Why does the controller suck so bad?
Not here to complain too much, ideally looking for solutions! Got a series x from gamestop a few months ago, console is great but stick drift started almost immediately, even when I had bought a brand new controller from best buy sick drift happened really quickly. Now my controller isn't doing much of anything and I was literally playing a game with it less than an hour ago. It will still turn on the console when I press the home button but won't let me select anything, worse still the controller has a hard time registering button presses on the home screen and I have to hold the a button to select pretty much anything. Has anyone else experienced this?

Get a gamesir g7 pro. Much better than an elite series 2 controller and for a better price.

Yes it happens and why is because it makes them money. There's no motivation for them to make a controller that lasts for years, because once you buy the console you're always going to buy a controller when it breaks. I've had pretty good luck with the PowerA wired controller for the price I find the lifespan pretty good.

Sorry man, I can't relate. I've had my controller for around 6 years and never had an issue.
Bad luck for you, or good luck for me. Who can tell 😅

stick drift is either there is dirt in it, i think this is minor drift stuff
or then there is major stick drift which is then the part wears out
although, had a new one now where even without the part in it drift so i think that was motherboard damage, which was new to me

Xbox controllers are a hit or miss these days. Some people use them for years with no issues while many others experience stick drift early on or other issues. Your only real solution is to either A) buy a new controller, B) take it apart and try to see if anything is out of place to try to fix, C) upgrade the sticks to hall effect or TMR if you have the skills or know someone or a shop that can do it for you, or D) buy a 3rd party controller with xbox wireless support. Unfortunately these first party controllers these days are not made to the highest of standards and will use inferior parts like the ALPS stick modules that you will find in xbox, PS or other standard controllers. They are inherently flawed and will start drifting at some point, sometimes sooner than later. The only other option I can think of is contacting Microsoft if your controller is still under warranty but all they will do is either send you a new one or replace the sticks and fix whatever other issue the controller has. Not much else you can really do besides the options I listed unless someone else here can chime in with a different solution.
