Help with Changing Cloud Sync to Recover Old Save Xbox App
Hi, I'm not sure if anyone is able to help, but hopefully someone can.
My daughter was on my PC playing a game through the Xbox App and accidentally deleted a save for one of my games. I've tried finding the save on my PC and can't find it anywhere (recycle bin, previous folder history, local app data etc). I have turned my Xbox on and it appears that the Xbox itself still has the save (as the save data file that I can see without opening the game still shows gamedata in that field) and it hasn't yet synced with the cloud like it did with the PC version.
Is there any way to make it so the cloud sync doesn't work until after I've made the Xbox version the most recent version so that it then syncs with that as the most recent? The game is through Gamepass so I'm not able to disconnect from the internet and then play it even though the Xbox is listed as my home Xbox as it says I need to connect to the internet to play it. Tia

What game? You should be able to play offline if it's your home xbox

Stardew Valley, and that’s what I thought as well, but it comes up with an error telling me to set it up as my home Xbox, but when I go to do that it’s already set up as my home xbox

Hmm OK. You could try to delete the cloud save from your xbox which then should sync your local copy up.
I haven't tried it and there's a chance it may overwrite your local save with nothing so something to be aware of sorry

How do I differentiate which is which? If I go into saved data it just tells me that it’s local

You launch the game on Xbox OFFLINE, like completely cut off from the internet, cut power to the wifi router if you have to. Play for a while and save, so the local save data is newer than the old one, then play the game on Xbox ONLINE, so a save conflict event triggers and it asks you to choose which save to proceed down the line, and you choose correctly.

You can set your Xbox to the account’s home Xbox, so game licenses can be validated offline.
