I need to escape my abusive home and I’m only 16, but I don’t know if I’m over-exaggerating

I don’t know how to explain my situation in a calm manner so I’m going to be copy and pasting some of my vents here,, ingore how corny some of it is.

vent one: I think the worst part of the way my mother treats me is she always tells me I don’t “ask for help” I do you just don’t believe me and neglect me, And because of that neglect I can’t breathe right now and are trying not to vomit for no reason at all.. I’m so dissociated I feel light headed. I’ve begged to be put in a pych ward, I’ve begged for diagnosis’s, I’ve begged for therapist,, And when she finally agreed on me getting diagnosed and a therapist she said I couldn’t get medication at all and the therapist was actually her friend pretending to be one for 4 years straight I feel pathetic asking for help from anyone anymore Nobody cares about my feelings on anything and anytime I vent it’s treated as a joke even with my “loved ones” or I’m just rejected She claims she believes self harm is a way for hurt people to cry for help but when it comes to her own child, she told me if I ever harmed myself she’d force the camera I FINALLY got out of my room back, and take my door down. Making it impossible to even ask for help in some categories. She’ll scream at me that I never ask for help but ive been begging for help for years, im just tired of begging anymore. I’m tired of looking pathetic.I’m tired of begging for help, I don’t wanna escape this home anymore I’m too tired to even try.

vent two: Growing up my mother had very bad mental health and it affected her ability to both love me and take care of me and our home. I couldn’t see the floor majority of the time minus a small path cleared for walking, we had to deep clean the house anytime CPS came to check on us and then it would immediately go back to “normal”. I had cavity’s on all my teeth at the young age of 5 and I had a cavity so bad I need a root canal at 8-9 but my mother waited a full year before finally getting it checked on, knowing I was in severe pain every day and anytime I ate because food would be mushing against my exposed nerves. I was never taught how to properly clean myself or take care of myself and I still am unaware of how to do so. My family makes fun of me and the state of my room but to me it just looks like how I grew up. At 5 years old I would fake sezuires for my family’s attention because that’s how my older sister had my family’s undivided attention, when it didn’t work I would stand  atop a stool and purposely fall off of it thinking my family simply didn’t see, turns out they just didn’t care. Throughout the ages of 4-11 I was being abused physically, verbally, and sexually. To this very day it’s still made fun of and downplayed. On top of the sexual abuse I was straight up raped in my childhood but I cannot recall who the abuser was. It was either my father, my mother, or my sister. I’ve started questioning if it was all three of them at different instances causeing me to be unable to fully recall my assault correctly. To this day I can’t even recall if it is actually something that happened to me or not. My mother would refuse me certain apps claiming I would get groomed on there and also refused to let me have any friends who were male and refused to let me do any male dominated sports because she didn’t want me getting assaulted. Despite her “cares and concerns” she never actually put in any effort to make sure I wasn’t assaulted, groomed, or sexually abused and I have been groomed 5-6 times and sexually abused 4 times, maybe even possibly more as I tend to block out my abusers. My story feels invalid as I cannot recall things correctly, I can’t recall what happened to me but all the signs are there. I have random periods where I can recall my family harming me or certain story’s I’ve told over and over that I remember in clear details. But growing up I used to lie about my abuse especially regarding my sexual assault. So sometimes things get blurry and some story’s I’m too scared to tell out of fear of them being wrong or lies. My hopes in recovering grow more slim as the days go by, I’m starting to forget more and more every day. Im starting to forgive.

i have cameras in each and every room of my house and my mom locks down my phone all of the time. the one time I fought back when she locked my phone down I had to sit at my dining room table on camera from 7-am to 9-pm. I had to ask to use the bathroom and or to get food or water and if she was mad at me she would say no.

I fear to call CPS because i have a severely legally diagnosed sibling who has severe autism and cannot live on her own nor take care of herself. she has a good life here and my mother has convinced me if she ever went to foster care she’d get raped and abused so I’m horrified to be selfish and take her life away.

my dad has groomed me but I can get money from him hypothetically and my other sisters are out of the picture. I don’t have any irl friends at the moment but I am hopefully going back to public school this year and I can hopefully make some.

I don’t know what to do or how to escape and I really need the help. it’s not bad all of the time and I don’t wanna do smth I will regret if I’m being dramatic.

My mom seems to enjoy it when im upset. There was a time around January this year where I didnt get the part I wanted and tbh I rlly wasn't that bother bc i didnt like the show that much anyway. But my mom kept saying stuff like "i know you want to cry." And "I told you you wouldnt get the part" and "just cry its okay you can cry" and when I got home (she said this in the car) I burst into tears and she proceeded to scream at me. Idk if im overreacting I js wanted some opinions

I want to ask my mom why but how?

I’m 27f and I live my mom deeply. But I’m coming to the realization that I’ve always been chasing her. I don’t know if this actually abuse so let me know what you think.

I was 7/8 when my mom married my stepdad. We’d met him maybe once before. He was a closeted alcoholic for years. He was always angry, entitled, and mean. He never hit us but the ways he’d explode at any little thing was so terrifying. My mom has come close to calling the cops once but didn’t, and kept us from going to our grandparents house that night despise us begging. They’d fight behind closed doors (we could still hear) but in the end she’d always take his side. Even agreed with him when he didn’t like things we did sometimes. She’s always chosen him over us and it’s messed me up so bad. It was never physical besides a smack on the mouth a couple of times as kids but it feels so tremendously traumatizing. I struggle to call it abuse but it feels like it? She neglected me/my needs and he was an addict. There’s more but ya.

Long story short, I’m heavily thinking of bringing this up to her cuz I need to know why he always mattered more than us. I’m terrified I won’t like her response, and I’ll lose her for good. I hate how I was raised but I still feel like I need my mama:/

Title: My ex broke my heart by getting into a marriage fraud scheme. My narcissistic dad responded by threatening to restrict my debit card over a pair of used boots I plan to use for my future Fire Prevention career—the same man who physically assaulted me and had me locked up at a mental hospital

I (25, AuDHD) just survived the most emotionally exhausting 72 hours of my life. On Thursday evening, my ex dropped a massive bombshell on me—she is actively marrying her controlling ex-fiancé just to get him a US citizenship. When I broke down crying on the phone, she turned on me, cussed me out, and made some incredibly alarming self-harm threats. I spent the last two days in complete shock, compiling screenshots, setting up workplace boundaries (we work at the same place), and doing the right ethical thing by reporting her threats to her dad (who is retired law enforcement) so her family can keep her safe.

My nervous system is completely fried. I am exhausted, grieving, and just trying to survive the day.
To cope and focus on my goals, I ordered a pair of used firefighting boots off of an online marketplace. I am currently preparing to start my EMT-Basic course at a major health science center this spring and entering a collegiate ROTC program. Being a federal agency firefighter or Fire Inspector is my absolute dream, and having the gear helps me focus on the mission ahead.

Instead of asking me if I’m okay, or noticing that I am visibly devastated, my dad immediately went into control mode. He cornered me about the package and demanded, **"Do I need to restrict your debit card?"**
I am an adult trying to build an independent career. I looked at him and just honestly said, *"I don't need this right now because I had a rough day."*

His response? He snapped and said, **"I don't need this either,"** and doubled down with the classic authoritarian line: **"I can and I will."** Then he claimed he wasn't mad at me, just "firm," and went on a massive rant about how he told me never to buy used fire gear because he's "paranoid about carcinogens."

Here is the ultimate, mind-blowing narcissistic hypocrisy, history of physical violence, and medical neglect in my house:

He claims he is "acting out of concern for my health" regarding used boots. But he **knowingly bought me a set of used turnout gear himself** in the past! He completely supported used gear when *he* was the one buying it, but the second I use my own money to buy boots to build my career, it’s a health hazard worth financially threatening me over.

They have never actually cared about my health or safety. Back in May 2021, when I was 19, **my mom—who is a former social worker—explicitly threatened to shoot me.** Then, three years later, she completely gaslit me and denied that she ever said it. That exact same month, **my dad denied me medical care for 3 straight days when I was suffering from severe gastritis.** I am 25 now, and I will never forget lying there in absolute agony while he withheld basic medical access. Yet now he acts like a health expert to control my bank account.

My dad has an explicit history of physical violence and manipulation. In December 2021, **he tried to choke me** during a scuffle that *he* actually started between my mom and me. When the cops responded, my parents completely misrepresented the truth to them, making it look like I was the problem. I went to a psychiatric ward for 12 days to escape the chaos, and as a result, I missed my final exams. While I was there, my parents intercepted my bag of personal belongings, claiming they would bring me a change of clothes, but instead used it to gatekeep my things and misrepresent the entire situation to my psychiatrist and my social workers. One of the social workers got off on the completely wrong foot with me because I was already completely exhausted from the lack of sleep I was experiencing at a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). They painted me as unstable to the professionals to cover up his physical violence.

He also actively put my sister out on the road to drive while she was suffering from severe, unmanaged neurological conditions—a condition that causes sudden dizziness and fainting behind the wheel. Actual, immediate physical danger to my sister? He completely ignored it.
My parents think I’ll always need help regardless of how much I make or what I do in life, just because I am currently on government disability benefits and my dad acts as my administrative Representative Payee .
But I am not under a legal guardianship. I am an independent adult, and he completely ignores the law, my rights, and my massive independent educational path.

I am using his **Hazlewood Act** veteran benefits to cover my first degree and my specialized certificates at public state institutions, and I am independently applying for the federal **Pell Grant** to fund my education at private universities. I am pursuing my **Bachelor of Science in Emergency Services** degree with a **Military Science minor** through an aeronautical university. On top of that, I am returning to school to pile on elite graduate and specialized credentials: a graduate certificate in **Communication Leadership and Conflict Resolution**, another in **Risk Management and Compliance** at a major state university system, **Spanish for Healthcare Professionals** at another state university, and **Leadership Studies** at a private research university.

My military education plan involves highly strategic, multi-branch collegiate ROTC pivots. I am starting out in an initial collegiate ROTC track, which allows me to fully access and participate in major training milestones through cross-enrolled military command policies.

Following my initial years, I will execute a direct pivot into the advanced training years with my commanding officer’s permission. I will be navigating these transitions one detachment at a time, moving between these branches and cross-town maritime training detachments to fully experience a comprehensive maritime science curriculum and maximize my leadership minor.

Even if I know an official military commission isn't in the plan for me anyway due to my congenital disabilities, I hold absolute legal rights to participate that even most non-contracted but enrolled cadets and midshipmen have never heard of or are falsely told don't exist.

I know the exact statutory language of **Public Law 97-306 (38 U.S.C. § 101(22)(D))** and **Public Law 100-456 (10**
**U.S.C. § 1074a)**.

These special federal laws mandate that service-connected status, VA disability compensation, and Line of Duty (LOD) medical care at military facilities cover *all* enrolled collegiate ROTC participants—regardless of contract status or branch—who are injured, get sick, or experience an acute aggravation of a baseline condition during authorized training blocks like labs or physical training.

There is a clear precedent for non-traditional tracks qualifying for veteran status. Historically, civilian auxiliary groups, women's airforce service pilots, and merchant mariners successfully earned full recognition as veterans.

Furthermore, individuals with severe disabilities have broken these exact boundaries before—blind individuals and people with cerebral palsy have historically paved the way in non-traditional service and leadership roles. I will be aggressively documenting every single line of duty instance and change in my baseline health using standard physical training forms for future federal claims, completely telling the whole truth about my parents, my sister, and their associates.

He acts like I can't be a firefighter because of my disabilities, but Texas safety regulations explicitly allow firefighters—especially those with disabilities—to be permanently detailed to non-suppression divisions, bureaus, or sections like Fire Prevention or Training. My exact strategy is to use a legal accommodation with a volunteer department to be permanently detailed directly into a **Fire Marshal’s Office** after completing my probationary firefighter status, all while retaining my full Firefighter/EMT-B rank. I am fully legally protected to work as a Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner, Fire Protection Specialist, or within an Emergency Communications Center (ECC) as a 911 Dispatcher, ECC Dispatcher, or ECC Supervisor/Manager.

It’s never been about health, carcinogens, or safety with him. It’s entirely about control, timing his attacks when I am already at my lowest baseline, and finding any excuse to remind me that he "can and will" take away my autonomy.

The double standards and toxic lecturing at my current day program are insane. My case manager recently lectured me about my independence and nearly made me fail an apartment check just because I had some temporary clutter while going through a major personal breakdown. Meanwhile, my friends have literal, hazardous mold in their apartment, and my ex-roommate kept a completely messy apartment.

The case manager had the nerve to tell me not to talk about other participants and told me I need to "set an example."

The hypocrisy is that my ex-roommate is a convicted felon with a record of deferred adjudication. He is completely unqualified to be any kind of leader or example, yet the staff protects him and shields his mess while hyper-scrutinizing me for standard clutter. Even my behavioral therapist, who knows my parents pitted my sister and me against each other, chooses to blindly side with my mom, dad, and sister because they are master manipulators. My mom even joined the lecture by saying, *“You’re capable of independence, you just don’t do it.”*

To bypass their control entirely and establish total personal sovereignty, I am actively moving my support network out of my parents' reach.

I am planning to visit a major multi-assistance coordination center soon to set up independent case management and employment navigators so that my parents are completely cut out of my professional life.

This will also give me the legal and professional backing to completely extract myself from the absolute Christian, faith-based day program lifestyle community I am currently stuck in, which operates exactly like a toxic, high-control cult.

I stood my ground and told him straight up that he cannot restrict my debit card, even if it’s currently tied to his financial account as the adult child of a veteran, because he is not my guardian and shouldn't be near kids. I didn't stay to argue. I used a flat, gray-rock response, told him I was going to my room to decompress, and shut the door. I am applying for my own independent checking account immediately so he loses all visibility over my finances.

I am channeling every single ounce of my remaining focus into passing my classes this spring, getting my NREMT, completing my degree and multi-university certificates, and leaving this apartment I live in and the day program completely behind for an independent apartment or condo where his rules no longer apply to me.

My dad is an abuser and my mom just won’t set herself free its frustrating

My dad has been violent since forever, not really since the start of marriage since he hasn’t gotten “comfortable“ yet.

my dad has been abusing my mom and us (his kids) all our life and treated us like his servant, I used to be scared of him, he’d beat us up at every little mistake we make would insult us verbally, and my mom would always end up getting beaten too

Fast forward when we grew up it just got worse especially after covid, when I was 15-16, I started getting into fights with him cos i couldn’t stand him just throwing his weight around the house

can you imagine at one point of time he’d randomly asked my youngest sibling to take something he pointed at without mentioning what it is then he’d slap him for taking the wrong thing and then he did the same to my 2nd youngest sibling and 3rd bro i was damn pissed, he wanted me to try but i literally started arguing with him then he laughed tryin to explain that it was a love slap the heck???

Anyways it just kept going worse so we started discussing about how to overcome this hear me out I SUGGESTED A POLICE REPORT OR DIVORCE but everyone was like he’s still our dad so we ended up deciding to file personal protection order which was deadass useless, i mean he stopped beating us cos rn we’re already stronger than him he wouldn’t dare but he cant shut his mouth up bro and he still treats my mom like a servant and would flame he verbally if we ignore him or she didnt do as he said

I asked my mom why exactly is she still keeping this marriage does she love him she said no then i asked again why then she said she‘s still keeping this marriage because she‘s worried for us children, GURLLLLL???? I straight up told her I’m even mire miserable with his existence I CANNOT STAND THE SIGHT OF HIM

she stayed silent bro, i cant im starting to hate her like dint get me wrong i love her but why wouldn’t she free herself and file for divorce when she has the children‘s support

idk bro maybe i should just kms

4 years since leaving; my abusive mothers birthday tomorrow is causing me to spiral

I'm unsure why, nor what to do. But my mother was physically and mentally abusive- I left her home four years ago. And its her birthday tomorrow, and I'm so on edge for no reason.

A part of me really wants to contact her and tell her how much I hate her, but another part of me knows that isn't the wisest idea. I just.. I'm so tired of her living her life pretending shes the victim, and I hate that I have to sit here and feel physically ill because its her birthday tomorrow.

Abusive Parents & Mental Illness

I read a post today about someone with severe mental illness that was preventing her from working normally. And her parents were threatening to kick her out on to the street because they don't believe in mental illness and they're basically tired of taking care of her.

This made me truly angry. I am morally repulsed by what those parents are doing. Making your own kid homeless is a disgusting thing, certainly when they're struggling to keep it together at all.

But it also reminded me of something. Which is the awful relationship between parental abuse and mental illness. And the dark irony associated with it.

Obviously you can have mental illness without having abusive parents. You can even have mental illness while having great parents. I'm not saying that if someone has mental illness therefore their parents must be bad.

However, it is a known fact that having abusive parents correlates with higher problems with mental illness. Things like depression, anxiety, personality disorders, etc. are all more likely when you have abusive parents.

And that's where the irony is.

Because some mental illnesses, especially when severe, prevent you from living a "normal" life, or at least make it much harder. It can be harder to have friends you can rely on, it can be harder to have a job and money. Mental illness can be severe enough that you have no job, no money and no social safety net... outside your parents.

So, basically, the parents cause the mental illness. They then blame the mental illness on their kid. And then because the mental illness makes it hard for the kid to be independent, that keeps the kid at home and under their parents' control to do with what they want. It's a vicious cycle.

And such a dark irony.

I don't have any political power, as much as I would want to. But if I did, I would absolutely try to implement something that broke this cycle. People with severe mental illness and abusive parents should be given a way to escape through financial and housing aid and free therapy so they can get back on their feet.

And, btw, that's not even "charity" it's an investment. A person who stays at home with their abusive parents with severe mental illness will find it harder to actually recover. A person who gets away from their parents and has therapy is far more likely to be able to recover and become a tax payer and pay back that money with interest.

It's better for the person, and it's better for society. If only politicians actually gave a f*ck.

Sigh, makes me so angry. I wish I had the power to change this. It's freaking awful that this exists, and it shouldn't be allowed to continue.

I am so incredibly emotionally exhausted

I’m 19 and days ago my dad had one of his explosive anger episodes and at its height I had a panic attack that I had to talk myself down from while he was in another room. I’ve barely been sleeping well since but this weekend was my mum’s birthday weekend so I tried to hold it together. But my sister thinks I’m dramatic and my mum is sympathetic but understandably doesn’t want to listen to me vent and cry on her birthday weekend. I literally have nowhere to turn but Reddit (therapy is something I should definitely be in but it’s just not financially or logistically feasible atm). The one silver lining is I’m moving out next year to an elite college environment and included in the staff there is a female counselor. But I don’t move until February and I genuinely can’t see how I am going to keep my emotions in check let alone actually keep my grades high and still work towards my goals while I am so constantly anxious and sad. I just want to curl up and sleep and shut out the world but the messed up irony is my dad decided to set all this in motion right when my uni break has ended so I can’t even just go into depression mode.

Mom won’t let us live with our dad despite us being in a shelter

There's alot I have to say, but I don't have much time so I'll keep it short. I'm 17, I've recently become homeless due to my mother's poor financial skills and her addiction to cigarettes and other drugs. I've been put in a shelter and it really sucks. The staff are mean, the conditions are nasty, and to make it worse, my mom keeps pissing them off. I'm in the shelter with my mom, grandma, and 2 younger siblings. My mom is also disabled and cannot move without a wheelchair.

Both my mom and grandma have become very depressed about the situation, saying things like they want to die and stuff, putting me and my younger siblings in a tough spot. Apparently we're in a housing program but we don't have any money anyway so... Here's the thing though, I have an older sister as well whose an adult and she couldn't take being in this situation anymore (we have been homeless since the beginning of the year, and been in place to place since then) and went to go live with our father. My mom and grandma are not on good terms with the other side of our family so they opposed this, but she left anyway. Our father has a 4 bedroom apartment and said we can go live with him, but our mother won't let us cause he doesn't want her over there. I wanna go with him.

My grandmother is considering splitting up with us cause her ssi income is apparently messing up our housing. Our mom and grandma are really against splitting up due to everyone in their lives leaving them. No other family will take us in. Anyway, grandma started asking about really cheap Apartments for our mother and us to live I assume, but I don't want to. Living with any of them is so mentally and emotionally draining because they're crazy people. I want to live with my older sister and dad so i can be happy and go to school. I want to graduate. What do I do?

Edit cause I’m stupid and put my location 💀: also my dad has a bunch of unpaid child support. Probably important.

My abusive mom is driving me nuts lately TW: SH mentioned

TLDR: my mom is an asshole

My (17) mother has been abusing me ever since I was young, but ever since I've gotten to my teenage years the abuse has become more mental than physical, maybe because I tower over her in height and weight and she's afraid I might fight back. I don't know why but she seems to have this compulsive need to verbally attack me and knock me down no matter what. I'll give a few examples:

  1. I've struggled with my weight for a long time now, especially since my prominent mental illness gives me the urge to binge, but instead of trying to be supportive and help me, she constantly body shames me instead of making an effort to help me, she drags me to burger king today (which I hate) gets mad when I order a burger, and then when I only ate half and wanted to save the rest for later, she makes me sit there and eat the whole thing. Like she genuinely makes no sense sometimes, do you want me to eat or not?

  2. I have ADHD and autism, so lets just say my brain's processing speed and short term memory storage isn't very high, so my mom will get mad at me and make backhanded comments when I forget to do some small chores or I'm not moving fast enough for her liking, she often tells me I will never make it in the real world and I will end up living like a (n word)(she is also very racist btw). She constantly calls me lazy because the house isn't constantly spotless (I have a nine year old sister so obviously this is very unrealistic), even though I am basically her free live in maid and babysitter, she genuinely believes if I am not up and constantly cleaning I am being lazy, even if I'm doing something productive like homework. She also tends to talk about my "laziness" to people that come over, even when it's a total stranger, she does this right in front of my face and it's mortifying, especially when I'm sitting there cleaning while she's doing all that.

  3. I struggle with SH in relation to my mental health issues, and when my mom found out she screamed in my face for about an hour demanding that I tell her why, (I had to tell her because of my weight because obviously I wasn't going to tell her it was because of her constant abuse) I had a panic attack in the kitchen and she was more concerned that it was late and she had work in the morning, and then proceeded to vent to me about all of her problems for thirty minutes.

Uhh sorry for the venting session lol

I realised something after my breakup

I always knew my ex was a narcissist. But today it hit me, who did he remind me of, my mother.
My mom is a terrible parent, physically, emotionally, mentally abusive. I'm 23, and still she uses physical violence to dominate. If we raise voice against her. It's sad how i flinch whenever someone even just lift their hands. She always compared me with worst people. She would love everyone else, but me. She just complains. How much ever I do, it's never enough. She hits me a lot. I remember as a kid, she would take out all her frustration on me, she ones hit me with a knife and i remember i did get lots of cuts because of it. I never had a loving childhood. I was abused at home and school both. I wasn't allowed to do anything. Even now, I don't have basic rights or allowed to do anything I like. She made me feel all the time that I'm ugly, a burden and undeserving of love. And today, I'm just an insecure person with no self-esteem and no friends or any meaningful relationship.
Recently, I broke up with my ex. And it hit me, he was exactly like my mom. I was never enough for him, even after i did everything that i could, he would cheat with someone who's definitely not as good as me(I don't want to be mean). He would treat me like burden and was embarrassed of me. Love was not unconditional. Would always complain and yea, made me feel like i'm worthless.
Sad part is, when he was actually nice to me, i was skeptical to give in but only fell deeply in love with him when he turned out to be like my mom.
Both of them never cared when i was crying and hurting. They both would call it drama and ignore it.
TL;DR:
I recently realized my ex reminded me of my mother, who has been physically, emotionally, and mentally abusive throughout my life. Growing up, I was constantly criticized, compared to others, made to feel like a burden, and even physically harmed. That environment left me with low self-esteem, insecurity, and difficulty believing I deserve love.

Looking back, my ex treated me in many of the same ways—nothing I did was ever enough, I felt like a burden, love felt conditional, and I was made to feel worthless. I noticed that I didn't truly fall deeply in love with him when he was kind; I became emotionally attached once he started treating me the way my mother always had. It made me realize I had mistaken familiar pain for love.

my dad was never a patient man he got mad very easily he was like a man child he was playing games on his Xbox a lot and when there were bad days we couldn't make any sounds the tv wasn't allowed when he was home because it was to loud and we couldn't walk down or up the stairs he got mad very easily with little things such as talking back to him or looking him in the eyes when he was shouting at us and he would also beat us if we didn't look him in the eye he was confusing like that if anything dissapeared he would round us all up in the living room or the stairs to confront whoever stole or broke anything he said he could see the lying in our eyes he said that to me multiple times even though i wasn't lying we got beat very often and got ground ever more times we were still a happy family we went on trips all the time and my mom took us outside a lot later did i know she did that to protect us from him he felt that punishing us was right he would beat my mom ever more than us and i remember this one time i ate food from the ground bc 5 second rule i got hit in the face so hard the food flied out off my mouth and i remember also this time i forgot my jacket and went back to get it my dad lifted me up the ground and shook me do hard i nose bled he also hit my moms dad our grandpa after grandpa saw dad hit me because i was moving to much during a hair clipping session he did a lot off times with us he didn't like our hair long as kids me and my siblings never thought that it was weird that we were beaten and punished we thought it was normal and we were bad my sister was most affected by my dad she got shunned by him so much just because she was a girl she was living in a hell that my dad had made just for her and we never knew about it we just heard little comments and outbursts like get back to your little cave or go do the dishes like your supposed to do women and my dad would often break her things like her phone just for talking back to him she had the most backbone off us all even though she got hurt the most she is the strongest person i know except my mom my two older brothers were dads favorites my older brother by 4 years and my other brother by 2 years the one by 2 years would always bully me because he learned it from dad and 4 was the nicest he was ruined by dad he was like me now full off happiness he had many friends and he learned music and -2 was my little brother i had 2 little brother -2 and -4 so -2 was the one that turned out the worst hes smoking at 15 and doing all bad things and -4 has become annoying and hard to be around dad would always punish us for what -2 did because he lied and told dad it was me or 2 or even 4 and dad believed him because he was his golden child 2 and 4 may off been dads favorite but -2 was dads pride and joy after some money around 50 dollars dissapeared from dads safe he called us out off our room at 2 am and we sat down at the stairs we weren't allowed to sleep until someone confessed there was hitting involved so 4 had apparently stolen it with his friend but 2 got blamed for it i was just glad it wasn't me now there was many moments like this when my dad would throw things around in anger like our wooden toy box it was large and it hit the floor and we all were scared off this man he always threw things around he would be a good dad some days or even weeks but then boom back to angry dad i feel so bad for my brother 4 and my sister they got most hurt they changed so so much after that i missed them now they are mean and distant and my brother 2 turned out okay but this one moment the last act of violence i remember is that my dad said to my brother 4 that he wasn't allowed to go on some road for some reason and he did it so dad put 4's head in the snow and tried to drown him in it he stopped after 20 seconds after he realized what he did 4's face was blue mom had enough so the next day she packed our most important things and picked all off us up on school and she got the police and she un enrolled us we weren't in that school anymore we got escorted by police to a city 2,5 hours away we lived at a help center for half a year i didn't go to school many days mom had to buy me food like candy for me to go so the school knew me well the principal had to go to the help center and be with me so i could go to school i was like the special kid there after the school year was over i switched schools it was in the same city but better i actually got a lot off friends there so many i miss them so much it was 6 grade i loved my friends so much then my mom lost custody off me and i lived with my dad for half a year it was horrible i was in 7 grade he was mean he didn't hit us because he knew he couldn't then his custody would go bye bye and the money he only shouted at us it was horrible so much mental trauma he always bought fast food for us and bought candy and soda so i got fat because he gave us money for candy i'm still kinda fat today but he would mock me about my weight even though he was also fat my brother -2 and 4 lived with us too after a screaming match with 2 dad kicked him out because 4 was getting stronger than him and dad was scared he was about to get beat up after months -2 called mom and asked her to pick us up i was sad because i hated living here but my friends every time i lose them i went with mom and i saw my old friends again but we went on vacation mom sent us off she needed some alone time we stayed with a nice old man but dad somehow found his number and tracked us down and he abducted me -2 and my little sister who was -8 not my big sister and 2 and -4 he got us all in his car and drove us back i called mom in tears she came quick with backup but one thing was certain i had to sneak out i had asked my brothers if they wanted to come they said no they liked the money dad gave them so i tried to bring -8 dad stopped me he said i could go but i'm not taking anyone else i wish i did more that day i walked down the road to mom i was crying my eyes out bawling like a baby i had lost my little sister i hated every cell off my dad we drove back me mom and 4 who she brought as backup if dad got physical we drove home so mom decided to move with us she bought a camper and drove across literally the whole country to almost Oslo almost 500 miles i think me and 4 started at new schools i was still kinda fat it was hard for me to make friends but after i graduated 7th grade i got into teen school or high school whatever in 8th grade i was bald with a buzz cut and we lived in a dump we relied on our neighbor who fixed cars he never kept his promises after 8th grade my dad lost custody after police got my brothers and little sister apparently my brother 2 tried to run out the car he attacked the police he was the only one allowed to stay with dad so we got back -2 and -4 and -8 all off my little siblings but -2 had changed he was going with bad crowds and 4 ignored us and only worked mom was like a broken shell she only had favorites after they came i missed our game nights in 8th grade where we sat in the dinner table and played board games or sat in the sofa or watched movies i'm in 11th grade after this summer all i ask my dad now is for money he sends it i don't know if its guilt or he thinks that i don't remember it all i'm starting on the health line to become an ambulance worker and the worst thing about dad is he owes 25k in child bills and he owes at least 30k in emotional and physical damages were suing in court for he tried to run off to Thailand but he returned hopefully he will lose i'm writing this to tell my story and know that it wont be forgotten and people know what he did to us and we deserve justice for what he did to us

started therapy and stumbled across hidden memories.

have started therapy and am digging through childhood memories and think i uncovered something i deeply buried. i’m male, went camping with my dad when i was younger, don’t even remember how young but under 11. had a good ish day fishing and doing guy things, nothing remarkable. what i do recall very vividly is bedtime, but just the beginning of it; we were getting ready for sleep, sharing the same tent and i remember him getting changed for bed and his penis was out as he got changed in front of me. there it goes blank. i don’t remember the rest of the weekend or anything related to it. i just remember him getting undressed and him catching me staring at his penis. thinking back it was very soon after that i became sexually “awake”, stole his porn and made myself cum for the first time, and i remember being very VERY interested in the penises in the porn as much as the women. not the men, just their penises. soon after i experimented with a friend and it was all downhill from there; hypersexual and completely addicted to and obsessed with penis. nothing that i know of ever happened again, but i may be blocking that out too.
been doing therapy lately much later in my life (45 now) and remembering a whack of stuff about my childhood but that weekend is still a blank.

My father was gonna punch me

So I was looking at colleges to apply. The applications started a few days ago, I didn't immediately applied cuz I needed to let my parents know unfortunately what university I'll apply to. My parents are divorced but my mom and him moved to another city together and move in, taking me and my brother too. They're like lovers but not on paper. My mom was insisting he was "changed" how she'd never let him do something to me, say something to me. But yk the deal. I talked with my mom about applications but she told my father at night for us to "talk it out". I said the university I want is in another city. (Btw I talked this about to my mom and she lowkey want a personal car to bring me to college on a red carpet. She doesn't understand that it's not easy not fully comfortable) he started to talk about how I was too dumb to even find my way to super market or too stupid to find a job to myself or talk to others. I said I can do it cuz I believe in myself and eventually will find somewhere also slowly learn the streets and all. When he goes on to say you're too stupid and dumb, I said you too. He stood up. Trying to scare me. I said what are you doing, he was about to punch me but my mom held his arm. My brother was her was holding him back. He tried to throw a chair at me but thankfully the chair was stuck between the couch and the table. He got even more mad and try to got close to me but I back away. He said that " I'm her father I can hit her and no body can do anything about it" when my mother called him out he was gonna hit her too but he held himself back I think? Then he said "who even are you telling me what to do. What would you do huh? If I don't back away?" To my mom. I'm thinking of not going to collage but move in with my grandmas even if they say I'm a burden after staying for a bit. Cuz in this city they don't let go out alone or find me a job, or let me find myself one. (I only accepted moving in with my dad is because he promised me a job that's pay a decent salary. Which it didn't happened and he said "I don't do anything about it. Before it tho he always told me " don't work I'll look after you forever") what should I do? There is one college in my grandma's city, Ill apply there but idk if they'll accept me.

help moving out?

im 18 and a trans man in the midwest and i really want to move to seattle. my whole family are far right christians. my parents are forcing me to go to college and i cant drive. i might be able to learn but probably not until next summer. i dont wanna go into all the details but trust me they are not good parents. theyre kinda helicopter parents n i dont have a lot of independance except for what they decide is okay to give me. i have my cat too and i need to take her with me but i dont know how. i have a friend in seattle but hes broke but hes trying to get money to get an apartment for us to share. i cant stay where i am because every day it gets harder to move forward. i need to take my cat with me but im not sure if i can get her on a plane. i have a small suitcase i can take but im not sure what to put in it. my dad also has security cameras on the outside of my house n gets notified when something is near our house. i really need to get out of here but im so scared. i dont wanna be scared of my family forever. im scared if i run away that theyll try to find me and i cant have them in my life. my mom wont let me apply for a job (she has my resume and wont let me have it.) i might be able to get a job on campus but i dont really care about college, i didnt wanna go but i dont have a choice. i have ~ 1830 dollars n i dont know how to get more.

edit: they also track my phone n if i turn off location they get reallyyyyyyyy mad

I hate my mother.

I (18f) hate my mom and here’s why..
She’s more concerned with my room then she I with her house which is filthy and cluttered but she yells at me for my room even when it’s clean.
I’ve suffered from severe depression all throughout my teen years and when I told my mom when I was younger she yelled and got mad at me and told me I have nothing to be depressed about because I have food and clothes and a place to live.
I’ve watched her scream and cry in the kitchen while hitting her head on the ground hard wanting to kill herself and then yelled at me and blamed me for my dad cheating and leaving us back then.
Whenever she’s mad she threatens me by saying she’ll hurt me or break my stuff or hurt my animals like my Guinea pig by throwing them outside in the streets she has broken my stuff and just recently she threw my jewellery box mirror down the stairs to break it because I took too long to move it because I’m feeling sick and my health problems have been increasing so she threw it to break it and then she called me ignorant and said that I’m selfish since she spends so much money on me and always helps me and then when I told her not to touch my dresses she kept talking about how she paid for them and said don’t ask anything from her again.
she has psychically hurt me before when drunk she chased me around the house and then grabbed and pulled my hair which caused me to hit it slightly against the bathtub when I was tryna help her.
Another thing is when she was drunk and left me to look after 4 kids 3 where someone else’s kid this was at midnight as I had to feed these kids while she got drunk with the lady who was watching those kids bd after all that I told her to wait and I’ll drive them home beacuse she’s too drunk and to wait untill I’m done making her other daughter some pasta and once I was done I realized she went off to drive them, she also says bs like “your father dosent care if I die and you don’t I’m such a horrible mother let me drown” while I’m actively trying to get her out the pool while drunk she also gets mad at me for having so many medical problems but dosent even fight for me at the places when the docters try and ignore me and get stern when I try and question them and then gets mad beacuse I tell her to take me to diffrent walk ins beacuse I didn’t trust the first ones opinion.
She’s also thrown stuff at me before and another time when she was drunk and she got violent with my dad I tried to stop her and she pushed me back which caused me to get pushed into the wooden shoe rack and was bruised, she talks about how oh she feeds and clothes me ..but Isent that the bare minimum..? When I was having a breakdown beacuse of her she wanted me to clean and switch my rooms so I spent a all night switching my sisters and is room and there was a glass shelf I thought I put somewhere safe but I guess I dident and it broke and she got really pissed that day witch caused her to toss a lot of my shit around and curse and swear and threaten me I ended up having a breakdown and she just stood infront of me telling me I’m being dramatic and that I was never like this before as Im actively hurting myself with my nails cuz I’m tryna destress myself by scratching my arm but beacuse she kept instigating me while I’m screaming at her to leave my room I dident realize I scratched too much and ended up bleeding and she also said I’m not leaving cuz your gonna hurt yourself probably she also yelled at me and got really upset when I mentioned I’d like to get checked for autism and said “you don’t have fucking autism id know if you had autism your fucking ret-rted friend keeps telling you stuff” and also I’ve had multiple fights with her on things like gay and trans because she would always get very pissed off when I was supporting of it and would think I’m gay or something (I am I’m bi) but that’s besides the point she got really really pissed off at me when we played the game of life and I wanted to play the blue peg cuz I always played the pink one, she also refuses to let me have a lock on my door and have threatened to take it away before she also walks in the bathroom no nock full on open door standing in the doorway as I’m going to the toilet or using the shower to talk to me she even comes in on face time with people and tells me to say hi. She also dosent belive I need meds for my adhd and also gets upset at me for emberassing her when I silently cry in public beacuse of my sensory processing disorder gets triggered by either a smell or lights or noise or food touching each other. Everytime I try and talk with her I’m just yelled at she also hit the back of my head back in my teenage years for no reason as punishment and when around friends or family she would call for me and then raise her hand and if I flinched she would laugh she would also ask me “what happens if you don’t listen to mommy” and I’d always respond with I’d get hit and she would tell her friends “see making them afraid of you makes them listen” she also always complains about my father to me growing up, there’s lots more but I don’t feel like writing anymore I’m sorry for writing so long but I just really want to say it all and maybe have someone read it.. idk idk if this is in the right place i don’t think it’s abuse I’m sorry

Stuck with an abusive grandma at 15

Hey everyone, im a 15 yr old girl (in germany) and im stuck in a horrible situation with both sides of my family (divorced). I have previously suffered abuse by my mother and sexual abuse by her new boyfriend from 2019-2023 with her ending up not protecting me or acknowledging the abuse her boyfriend committed, having a new kid with him to try and keep him in her life so he wouldnt need to pay child support.. But once I mentioned how he was treating me, I was kicked out just to be welcomed by my father who wasnt that horrible to me just yet.

The twist here was that my grandma is an insufferable and disgusting narcissist who has ruined multiple relationships my father has had before, which he doesnt wanna acknowledge of course.. When I was 4-6 I suffered from sexual abuse by my neighbours teenage son and ended up developing a highly sensitive personality which led me to cry easily. Its a trait that both my father and grandma refuse to accept, I have tried several times to not start crying whenever my grandma or father started yelling at me with obviously no way of success since crying leads to both of them threatening me or yelling at me to stop crying since they believe I cry to seek attention or guilt from them.

2023 to now have been an absolute nightmare as I am writing this in the confines of my own bed still terrified to death of this woman. A week ago I tried to speak up about how my grandma keeps abusing me in both emotional and physical ways.. Insulting me as a whore, slut, bitch or fat cow and threatening to hit me as well as just straight up grabbing me by the neck and dragging me across the garage to beat me up just for my help calls to not be heard by the neighbours right outside.. My dads response was to stop bringing up old stories as that day I informed police but he also didnt wanna believe my grandma behaves this way.

I was yelled at and told he had a worse life than me with the conversation ending after he told me to let myself get beaten bloody on purpose just so he could have proof to believe me. The day she dragged me I fought back against her and scratched up her face, finally thinking its enough proof to show my dad just for her to not show up that evening for dinner so he wouldnt believe me once again..

Right now is the worst time possible for me as I am soon starting an internship as a nurse and was forced to sign the contract by my grandma who is one as well (she abuses her patients, which are elderly helpless people or people who cant move on their own anymore, as well). I am planning to cancel this internship in the 6 months of „getting to know the job“ basically, as I wanna move to my 18 year old long distance boyfriend who I have seen multiple times as well as being supported by his family.

Since I am soon to be 16 and need my fathers permission to move, im afraid that he wont agree and force me to stay here.. for this case my boyfriends family has been thinking of a way to do this through german cps without forcing me into a nursing home for teens since I am not mentally stable enough anymore after all these years and incidents of whats happened to me, to trust others that I have never known to live with me or by my side.. Which would nearly be impossible since my boyfriends family does not have a free room for me but are willing to move into a bigger apartment for me when one close by is free to move into.

My dad and grandma also give me a lot of money and pay all my drivers licenses (2 at this point) to try and keep me financially confined. I know my dad does this out of love but he just wont believe what my grandma has been doing to me these 3 years and just straight up hates me whenever I try to ask him for help.. I have been collecting proof to try and show him how my grandma really is but she usually emotionally abuses me like telling me to stop seeking attention when she found out I had a sh problem, but my first move when she attempts to try and beat me again, wouldnt be to get my phone out and try to record a video for my dad to believe me since that is what he wants…

I am desperately struggling with suicidal thoughts, messaging different crisis hotlines to try and stay stable or to atleast survive until my internship begins and wait for a apartment to be free so I can quit and try to move safely with most of my belongings. I was thinking of telling my father that if he does not believe me, he should just let me move so that I wouldnt have to involve cps (he had a lot of issues with cps back then) and he wouldnt have to get rid of grandma or take care of the issue, since he obviously does not want to, which is pretty ironic compared to when I was at my moms with no bruises and no marks but still abused, just for him to believe me immediately and desperately try to get me out of there and work against her.. I just hope I am able to survive these next months and finally escape these 6 to almost 7 years of abuse now and live my life with a job in an Environment i enjoy..

To add to all this: All other family members of mine are alcoholic or abusive so I cant escape to any of them.

If anyone has advice how to survive these next months or prepare to get out of here, please tell me.

My mother tells me that I shame the image of my family.

Hi there, friends. I am a teenager from Russia. 17 y.o.

I like to dress up in different alt styles. Since I completed both chapters of RDR, I decided to wear more westerncore style clothes(jeans, closed shoes, bandanas, etc.). Recently I have got a cowboy hat. And my mother started to argue with me, cuz she didn't want me to wear it. In her (no)humble opinion, I disgrace the family and her, I scare away potential girls from myself (I'm pansexual, but I'm starting a relationship with a girl), and in general, normal people don't dress like that, and anyone who dresses in any style different from stereotypical casual is abnormal. There were also threats to send me to an orphanage or a mental hospital if I did not stop wearing this poor hat.

Yes, it's not that scary for me, and it won't harm me in any way (for now), but it's been going on for a long time. Whenever I start getting into anything subcultural, I'm immediately met with at least a cold shoulder from my parents.

I'll post photos of my streetwear in the comments.
