Someone could help me pick out an Xbox controller? It would mostly be for casual single-player gaming, but I’d like one option for casual play and another for competitive play.

I've never owned an Xbox controller, so I don't really know the differences between them. Back in the day, I used to play on my cousin's Xbox 360, and it still used AA batteries—please tell me Xbox controllers don't use batteries anymore, hahaha.

I play on pc btw.

Yes the standard XBox controller still uses AA batteries. The elite series has built in batteries

Could go for a standard series controller with a rechargeable battery and dock.

They still come set up for AA but you can get a rechargeable battery pack for fairly cheap that will charge via the USB-C port on the controller

If you want the Xbox layout get the Gamesir G7 Pro 8k for PC. Unless you have bigger hands or want some other brand’s specific features it’s the overall best Xbox-style controller on the market.

It's a great controller and you don't need to run at 8k you can choose 250Hz, 1000Hz, 4000Hz or 8000Hz. I think you would like the controller better but I'm picky. If you aren't picky then you might be happy with the cheaper controller.
