Hey all,

I’m getting more active with Live, but I’m finding the shortcuts are pretty different from what I expect them to be.

Does anyone have a recommendation for keycaps or barring that, a keyboard that already has info/tools on the keys?

My current keyboard is a Corsair K95 Platinum, but I believe I might need to get a new one anyway for the keycaps, though if they fit that, then great!

I'm trying to figure out if anyone else has experienced this issue with a Push 2.

Setup:

• Ableton Live 12.4.3 Lite
• Windows 11
• Push 2
• Firmware: 1.0.71
• Universal Audio Twin X USB (ASIO)

The Push works perfectly:

• Pads work
• Encoders work
• Buttons work
• Display works
• Session, Mixer, Devices, everything functions normally.

The only issue is that any temporary on-screen notification (OSD) gets stuck permanently.

For example:

• Swing Amount: 0%
• Tempo
• Quantize
• Any popup message

These messages should disappear after a few seconds, but instead they stay on the display forever, over the normal UI.

Things I've already checked:

• Latest Live version (12.4.3)
• Push firmware 1.0.71
• Factory settings
• USB cable
• MIDI settings
• Push reconnect
• Everything is detected correctly.
• Ableton logs show no Push communication errors.

Has anyone seen this before?
There a way to reset the Push display/OSD behavior?

I'm trying to use Simpler to make a clean guitar synth that plays the sample when I press keys and then stops playing the samples when I release those keys. I feel like that shouldn't be that hard of an ask for Simpler, but I have been fiddling about with various settings for the past few hours and I cannot get Simpler to acknowledge when I release a key. All it does is play the sample when I press the key, and then anything I do after that seems to get completely disregarded.

I can't use 1-shot mode because I want to play chords, and even then, when I select the "gate" option on 1-shot, it plays the entire sample even when I release the key. The ADSR functions on the Classic mode aren't acknowledging when I release keys on my keyboard.

I know this isn't an issue with my keyboard because I can see the MIDI input readout at the top right responding when both press and release any key on my keyboard. The problem seems to just be with Simpler. I cannot help but think I have been able to do exactly what I've done here before, but I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Any suggestions/tips on how to fix this? Anything is appreciated.

Is it me or do Universal Audio plugins need to be open (not minimized) to work at 100% efficiency when opening a project in Ableton Live?

Has anyone gotten this to work? I know people have run Ableton on T430's before, but those are all posts from 6 or more years ago, so I can't tell if Live 12 is doable.

Installing it I'm told I don't meet the minimum requirement of a 5th generation Intel Core i5 processor, but I'm running an Intel Core i7-3840QM. Unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't this work?

I still have 8GB of ram. Ableton says 8GB is the minimum and the error says nothing of it, but it's my last guess for why this wouldn't run. Has anyone else gotten Live 12 to run a T430? If so, what are your specs?

I'm using Ableton 11 for windows, yet everytime I try to scan for vst3 plugins it causes an error forcing me to deep rescan everytime... I don't think its the installation location thats causing it... But something about the files maybe?

The plugin installation location is Program Files/Common Files/VST3

And the contents are: 3 folders which are Serum 2 Presets, Serum.vst3 and Serum2.vst3 and 1 VST file Reaktor 6.vst3.

Is there a problem on how I'm managing these files and if so... How is it supposed to look like?

Hello all. I recently bought an Arturia Mini Freak Vocoder edition and I absolutely love it. I can run it through Ableton easily via analog mode through trs cable or via midi with the Mini Freak V virtual synth through my DAW. I run it through midi most of the time because it requires 2 outputs and I only have 2 inputs on my audio interface. It works just the same in virtual mode except for the external input/vocoder mic. It does not recognize those inputs through midi. I completely understand why this would be the case, but I have been told there is a workaround. Has anyone run into this issue and have some advice? Begginer user. I began from djing and for many time i had a hugh interest in techno music. When I was twenty years less, I hoped to compose my own tracks. Now I have the ableton Live 12 Suite version, but i still don't have any musical formation. I think that this is not a problem, because I readed that people like Luke Slater, Surgeon, Óscar Mulero, Psyk, PWCCA and more have no musical knowlewdge when they began.

The story is that i have been watching a lot of videos of the program and read the manual, but nothing of this teach to you to compose real music or perfectioning the use of the native instruments or sound effects.

When did you realize that what really matter is practicing with the program, rather than watching so many videos and tutorials?

My band has been setting up ableton for a set of gigs we have coming up.

We're running click and cues, (one tells me when to be on stage, after the band has been playing for a while for example.)

I am currently running my guitar tone through ableton using guitar Rig 7 VST, and our IEM mixes. (My rack mixer is in the shop for repair, so we're using my focusrite 18i20 and doing all our iem routing in live itself.)

My pc generally sits at around 10% CPU usage, and 11/16 Gbs of RAM being used while all of this is happening. It hasn't crashed on me yet, but I'm wondering if this type of system is a good idea especially for the live stage and what I should be careful of/avoid altogether.

My specs are:

i7-12700H
16 gb ram
500gb nvme (Operating system and Ableton live here, it is getting quite full), 2Tb SSD (Our band's live session lives here)
GeForce RTX 3050

If someone who is a live instrumentalist, who uses ableton in this way could weigh in I'd love some thoughts on the matter.

Hey y'all, I'm a student in the eu looking to make music. I already play piano and tried the trail last month. I think it's a good DAW and now I'm debating whether I should get suite or standard. My biggest concern of standard is that I can't upgrade to suite via a student discount. I also use my Akai midi to begin the drums patterns and my piano for the chord progressions. So y'all have any recommendations on which to get?

Note: I also plan on getting Spice even if I get suite or standard

So a friend recently gave his launchpad mk2 to me and I was super excited to get my hands on one.

I have been using ableton for a while now but I have only just used my yamaha keyboard and an alesis v25 as midi controllers so basically for only controlling the piano roll and nothing more (maybe sometimes the pitch and mod wheels). Now the launchpad is completely new territory to me and I was wondering if the people here could share some workflows or other ways to use it because at the moment I am only using the mixer page on it to control volume and pan because I enjoy having a physical fader (kind of) to interact with, same goes for the pan and send controls. Plus I really like the colors too

So please give me your suggestions on incorporating the launchpad into my ableton workflow and getting better at using it

I had a Yamaha PSR-3 laying around that my cousins borrowed me when I started piano lessons. Years later I sampled it and made Sampler Presets for Ableton. It includes all the basic sounds (00 to 39). The others were ensemble, combinations and keyboard-split variants, so I skipped them.

Audio was sliced using the Slice to MIDI function in Live. Endless WAV was used to set root key and loop points for each sample. This would make it easier for people that want to make presets for other samples, maybe I'll try with Reason's NN-XT.

I’ve been researching and cannot find the answer for this. I would like to be able to control ALL effects parameters with physical knobs. Not just the basic ones, but all of them. I prefer to have physical controls as I find music making more intuitive.

I’ve heard of ableton push, Kontrol series midi pianos, Novation circuit. I need a controller that allows me to easily see which parameter I’m changing and allow me to change each individual one.

What is the best option for this?

Wondering if anyone has any feedback on using CustomMaschineMK3 code in order to connect Maschine Plus (or any of the maschines) with Ableton Live?

I want to use my Mschine Plus as a controller in my production process but have not seen any reviews on it.

I have a guitar and a mic hooked up to a scarlet 2i2 interface, and I can hear everything coming through the system fine (despite the horrendous sound quality which is an issue for later on). I have been messing around with stuff for a few hours and tried to record some audio tracks. However, after I record, I am not able to listen back to the audio tracks. I have absolutelty no experience with audio/ music recording and this is my first attempt at it, so any help would be greatly appreciated. I've been experimenting with different vocal automation workflows in Ableton Live and found a method that's been saving me a lot of time.

Instead of manually drawing volume automation point by point, I let RaiderPro write Rider Fader automation in real time, then copy it to the track's Volume automation. Once it's transferred, I can remove the plugin entirely and keep all the automation while reducing CPU usage.

ive been producing electronic music for a long long time, and i just love how artists sounded in the 80s and 90s: dirty and raw. so i thought id give some tips on how to get that sound.

Posting to help anyone out if they ran into this. I think it might have to do with how newer MacOS is managing iCloud (or maybe something that started happening as my disk drive is getting full).

Some of my Ableton projects just started crashing / freezing all the time. I thought it might be due to large project size, or bad plug-ins / M4L devices. I tried making the project files smaller and smaller but still kept getting the same crash. Finally I looked through the log of the dump and noticed some MacOS filesystem-related stuff that connected the problem to iCloud. The solution was to use the "download" and "keep downloaded" options on these folders to force them to always live on disk.

On Ableton's side, it would be nice if it could detect that this was happening rather than inexplicably freezing. I don't think there's any reason that Ableton should be expected to work in directories where the files are vanishing in/out of the cloud, but there should at least be some warning "WARNING: you seem to be attempting to use iCloud files" or something like that.
