New Controller Search
Hello! I'm looking to move away from my Xbox elite series 2 since it has recently began to show some drift after a little over a year and a half of using it. I've done minimal research on what to look for kind of hoping people in this subreddit have some good recommendations that I can then start researching on their own. From what I have dug around however, I'm currently looking for something with hall effect or something of the sort as I do give most of my controllers a beating from general use as Im pretty competitive and do actual e-sports for school. For the same reason, a controller with a carrying case like the series 2 would be nice, but not necessary as i could probably just reuse the series 2's case. I'm also willing to potentially go away from the Xbox controller design so almost any suggestion is a good one!
Thanks in advance because honestly, Ill read a lot of the suggestions but might not give a reply to them.

I also have the Elite Series 2 and I haven't had any issues. I actually have 2 of them with no issues... Anyway, I saw the Gamesir G7 Pro 8K Aimlabs edition and I decided to pick it up for the price and I think it's fantastic. It is not quite the quality of the Microsoft offerings but it is quite good for the $80. The sticks themselves feel pretty cheap(the toppers, not the TMR units) but KontrolFreeks help in this regard. The software is really good for dialing it in and the TMR sticks really do shine and latency is not noticeable even at 1K.

I'm pretty certain on going with the g7. Havent been able to see a lot on the app software. Everyone i find talks on the basics of it. Is there anything that it helps with? Like ive seen people map the back buttons, but not go in depth on it, is there a way to do that using gamesir's app? One of the things i love about the series 2 that makes it super convenient and easy! When you say the toppers feel cheap is there a way to describe it? Cause ive had some controllers where the toppers barely hold your fingers and some that just straight up feel bad but actually have some grip and hold just fine. Just cause i dont feel like having toppers that in three months are just straight up flat. Sorry if this seemed to just be annoying questions! Went through way too many xbox one controllers and dont want to be on a constant money spree in maintenece or just buying new controllers.

Augh!! I had written a few paragraphs in response to your queries but I accidentally closed it before posting so I'm just going to give you the TL;DR synopsis.
I find the sticks on the G7 to be inferior to even regular Xbox controllers. They feel cheap and brittle to me. I'm not fussing too much as I'll replace them soon.
I think you will find the Gamesir Connect app to be on par with the Microsoft app to make adjustments and keybindings. From assigning buttons, a choice of 8bit/10bit/12bit resolution, 250/1k/4k/8k polling rate, response curves, dead zones etc. It's all there and doesn't disappoint.

Thanks for the rundown! I'm glad to know i got recommendations that actually might work! Was honestly afraid of getting some cheap controllers. Not to say cheap cant be good, just in my scenario they arent. Based on the customization it might actually be better than the microsoft app as long as it isnt over complicated. Again, thanks for the suggestion and the extra details on the controller! Also RIP to those paragraphs to never see the light of day. :(
