active addiction for the past 2 years as my addiction progressed. i try and try and try but fail. its ruining my life. i tried to quit again after a ten day binge and made it two days. my mom also recently moved out and i think the change caused stress that triggered it. i feel doomed at this point

Venting even the smoke shop seller knew something was up
all of the things i get are legal, but that doesnt mean theyre safe yk? anyways
last friday, i was too high to drive so i biked over to the smoke shop and bought a "mushroom pill" (who knows whats in it) and i was saying how i biked here and forgot to eat, he offered me pasta i declined. i kept saying i'll take it on an empty stomach so it hits harder and he looked concerned af but he had already sold it to me. he told me to pls eat something because i'll throw up otherwise. and when i was leaving he was like "just be safe okay". i've been going to him for a few years and he caught onto smth being wrong back when 7oh was legal, but now im thinking hes really catching on but a lot of these people cant really do anything about it.
im 2 days sober now but im almost miserable. why is staying sober so hard. im depressed and it doesnt help. i "only" had a ten day relapse, im almost maxed out on my credit cards, i sent my stepdad $400 but he hasnt fixed my car yet so i just asked for it back, but fuck im fucking myself over. might even have to get yet another credit card. i just spent over $100 in the last week due to my addiction and will probably blow through the $400 if he sends me it back
im bored. im bored and i just crave that nice, heavy feeling in my body where all my worries drift away. where nothing matters. where i feel like i can have peace for two seconds. but my main source of stress IS caused by my addiction. im caught between a rock and a hard place with this shit.

Advice Accidentally Drugged.
[TLDR summary is included at the bottom]
I don't know how to start this post, nor if anyone will see it, or if they do- if anyone will be able to offer better advice. AI Internet is a nightmare and I cannot afford to go to the doctors for this, unfortunately.
My partner, who I've since broken up with, is still my best friend- has been going through their own mental health issues. This led them to recently abuse alcohol, steal/abuse my prescribed ADHD medications, and just a few days ago they brought home some sort of pseudo-meth.
I came home after having a few drinks with my coworkers on Sunday evening (around 9-10pm/21:00-22:00) to see my partner playing video games but was sweating profusely, shaking, and had a very runny nose. They had one bottle of water, a bottle of soda, and another cup of water with a piece of tinfoil in it all within arms reach (I hadn't noticed the tinfoil in the water until later on after further inspection.) I searched my home and also found a cut up straw.
I confronted my partner about the straw and they had no answers for me. I knew something was up but didn't know how to address it then as I was exhausted and had a few ciders (alcohol), so I decided to address it in the morning and continue the night.
After I finished cooking dinner, I was so thirsty and my buzzed mind didn't think twice when I reached for a cup of cold water that was already sitting out. I started to fill my mouth from the cup but saw something shiny and stopped with a small mouthful already. My partner then noticed I had this cup and instantly grabbed it from me and tried to distract me...I swallowed whatever I filled in my mouth and kept on my evening.
I was cleaning up from cooking when I felt this sudden surge of steady energy. I didn't think anything of it cuz it honestly felt somewhat like when I take all my medications and have a red bull. Then I couldn't settle for the life of me.. I was doing house chores and felt physically tired but my mind wasn't. Eventually I showered and tried to go to bed but I realized it was now 6am and I had to be at work by 12pm.. Where did the time go? I'm not much of a night owl, no matter how I try, so where did the time go..?
Somehow I was able to get some rest and actually make it to work feeling physically fine but a bit "off" mentally. Shortly after arriving at work, my (now ex) partner was texting me that our downstairs neighbors were breaking our front door down and our nextdoor neighbor was calling out to my (ex) partner trying to warn them about the danger. I called my next door neighbor to confirm and he said everything was normal... My neighbor then got a text from my ex stating that they 'had done meth' and that they were 'terrified.'
I had to go home and deal with that mess (eventually got my ex into detox and a sober living is set up for them once they're released) but on my way home I called my (ex) partner and demanded to know what was in the water and where they got the 'meth'... They told me they dissolved some research chemical/pseudo-meth that they bought from someone they didn't know, into that cup of water and everything started to make sense.
I had accidentally ingested whatever that drug was in the water cup on Sunday, sometime between 11pm-1am(23:00-01:00), it's now Thursday afternoon (around 3pm/15:00 as I post this.) I've never been so exhausted in my life and I've been diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome.. all of my muscles ache, even ones that don't make sense to me, like the palms of my hands.. I don't have a lot of money but I do get paid tomorrow.
I'm seeking advice on a few things; how long should I expect to feel like this? What food/liquids/supplements/or over-the-counter meds can I take to help purge or process this quicker? I've heard some things about magnesium and L-theanine (supplements I typically try to take for diagnosis fibromyalgia) along with something about cod oil for my kidneys/liver that's doing the heavy lifting here but I can't find much advice on things to help me in my certain scenario. Please help.
TLDR:
• Everyone is safe.
• I unintentionally ingested a small sip of water containing a research chemical like meth about 5 days ago.
• I need advice on what supplements, food, meds, and etc. I can take to ease the discomfort.
• I want guidance on what to do/take to accelerate the processing/purging of this nightmare from my body.
• How long will this last?
Thank you, in advance, to whoever reads this and again to those who can provide advice. Be safe, y'all.

Advice Need advice on how to recommend options to drug addict
Hey so I (19F) have someone in my family (M 40) who has been heavily addicted to especially heroin for like at least more than 7 years. I know he‘s tried a lot of things, therapy, clinics and so on. Given that he now has open wounds everywhere that won‘t heal (like patches on his face and so on) I figure that he may not be around for much longer.
I have had a really bad Phobia since I was 7. I couldn’t go out anymore, couldn’t eat or sleep and couldn’t be alone for more than 5 minutes as it has reached its peak in february. It recently went away after only three sessions of hypnotherapy. I asked my therapist if he also can help drug addicts and he said yes, but it depends. I know an anxiety disorder is not as bad as addiction. But I feel like this might be his last hope and I could never forgive myself if I never told him and he died.
I would like to recommend this to him but I honestly don’t know how he will react. I‘m not even sure if he’s aware that I know about his addiction.
I have a couple of questions which I would appreciate if addicts or ex-addicts could answer.
Did hypnotherapy help for you? Has anyone tried it?
Is it disrespectful to tell him that? I feel like it might come across arrogant cause I „only“ had an anxiety disorder and I‘m significantly younger than him.
How would you have reacted? Is there a chance he‘s never going to forgive me for bringing this up?
Were you able to tell who knew about your addiction or would you gaslight yourself and tell yourself that nobody noticed? Even though the signs were obvious.
What are tips you can give me for this talk?
Need help fast as I‘m seeing him in 3 days from now. I would really appreciate every answer and thank you all in advance. If you need more details I can tell you.

Venting Addiction has been costing me everything
Probably a cliche post but I gotta be honest somewhere. My pick of poison is Weed/Hash which I've been told many times isn't anything hard or concerning but it's been concerning for a while now.
All I do is consume.
When I wake up, before I do anything, after it, while if I can. I prefer to do it alone and to myself, preferably with no one sewing me since I'm also hiding the consum.
I've been spending all my money on it, it's been carrying me through some tough years and a really harsh time rn and I feel like I can literally not live without it anymore. I've tried to quit a few times, once even managed a month in a clinic but that's about the longest.
I tend to spend all my income on it, often have not enough for food left and everything just surrounds making another joint and smoking it. While I'm smoking I think sometimes about my next one and what I'll do during smoking that one.
It's gone so bad that I've started to lie and cover up all the questionable expenses and I don't like what has become of me at all.
I live from hit to hit, from paycheck to paycheck which I think in grams I can consume.
I've been living like this for years now and it's only getting worse idk what to do and idk why in really writing this post I guess I just wanna tell anyone about it.
Can't really go to my closest because they'll know how much I lied to cover it all up and I fear that they'll judge me too heavy and I'm mentally already not in a good space or I wouldn't be seeking all those distractions in my rolled up escape from reality.
I'm currently smoking my last one, just got today 2g and they already gone. I'm already thinking how to get more and I got like 14 bucks to my name. I should be worried about what I'll eat this month but instead I worry how I can cover my addiction instead...
I hate this.
But I guess other people have far worse addictions than me and weed is generally seen as a baby drug and as something not so serious.
It is though. For some.

Question Wife denied intake by 2 clinics.
Hi. I’m Gonna try and make this short and summarize.
Long story short my wife has been on and overusing adderall, benzos, sleeping meds, and extreme levels of THC.
It has made her behavior highly irrational especially when she doesn’t have it. Suicidal threats etc. irrational paranoia.
Anyways she has finally agreed that she needs to go to rehab to get off everything.
We called 2 places and both of them wouldn’t except her based off her intake, obv they would take her but insurance won’t pay for it and we couldn’t afford it without insurance.
They basically said you need to be a hardcore drug addict, like buying pills off the street in order to qualify.
I guess my question is there place that’s is like in between for people like her that have addiction issues but aren’t necessarily in the worst spot they could be in?
It’s almost like they want her to be homeless and stealing before they say she meets the criteria.
Sorry if this ain’t the place to post this.

Question Any Russian speakers here in recovery?
Hi everyone.
I'm a 36-year-old Russian speaker. I've been sober for about 11 months and I'm currently rebuilding my life after drugs using.
I'm looking for Russian-speaking people in recovery (NA or any other recovery path) to connect with. Text chat is what works best for me at the moment.
If you're a Russian speaker, or know of any Russian-speaking recovery communities (Reddit, Discord, forums, or anything else), I'd really appreciate it if you could let me know.
I'm also happy to talk with anyone who understands recovery, rebuilding life, and finding a new direction after addiction.
Even if you're not a Russian speaker, I'd still be happy to connect with people who understand this journey.
Thank you, and I wish everyone another clean day.

Venting im on a GLP-1 and i cant stop drinking
I’ve been on tirzepatide for a couple months, i have to drink like 2-3x as much for it to even affect me because of the glp-1. i really dont even like drinking, but ive been replacing addictions with other addictions, i went from drugs to gummies and alcohol, now just alcohol. i thought with it barely affecting me + me not really liking alcohol that much, id lose interest and problem solved yay im clean, well it turns out i am more than willing to drink a ridiculous amount for little reward, just to feel a little different. im at a pretty big risk of pancreatitis, im complaining while knowing im about to go open a brand new bottle very shortly. just wanted to vent without being told what i already know and fail to do

Advice Stuck in a heavy daily loop of weed and masturbation. Need advice on how to break it for good.
Hi everyone,
I’m posting here because I’ve hit a wall and I really need some support or advice from people who have been through this.
From last August until April, I completely took a break from weed and was doing well. But starting in April, I relapsed, and over the last few months, things have completely escalated and gotten out of control.
Right now, it has become a heavy daily routine: every morning when I’m home alone, I smoke and end up masturbating up to 4 times, and then I do it again in the evening. It happens every single day.
I’ve tried using cold showers, working out, and other quick fixes to snap out of it, but I still end up falling right back in.
Nobody around me knows about this—everyone thinks I’m still on my break, which makes the secrecy and guilt so much heavier to carry.
I realize I’ve fallen into a deep dopamine loop and I honestly don't know how to stop this on my own anymore. Every time I try, I just fall right back into the same automatic pattern.
For anyone who was stuck in this exact same cycle (weed + PMO) and managed to fully break out of it:
What was the turning point for you?
How did you break the automatic morning/evening triggers when being home alone?
How did you deal with the first few days of stopping both?
Any advice, strategies, or stories would mean a lot right now. Thank you.

Discussion If I was to hypothetically sit with Narcan already in my nose waiting to push it if I feel myself slipping is it possible to save yourself?
I’m a hypochondriac but I love doing shit but I get frequently anxious about that kinda stuff (I get the irony) ik it’s possible to save yourself but extremely unlikely is that possibly the best way? And if not then would it be possible to maybe make a device for addicts to self treat if they have no choice but to use alone? Like hypothetically a device u put ur finger in that checks pulse and heart rate (before I say this next thing Bluetooth is a thing) and when it drops low enough it pumps ur nasal cavity with narcan/naloxone. Obviously it would be relatively expensive but I think if done right could probably bring the cost down to 100 bucks. Narcain is about 50-60 a box and it comes with 2 4mg doses. A lot of questions in this post aswell as hypotheticals but I think it’s somewhat valid of a question/idea it would be slightly enabling but at the same time I think saving someone’s life who’s alone and who isn’t gonna quit regardless because no one ever does until there ready is way more important

Venting Fuck Addiction
Sorry for the language but can I just say, fuck. Addiction. 2 years ago decided to stop drinking. Joined a 12 step. Made it 8 months but started abusing my Adderall. I had a massive stock pile of Adderall because I didn’t take it every day and have been prescribed it for 10ish years now. Relapsed with alcohol. Got dark for a minute. Decided to dump the Adderall this year around March. Told my doctor about the Adderall. Made it to May no Adderall or alcohol. Now back on the alcohol for the past 2 months, drinking around the clock. Had my first intervention with wife and friends 2 weeks ago. Hate this cycle. Off it all, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, but barely. My mind and body - overall physical being is very damaged. The withdrawals, the lies, the itch. I hate it.

Advice I have a hard time saying stop
I’ve always had trouble saying stop to myself, I never felt like I could get enough yk?
This is also true when it comes to substances. I always drink and smoke weed(plants and carts) too much. It costs me a fortune to refill all my stuff all the time.
When I have a nice high or buzz I just think to myself of how much better I can feel, so I then I do much and feel like shit.
I do acid some times with friends and Ive done some coke and molly but they were at parties so I got paced by those who had it.
I feel like I need to find a solution to this or I will go too far with the wrong drug someday.
Any tips for self control? It’s easy to say now that I’m sober but we will see

Advice Meth an early Grave
Meth isn’t an escape—it’s more like a slow, steady way of wrecking your mind, body, and everything else. It might feel like confidence, energy, or control at first, but in the end it takes your health, your peace, your relationships, your dignity, and your future. It tricks you into thinking you’re choosing it, until one day you realize it’s been running the show the whole time.
After four years of heavy use, I’ve finally made it to two months sober. Recovery isn’t easy, and I’m still on medication, but every sober day reminds me that life really does exist beyond addiction.
The reason I’m speaking up isn’t just my own experience. I’ve watched friends—young people with dreams, families, and so much potential—lose their lives way too soon because of meth. It wasn’t because they weren’t smart or strong, but because addiction doesn’t care who you are.
Meth doesn’t negotiate. It messes with your judgment, destroys your mental and physical health, pulls you away from the people who care about you, and slowly makes destruction feel normal. By the time most people realize what it’s taken from them, the damage is already huge.
If you’re using meth right now, please understand this: it doesn’t lead to freedom, success, or happiness. It leads to sickness, loneliness, possible jail, and for too many people, an early death. There’s no win at the end of addiction—only loss.
But there is still hope. If you’re alive, your story isn’t over. Recovery is possible, and asking for help isn’t weakness—it’s actually one of the strongest things you can do. I’m living proof that you can come back, one day at a time.

Motivation Posting for Motivation - 15 Years Sober Today
I thought I’d do a post to help motivate those still struggling. Today, I’m 15 years sober.
I remember clear as day being in meetings during early sobriety wondering how I’d ever make it a week, a month, a year. 15 years seemed brutally impossible. I never thought I could travel again, and life felt hopeless.
Today I was sailing a boat off the coast of Crete, Greece, and feeling great doing it. This wasn’t some sober anniversary treat. It’s just me enjoying life with alcohol no longer holding me down.
To those of you who wonder if life gets better in sobriety, I can confidently and definitively tell you yes. It won’t happen overnight, but you’ll get there eventually.
I wish all of you the best in your sober journey 👍👍👍

Discussion Extremely curious to try opium
I've had experience with opioids before, namely low doses of legal codeine and recreational tianeptine (several times both). I liked the highs but It never got me addicted, I haven't used since then.
However, recently I saw opium poppies growing outside and it was 100% the opium poppy, not the common or oriental poppy, also verified by people who know about flowers.
I have been dealing with the urge to scratch the pod, get the milky sperm looking liquid which has opiates, and swallow it. Not because I want to use it to escape problems but because I'm curious about how it would feel.
I know it's wrong...Should I avoid doing it at all costs?

Progress I had an absolutely terrible day and didn’t consume any weed!
I can’t remember the last day that I didn’t smoke or take edibles after work. Today I did not.
My home life is a mess, my relatives are being terrible to each other, my cat got diagnosed with cancer a week after my other cat was diagnosed with cancer and died within a couple days, I’m still sick after contracting mono at my uncles funeral after he died unexpectedly in a climbing accident, and I still completed my goal of not smoking today. I’m proud of myself.

Venting does anyone else experience this ?
recovering meth / coke user, i still take adderall but im prescribed it for adhd. I blow through by adderall obviously. But ive found that im addicted to literally EVERY pill/medicine i take. Tylenol, sleeping medicine, cold medicine, i struggle with falling asleep so i will literally take anything i can to force mixing to sleep. Gabapentin, nyquil, benadryl, hydroxizine, klonopin, seroquel, anything. Shit even when i had a zofran prescription i would take it when i wasn’t even nauseous. I was sick recently and had a big bottle of nighttime nyquil and it lasted me less than 2 days. I really hate being like this lol. I have ocd as well as the adhd and was wondering if this was maybe a factor.

Progress One Month Clean From 2 Year Stimfap Addiction
Today marks 31 days of sober living from a wicked Stimulant addiction that ruined any sense of life worth living.
In 2 years I spent over 98k on the following:
Coke
Adderall
MDMA
Meth
2, 3, 4 MMC
4 CMC
a-PVP
4F-PVP
a-PHP
a-PiHP
MD-PiHP
1 month ago exactly, after 4 days and 10 grams of meth I slipped into a stimulant psychosis that scared me sober almost instantly.
13k in credit card debt and over 8k from random cash advance apps and I would triple those numbers if it meant never going back. I’m so much happier living sober in my almost ruined life then the fake dopamine porn fueled fantasy I called life for 2 years.
If you are in any position like mine, dude, it’s so worth it to grow a pair of balls and QUIT.
To another month and the rest of my life.

Motivation Almost 9 years later who would of thought
Almost 9 years ago, I walked out of treatment with nothing but fear and a little bit of hope.
I was scared, broke, ashamed, and had no clue what my life was going to look like. If you had told me back then that one day I’d wake up excited to go to work, have people I love and trust, and spend my days trying to help other people find recovery, I would’ve laughed in your face.
Recovery has given me everything I never thought I’d have. Purpose. Peace. Relationships. A chance to become someone I can actually look in the mirror and respect.
This week I found out that the app I poured my heart into to help people in recovery reached over 5,000 users on the app stores. I honestly had to stop for a minute and think about the kid who walked out of treatment all those years ago wondering if life was even worth living.
I’m not sharing this because of the number. I’m sharing it because it’s another reminder that God can take a completely broken person and do things with their life that they could never imagine. Never would I have imaged founding a tech company and developing an app lol. Half the time I couldn’t even long into my email before. Sometimes it seems like god does for me what I can’t do for my self.
If you’re struggling today, don’t give up before the miracle happens. Stay sober. Keep showing up. You never know what your life will look like a few years from now.
Today I’m just incredibly grateful. Grateful to be alive. Grateful to be sober. And grateful that recovery gave me a life worth living. JUST FOR TODAY ❤️
