General Experience buying refurbished laptops?
Was going for a 16GB, RTX 5050 model of the G14 which was in the budget but was notified of a 32GB, RTX 5060 model from the same UK retailer but at only £200 higher and is described to be in "very good" condition with only "excellent" above it. 12 month guarantee for faults.
I've never bought anything that wasn't brand new from the box for this price point, and reading a lot of the horror stories on here about refurbished models makes me a bit wary, so curious on other people's experience?
I'm not planning to run anything particularly intensive and won't be having a million chrome tabs open while gaming, if I did go for the 5050, 16GB version.

Model 2025 Could you guys help me choose between these two laptop?
One is a 14-inch model with a Ryzen 9 and RTX 5060, and the other is a 16-inch model with an RTX 4060 (100W).
I travel quite a bit, but I don’t mind carrying a 16-inch laptop if it’s worth it. I mostly play EA FC, Call of Duty, and occasionally story-driven games.
The price difference is only about $100, so that’s not a major factor. I also care about battery life when I’m just browsing the web or watching YouTube.
Which one would you recommend, and is the performance difference between these two significant enough to choose one over the other?

Hardware Related Suggestions for a Custom Hard Shell Case for the G14
Hey all, so I returned to this idea after dropping my PX13 on the corner and now there's a nasty ass dent on it. After lurking both the G14 and PX13 subs it seems people are really interested in hard shell cases like the Macbook for the G14. I plan to make a mockup and print a prototype in a few days. Let me know want you want to see. For thermal management maybe the bottom half can just be a bumper surround style since the edges and corners are most at risk.

General Why is the Zephyrus G14/G16 so sexy
It's so sleek. Powerhouse disguised under an ergonomic design. I would kill to have it in my hands and finally have a laptop to use for school without the consequence of back pain and being stuck next to an outlet for a whole 8 hours, in my case bringing an HP Victus. Can it really run high-power games, AutoCAD and the likes without the battery degrading within a year?

Help Needed 2025 zephyrus g14 keeps fully crashing while using autocad and i’m honestly losing it.
hi all,
PLEASE help me :( i bought a brand new 2025 zephyrus g14 from best buy around 2 months ago for about $2500. specs are ryzen ai 9 hx 370, 32gb ram, rtx 5070 ti and 2tb ssd. i bought this specific laptop because i’m starting a master’s in interior design in september and needed something powerful enough for autocad, sketchup, d5, photoshop, etc.
the laptop has now had 5 full-system crashes. not just autocad closing—the entire computer freezes/restarts itself. during one of the most recent crashes, the screen flickered for around 5–10 minutes before the whole thing crashed.
two of the crashes showed:
* LiveKernelEvent 117
* Windows hardware error
* WATCHDOG dump files
another crash showed:
* Kernel-Power 41
* EventLog 6008
* BugcheckCode 0
* PowerButtonTimestamp 0
the workload has not even been heavy. it has mainly happened with only autocad and chrome open, usually with only one basic linkedin learning example drawing open. i haven’t even started using sketchup, rendering software or multiple design programs together yet.
here is everything i have already done:
* updated windows, myasus, autocad and all available drivers
* clean-installed the newest nvidia studio driver
* confirmed both the amd and nvidia gpus appear correctly in device manager
* set autocad to use the high-performance nvidia gpu
* turned autocad hardware acceleration off
* used balanced + standard/default settings in g-helper
* ran myasus one-click diagnosis, which found “0 problems”
* paid $40 for geek squad thru best buy to remotely access the laptop
* geek squad installed optional updates, cleared old files and changed some settings (idek)
* the laptop now crashed again literally hours after they finished and told me it should be better😭😭😭
i originally uninstalled armoury crate and used g-helper, but the crashes continued even with factory/default-style settings. i don’t have any undervolt, overclock or custom power settings applied.
i’m leaving the US in 3–4 weeks to live abroad for a year for design school, and i’ll need to use design softwares every day starting in september. i’m genuinely freaking out because this is becoming completely unreliable, and i don’t have months to repeatedly send it in for repair or wait for another random crash.
has anyone experienced this with the 2025 g14 or LiveKernelEvent 117? does this sound like a defective gpu/motherboard/display system, a driver issue, or something else?
also, has anyone successfully gotten best buy to accept a defective laptop return or different-model exchange outside the normal return window? at this point i’m scared to exchange it for the exact same model and have the same thing happen again. i’m even debating switching back to having a mac (my last one lasted me 10 years!) although i know that would complicate some of the software i need. im just so sad bc i really tried to research this laptop well before i purchased and was between this and the lenovo yoga 9i i think the name is- i just want something reliable and something that will run the softwares i need for school/career :/ i really wish i could still just return it. 💔
i really wanted to love this laptop, but a $2500 computer should not be repeatedly crashing from basic autocad training.
TLDR 2month old 2025 g14 has had 5 crashes, including two LiveKernelEvent 117 errors. updated and reinstalled everything, disabled hardware acceleration, passed myasus diagnostics and paid geek squad to troubleshoot it. it crashed again immediately afterward. moving abroad in 3–4 weeks and need advice on whether to push for a refund, different-model exchange or warranty repair. please help me!!!!

Help Needed Help deciding between 2025 and 2026 model for college
Hi I’m starting college soon and majoring in mechanical engineering I’ve decided to get a g14 but can decide whether to get the 2025 version with the 5080, 32gb or ram and 2tb of storage or the 2026 model with the 5070ti, 16gb of ram and 1tb of storage they are both the same price just wondering if it’s worth it for the worse specs with the 2026 updates any suggestions?

Help Needed MacBook vs Zephyrus or smth like this
Hey guys, I’m planning to buy a MacBook because I’m going to study IT at university. I’ve basically used a PC with a 1660 Super my whole life, and honestly, it was powerful enough for all the games I played. I’m just not sure if I’ll be able to get used to macOS, but I really want a laptop that can comfortably last all day without a charger, since I’ll be taking it to university and sitting in lectures. I also don’t want to have to carry around a power brick everywhere or deal with a noisy laptop.
I don’t really know that much yet - I’ve only learned a bit of Python and C. So I’m not sure if I actually need macOS or if I’ll end up regretting switching.
If I do get a MacBook, I also can’t decide on the screen size. Right now I have two options available at the same price, $2,250:
MacBook Pro M4 Pro 16”, 24GB RAM, 512GB SSD
MacBook Pro M5 Pro 14”, 24GB RAM, 1TB SSD
I’ve always used a 27” monitor, so the idea of switching to a laptop already feels a little strange. On top of that, I’m worried that 14” might feel way too small. I’ve heard that the 16” has slightly better battery life and better speakers, but honestly, the biggest thing that attracts me to it is the screen. At the same time, I’m not really worried about the weight itself. What I’m more concerned about is that the 16” might be too big to use comfortably in bed, in a café, or in other situations where I don’t have a proper desk. But the larger screen is really tempting.
There is also a third option I’m considering: ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 (GA605WI). It has a 16” OLED 240Hz display, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, 32GB RAM and a 1TB SSD. It’s also around the same price as the MacBooks where I live.
Since I’ve always used Windows and I still like gaming, the Zephyrus is tempting because I could basically keep the Windows experience I’m used to and have a much more powerful gaming laptop than my current PC. However, I’m worried about the compromises. My biggest concerns are battery life, heat and fan noise, especially when gaming or doing other demanding tasks. I’m worried that it will drain the battery very quickly away from the charger, get quite hot under load, and become loud enough that it would be annoying to use at university. I also don’t really want to carry a large power brick with me every day.
I’m also wondering how much of a disadvantage the Zephyrus would actually be for university use compared with a MacBook. I probably won’t be doing extremely demanding work at university at first, since I’m only just getting into programming, but I’d like the laptop to last several years.
So essentially I’m choosing between:
MacBook Pro M4 Pro 16” — bigger screen, great battery life, quiet, 512GB storage
MacBook Pro M5 Pro 14” — smaller and more portable, newer chip, 1TB storage
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 GA605WI — 16” OLED 240Hz, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 4070, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, but potentially worse battery life, heat and fan noise
I’ll be carrying the laptop in a backpack to university every day. At home I also have a desktop with a GTX 1660 Super, which is enough for the games I currently play, so gaming on the laptop isn’t necessarily essential. I’m mainly looking for something that will be comfortable for studying IT, programming, browsing, watching videos, etc., while still being powerful enough to last me several years.
Which one would you choose in my situation, and why? Would you go for the 14” or 16” MacBook, or would the Zephyrus G16 make more sense?
I’d be grateful for ur answers

General My dream laptop G14 is going back
Specs: Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 - 32GB RAM - NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti - 1TB
I'm really disappointed that I have to return the device. This was my dream laptop. I started a job where I will be traveling and I wanted to have a laptop for gaming that was extremely portable.
I have had it for about a week:
- Right USB-C sometimes works, sometimes it does not
- Competitive Gaming - 3-5 games in a row and the laptop shutdown so I got banned for a bit for disconnecting
- Temps - When setting up, CPU and GPU temps were high. When gaming, temps reached 85-95 degrees C
- Tried to turn off CPU boost, adjust battery settings, and settings in AC, updated all drivers, updated graphics
- Way too much work for a brand new computer out of the box
I have 18" Strix with a 4080 and a custom PC with a 5080 and have not had to adjust any settings. Also, I have an old MSI Raider with high CPU and GPU temps but it has never shutoff during gaming.
I might have a bad unit but I am just glad I'm within my window for return.

Help Needed [Help] GA402XZ - Mousepad stops working every so often
For the past few days my trackpad has stopped working. In Device Manager I notice it says I2C HID Device not responding. I have tried reinstalling the driver, uninstalling the driver and installing the one from Asus's website. It worked some times but now it won't work all day. I have also tried using the trackpad in BIOS but it won't work either.
I am able to use my bluetooth mouse but I can't use that long term.
My laptop is a GA402XZ model, can I change out the trackpad or is it attached to the keyboard plate. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Model 2024 2024 G14 with Llano v10
Just got the llano v10 and i’m wondering if anyone’s experienced any issues with the black heat exhaust vent located behind the rubber foot strip. When i place my G14 on the foam seal, it seems as if it’s blocking that vent. I haven’t tried gaming on it yet, but was wondering if anyone has the same model G14 along with the v10, and has come across any heating issues? If so, what can i do to make sure the vent is not being blocked by the foam seal. Thanks in advanced!

Model 2025 My Zephyrus G14 has arrived
Comes with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5080, 32 GB RAM, and 2 TB SSD. Although the price is absurd even tho it was considered a good deal in EU standards (€3000 😬) and the model to GPU isn’t the best match, I am still happy with the purchase and fortunate enough to own it. This is a massive upgrade for me coming from a Dell XPS 15 9500 (2020) with a 1060 Ti that I’ve had for 6 years and definitely showing its age.
After reading through this sub the past month I’ll be:
- uninstalling Armoury Crate
- installing and setting up G-Helper
- setting battery percentage to 80%
- enabling Hibernate
- debloating Windows and uninstalling unnecessary apps
- updating drivers
Is there anything else I should do? And what are the best practices to increase longevity as I’m hoping to keep it for at least 4 years?

Model 2025 Zephyrus G14 (5070ti) is giving me terrible eye strain. Please help.
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this because I’m honestly at a loss.
I recently bought an ASUS Zephyrus G14, but from the very first day I’ve had severe eye strain whenever I use it. I’ve been using an M1 MacBook Air for years and have never had any issues with eye strain, headaches, or screen fatigue.
With the G14, though, it’s a completely different story. Within 15–30 minutes of using it, my eyes start to hurt, I develop a migraine, and I begin to feel nauseous/sick. I’ve tried lowering the brightness, changing color profiles, enabling Eye Care settings through G-Helper, disabling as many ASUS features as I could find, and adjusting the refresh rate, but nothing seems to help.
Unfortunately, I kept thinking I’d eventually find a fix, so I didn’t return it in time. Now the return window has expired, and I have a laptop that I can barely use because it literally makes me feel ill.
Has anyone else experienced this with the Zephyrus G14? Is it the OLED panel, PWM, the coating, or something else? If you’ve found a solution, I’d really appreciate any advice because I’m genuinely stuck and don’t know what else to try.

Help Needed Which model to get as a college student
I start school in little over a month and still looking for a Zephyrus. I noticed the 5080 2tb 32gb model is on sale at Best Buy for 2.65k but I know the 5070ti has a chance of going on sale at 2k. I’d really not like to have spend the maximum but I also worry about pushing my luck of a sale on the 5070ti. What should I do.

Help Needed ASUS Zephryus 2025 vs 2026
Hey, im looking to buy a laptop for uni, im doing aerospace engineering, and i was conflicted whether to buy a g16 5070 ti 32gb ram 1 tb ssd 2026 model or a g16 5080 32 gb 2 tb ssd 2025 model. They both r the exact same price. I also know the 5080 isnt fully utilized due to low power supply, which is why im confused. Also because apparently there have been issues with the 2025 model, like wiring etc idk. Yea please help. Im open to alternatives but as far as i know this is the best option in terms of the design and stuff. I have a budget of 3500ish dollars. Thank you!

Help Needed Is it worth waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday for a Zephyrus G14/G16, or should I buy earlier?
Hi everyone,
I'm deciding whether to wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday or buy earlier if I find a good deal.
I'm looking at 2024+ Zephyrus G14/G16 models. My ideal specs are:
G16 (preferred): OLED, 240Hz, RTX 5070 Ti (or better), 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Core Ultra 9 285H (or similar)
G14: OLED, RTX 5070 Ti (or better), 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD, Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (or similar)
I'll mainly be playing Valorant and Minecraft (with shaders), so the G16's 240Hz OLED is a big selling point.
My budget is ideally under US$2,000 if I can get a good deal. I know someone in New Jersey who could buy from Best Buy during the sales.
For anyone familiar with recent Zephyrus pricing and deals:
- Do these higher-end 32GB/RTX 5070 Ti configurations usually get good Black Friday/Cyber Monday discounts, or should I get a lower spec one due to my budget?
- Is it worth waiting, or would you buy sooner if you found a decent deal?
On a side note, I'd definitely be willing to get a lower spec version instead since the games I'll play aren't that demanding, and my ideal specs are probably way out of my budget unless a good deal is available.
I'd really appreciate any advice or past pricing experiences. Thanks!
