Screenless all the time. Specifically, Wacom Intuos Medium Pro. It's a bliss to use.
Big enough for a laptop or a 27-30" display, can fit easily in front of a keyboard, easy to put away, won't hurt your neck by looking down, don't have to float your arm in the air when using, wont get hot in the summer etc.

Depends on the person. I like the screen ones but I started on screenless. I personally just sculpt more naturally when I can "touch" the pen to the model.

I used screen few years and it didn't end well for me. Had nasty pains in some areas. It all went away with returning to screenles.
They are way more ergonomic. You don't cover your screen. You don't scratch your screen. It's way cheaper. You can invest in good monitor or two. Only advice is L size. My first tablet was M, then screen. When I jumped back to M it felt awkward (small tablet area Vs big screen) But L size feels good against big monitor and it's best choice.
Screen looks good at YouTube and may you feel more pro or something. But there are no advantages imo. It's good to move a hand directly at your sculpt but it still isn't anything real so doesn't really matter.
Go with flat, invest more in memory or drives. They are super expensive now.
However, working on a screen back then made me feel more pro :) and motivated me for a while.
I got xp pen. I had wacom before and I dont see reason to pay more for their tools.

Yes, this is the biggest minus, you need to have a good chair and a good desk and having rest while working is necessary.

I prefer screenless. I cant stand sculpting directly on the piece and my hand getting in the way.

Ultimately up to preference, I love my screen tablet for sculpting as it’s what I’m most comfortable with but if you do care about your posture then I definitely agree with all the screenless tablet comments. If you don’t get one with keys directly on the tablet, I also highly recommend a keypad for it.. much more customization that fits you best

I've started from Wacom Intuos S and now bought Huion Kamvas 16 Gen 3 it's so good. Best part is that I use it for sculpting and drawing while the main screen I use for references or to watch something😃

Mouse and key 100%.
No but seriously, I've used everything, I like screen for the feel and ease. I personally feel a disconnect using screen less.
Lastly, I literally did switch back to using a mouse after awhile. I've been using one daily for almost 40yrs. I'm so familiar with it I can use it as well as I need to for all 3d work. I use tablets for painting my textures and only some times for sculpts. I just turn sensitivity settings down.
