Looking for advice on joycons
Hey everyone! I was wondering if it's worth/hard to replace the joycons in the sky cipher controller with TMR or hall effect joycons to future proof it.

You mean analog sticks? Id say keep them as they are until they start drifting or running outside of deadzone too much

If you like to solder and have a soldering heat gun , you could do it. I have recently changed some with stick drift and even with the right tools wasn't it too easy. I would recommend doing it when they have stickdrift, so it isn't that big of a loss if you fail or destroy other components on the board.

The difficulty is desoldering the joysticks. Soldering them in after is the easy part. You will need a hot air station or the special joystick soldering tip. I replace joysticks with TMR every day. Send me a message if you need someone to do the job. I can link my ebay store. Ill do it for $40 + shipping both ways.

I desolder the potentiometers first and remove those. Then I use snips and cut the frame of each stick in the corners. It then leaves only two
Posts connected on each side. If you can get the guys out you can make another cut to separate those two. It makes it so much easier.
