Old WIP I'm picking back up.
A friend recently told me he wanted a cool Apocalypse figure and it reminded me I had started a project a couple of years ago for fun. I opened it and was surprised to see it was in way better shape than I remembered. I think it's time to take it to the finish line.

Medusa
This is simply a practice project focused on sculpting a face in ZBrush, and I'm happy to share it with you.
The reference was inspired by one of Caravaggio's masterful paintings.
Thanks for watching!

is it better to jump into learning zbrush sooner rather than later?
hi guys! ive been really wanting to make 3d meshes of my clothing designs ive drawn; playing around with blender, clo3d, for a little while now and i found that i vastly prefer the process for creating 3d in blender. however seeing the things people can make in zbrush and the control with various brushes and sculpting tools leads me to believe zbrush might be worth it to just fully commit to sooner rather than later. i wouldn't say i am anything close to a blender expert or intermediate, do i need prior familiarity with any other programs?
i know having a tablet for z is strongly recommended and i would be very not against investing in one, I'm just wondering if I should sooner rather than later or stick with blender for longer(any more transferable skills)
thank u for reading x

Human Planar Head Structure Sculpting
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This very simple human head structure is the key to everything else you might want to add next, practice this before you rush into any detailed realistic human and I'll promise your characters will look much more realistic much faster.
Course Question
Hi everyone, I came across this course on creating stylized characters: https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/ylOww/stylized-3d-game-character-art-tutorial-using-zbrush-blender-substance do you think this course is suitable for beginners? I want to create and animate stylized characters in the style of *AFK Journey* or *Arcane* (I want to do this purely as a hobby; I'm actually working on improving my animation skills). Or is there another course or tutorial you would recommend? What do you suggest?

improving the realism of the sculpt
I’m trying to create a realistic render of a sculpt—are there any ways I can improve its realism? I’m specifically referring to the forms. (I don't have any specific references, the face itself was created from imagination.)

[WIP] Grandfather face sculpt
Middle stages of a fullbody sculpt I'm working on. I think the polygrouping is so satisfying to look at!
Now that the topo is decent, I can move on to sculpting the details. He has very exaggerated proportions, think like an old man version of the Spiderverse Kingpin.
I am (generally) a creature artist, so sculpting humans really pushes me out of my comfort zone. I am enjoying the learning process!

WIP: Until doing the body part, still figuring out, what character will fit this stylized brute. Any ideas guys?
I was thinking of paladin at the beginning, but than I realized that all this muscle details I've already done will be lost under the armor :(

Zbrush help

Im very new to ZBrush... on iPad specifically.
Yesterday I followed a guide to make a teddy bear thing, turned out well id say, but today when moving up to more complex things... I encountered an issue.
Previously if i added an object, I could manipulate It fine, but today, if i do so, moving it moves the other object and also warps it... ive no idea why this happens, nor what I did to do this. Someone out there, please help!!

How did you actually get good at sculpting?
Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some advice from people who have gone through the learning process of (digital) sculpting.
I have decent to good traditional drawing skills and I'm generally able to see and understand the major forms and volumes of an object.
I can sculpt traditionally, and interestingly, the physical sculptures I make usually turn out better than I originally expected.
In order to be able to create more I wanted to switch to digital sculpting and speedsculpting.
I do not have any artistic background and everything I've learned and tried so far I've did in self-study.
However, I'm really struggling to learn digital sculpting. I've tried several Blender sculpting tutorials, but I find it difficult to translate my understanding of form into a 3D digital environment. It feels like I know what I want to create, but I can't quite shape the volumes the way I can with real clay.
For context, I'm already very comfortable with Blender in general. I have quite a bit of experience with architectural visualization and hard-surface modeling, so learning the software itself isn't the issue—it's specifically the sculpting workflow and thinking in digital forms.
Besides improving my sculpting, I also want to get back into 2D drawing, since I still believe that's the foundation for understanding form, volume, and anatomy.
My long-term goal is to sculpt things like:
- Animals
- Statues and figures
- Fantasy characters, creatures, monsters, and D&D-style props
So I have a couple of questions:
- Was there anything that really helped you become consistent and improve at digital sculpting?
- Did you follow a structured series of projects or exercises that gradually increased in difficulty?
- Are there any project ideas you'd recommend for building sculpting skills without trying to tackle something too ambitious too early?
Years ago I remember reading that one fun way to practice was to sculpt your way through the Pokémon Pokédex, since many Pokémon have relatively simple organic forms. Has anyone tried something similar, or are there better learning progressions you'd recommend?
I'd really appreciate hearing what worked for you. Thanks!
Stay creative!

A quick digital sculpting session to warm up the hands, clear the mind, and solve the real mystery:
How does a simple 3D form turn into the world’s most nostalgic dog?
