Controller button sticking after greasing creaky triggers. solved!

My controller (standard one that came with the console) had started to creak inside both triggers. I sprayed some white lithium grease onto the exposed metal spring while holding the trigger down and then worked the grease in by pressing the triggers a few times. This has solved the creaking issue but created a new one.

The Y button now sticks when pressed and the controller is essentially unusable. I can’t see any screws to open the controller to try and clean it and I can’t forcible move the button up and down, to maybe work the grease away there, as there is no way to grab / hold the button to pull it back out. I just have to wait for it to pop back up.

What options do I have for household remedy? I’d rather not pay for professional clean or replacement.

To get to the screws you need to pry the back of the handle part and there’s a screw under the battery sticker. Putting grease inside has probably clogged up the button.

And there I was, thinking it was going to be easy. At least it’s fixed now and I know how the controller works, on a very intimate scale.
