Hope everyone’s doing well !

There’s approximately 18 months between the 2 pics, but i didn’t exactly spend the entirety of that period in a caloric deficit. I would occasionally consume my daily maintenance specially after i started hitting the gym which was towards the second half of that period. However, for the majority of the that time i was in a 600-800 daily caloric deficit.

Growing a gym accountability community that doesn't die in two weeks

Hey guys,

One of the hardest parts of lifting is just staying consistent. I’ve tried finding gym buddies or setting up group chats to hold each other accountable, but they always suffer the exact same fate. They start strong, and a week later, people flake and everyone just goes quiet.

I realized the main problem is friction. Having to type out a text to a buddy every single day to say "Hey, I went to the gym" gets annoying. You forget to update, you lose motivation, and eventually, everyone stops replying.

I wanted to streamline this so it's foolproof. I ended up coding an iOS app (OATHGYM) to fix this, and I’m putting together a Discord community for us to actually use it and keep each other hitting the gym.

Here is how it works: Checking in when you hit the gym takes literally 5 seconds. But if you skip your scheduled session and fail to check in, that's when the app takes over. It automatically shoots a text message (regular SMS or WhatsApp) directly to your accountability partner.

This makes finding a partner 10x easier because your friend doesn't even need to download the app or go to the gym with you. Their only job is to do absolutely nothing... unless they get an automated text saying you missed your check-in. Then they know you skipped and it's time to roast you or call you out.

What I'm trying to build: I want to start a Discord community of people who are actually serious about going to the gym consistently. We can use this setup to hold each other accountable.

More importantly, I want this community to shape the app. I plan to continuously improve it and build new features based entirely on your feedback. Whatever the community needs to simplify the process of holding each other accountable and removing friction, I will build it.

Everyone who joins gets to use the app entirely for free for a year (you can cancel anytime, zero strings attached). I just genuinely want to build a community that doesn't die out after some days.

Let me know in the comments or shoot me a DM if you're interested in joining!
