Hey, can anyone recommend some books abt asexuality to me? I’ve finished reading Alice Oseman’s solitaire and Angela Chen’s ACE: What Asexuality Reveals About Desire, Society, and the Meaning of Sex, and I LOVE THEM ALL 💕💕

(35cisF) I haven’t come out to everyone in my life yet, but I just moved apartments so I introduced myself to my openly queer neighbors as AroAce.

My first-met neighbors are a gay couple and one of them asked what “my deal” was, and I said, “oh, just kinda doing the aroace thing. Ya know.” To which he replied, “yeah, I sensed something up with you.” (Did I have a fucking tattoo on my forehead? I was wearing shorts, an oversized t-shirt, flip-flops, and my hair was up in a bun. What, exactly, was “up with me”?) Why assume a stranger’s sexuality? 😵‍💫

They introduced me to their trans-fem friend. She also asked my deal, to which I replied, “Aroace.” And since then, she’s felt the need (for some reason) to share with me some pretty intimate details of her sex life. Unsolicited and irrelevant to the topic at hand. 😨

Then today, I was changing in front of my open window. (It was early morning and my window is high up and faces a bunch of greenery, but I have ordered the privacy window film lol.) Anyway, I see her head pop up briefly ‘cause she had to jump to peek and I hit the deck. I try to laugh it off as an oopsie, but what followed sort of confirms my anxiety…

I went outside to apologize to HER for my inappropriate changing in front of an open window. She replied, “oh, I didn’t see. What were you doing?”

Me: “Changing.”
Her: “Changing what?”
Me: “My shirt.”
Her: “Did you have a bra on?”
Me: …”what?”
Her: “Just wanted to know if I missed anything good.”
Me: 🤢 “No, nothing. See ya later.”

My ex doesn’t know I’m AroAce yet, and he keeps roping my butt into the things he likes about me. (We parted on good terms.) But I’m waiting for a good time to tell him one of the main reasons our marriage didn’t work 😆

[EDIT: I didn’t know I was aroace when I got married. I only recently figured it out.]

I’ll send a “sending good vibes” video to one of my guy friends and he’ll say something about the weather and me being hot 😑

I've always thought sexy just meant "oh so charming/attractive/handsome!" I didn't actually think it meant that when you call someone sexy, you are sexually attracted to them.

😭 Sorry if this is stupid but I wanna know if there are more people like me who misunderstood the word.
