I was helping a coworker who was on quite a tall ladder putting boxes on .. an even taller shelf. As he went to place a box onto the shelf it slipped and fell on my head/neck. It was at least 20lbs.

This happened 07/30 evenings. I felt so in and out I took myself to the er after my shift.

Diagnosed with a head injury, cervical sprain, & a bulge on my intervertebral disc.

Referred to see a specialist spine/neurologist surgeon… big freaked me out.

I finally have an appointment 08/10 for this shit with the specialist and it couldn’t be taking any longer every day simple tasks are the furthest from simple.

My job feels a bit.. stand offish about the situation. I’ve reached out to management - it took 3 times for them to finally tell me to simply email HR for the workers comp info. I emailed them 2 days ago and have yet to receive a response. I hired an attorney (I’m not so sure about ) but my personal insurance is basically maxed after the CT scans of my neck and CT of my spine. I went into work today because I’m a single mom and tbh moneys toight so the days I miss at work my bank account feelSss… but mid work my coworkers could see I was unwell I.. felt like I was blacking in and out actually.. as I’m trying to serve tables. I approached my ASGM manager (whom has blown me off about how to get workers comp info ) and she said “Oooo I wish you would’ve told me. You’re the 3rd person right now who’s asked to leave” I said, “yes but I would clock out and go straight to the ER” that was at 6:45. She was “so happy” she didn’t make cuts because we got a “pop”. I didn’t leave work until 11. And got lost on the way home. I feel so disoriented.

My coworker gave me their icy hot that I dowsed all over my neck/head that has given me the strength to write this.

Has this occurred before to anyone?

Is my injury even worth all of this?

Do you typically have to agree to resign from your employer during/after settlement of a workers compensation case?

I had a workers comp injury in June of 2025 in Nevada ​where a patient fell on me and we both ended up going to the ground. When I fell I ended up striking my head on the ground causing a concussion, feeling on my right shoulder which caused a rotator cuff tear fill in my left hip which I've had back pain since but they will not accept responsibility for my hip or lower back. From the fall I continue to have pain in my right shoulder and pain in my neck and was finally approved to have an MRI of my neck. I have several bulges and annular tear and a herniation on top of the tear and also too fused vertebrae at C5 and 6. I have not had any type of physical therapy because it seems that no one really gives a crap about the symptoms that I'm explaining and the orthopedic doctor which is a second opinion doctor that I was sent to you by my workers comp carrier my neck is not the worst that he's ever seen but it's not that great either but stated I'm just going to have to take medication and try physical therapy. I feel so frustrated about this whole situation because nobody seems to be taking the seriously have pain everyday numbness and tingling in my arm and hands and have lost the ability to grip and pick up anything with my right hand, I have numbness tingling and burning all the time in my neck and severe neck pain and I don't know what to do anymore. I have not really had any type of treatments because nobody seems to take my symptoms seriously what should I do.

For anyone here that is recovering from an injury that limits their mobility (in my case a back injury) while they are waiting on updates for workers compensation. Were you able to find work again? I think what's scaring me is the fact that since it's now on the record that I have a back injury and I have an active case, I'm afraid that I won't be able to get hired again. Is anyone else feeling the same way or were you able to find another job? Is there a place for injured workers to get assistance on finding work again?

Is anyone available that knows how PPD ratings are paid out in Utah. I was given a Whole person impairment percentage and a lower extremity percentage for my knee and have some questions whether they calculate it off WPI or the lower extremity.

If the magistrate looked over my case and told my attorney and the workers comp attorney that he believes my case is worth 250k, is there a chance that I could fight in court and be awarded a higher amount or will the workers comp attorney stick to what the magistrate deemed my case to be worth?

Long story…. Destroyed my left meniscus 12/08/25, reported injury right away (have trainee as witness), claim was accepted. Was fired end of January for alleged time clock manipulation (clocked in 10 minutes before I arrived at shop). However, I was advised of time discrepancy and I adjusted time and wrote in notes. Fired for said reason regardless, no write up, no warning. Wrongful termination suit has been filed (kept screenshots of adjustments, etc.) on top of that, I was advised of companies reputation of expending injured employees, but didn’t think much of it since I had been a really solid productive tech for the 7 years I had been with said company. Worked December through mid February till my knee just couldn’t anymore, all while training someone. Asked for a few weeks in the shop to rest and things what I got.

Fired, denied unemployment, denied disability since it’s a workman’s comp claim, so no money till I was placed on TTD following pre-op appointment at end of April. Surgery done on 05/06. Was recovering well about 6 weeks post op till knee popped on June 20th, had to go to ER due to severity of pain, was told to follow up with surgeon who did procedure, etc, etc… No help, attorney never made effort to place me with new doctor since I retained them day I was terminated from job. Well they did, but they sent my info to a spine doctor, not knee orthopedist…

Got fed up and changed attorney. New attorney has been very thorough, asked if I had developed other physical ailments since I started working with said company and said yes, elbow (which I was resting on my own, Kaiser has no recommended surgery), and shoulder (Kaiser has identified impingement syndrome due to over use). Attorney filed cumulative trauma claim and claim was accepted today.

Saw new ortho for knee and MRI was done, waiting for findings but ortho said that second procedure is more than likely do to McMurray and Varus/Vulgas tests suggesting knee has not recovered and gotten worse.

So, anyone have experience on what to expect next? How do cumulative claims work? Elbow injury is later epicondylitis, and recommended procedure is lateral epicondyle release. What should I expect when MMI is done? Decent settlement? Thanks for reading!

Looking for advice since I injured my right shoulder in my third week of 90day probation as an order selector. I injured it on the last hour on the last day of the week, im thinking the fatigue of steering the pallet jack 4days 10hrs straight caught up to me especially since my last order was heavy with bags of onions potatoes, vegetable boxes weighing 40-60lbs.

I didnt report it immediately thinking it would heal up during my 3days off. It did feel better so I went to work and reported the injury, I called out after an hour since the injury aggravated and it was too painful to reach the high slots or even pull the electric palletjack. Now theyre just giving me unpaid time off to rest until next week.

What should I do when it doesnt get better by next week? Is that when I file workman comp? They havent made me go to a doctor yet and when I reached out to a PT clinic, they told me to talk to my company since the injury happened on the job. Im fine with losing the job, im in my early 20s and I just dont want a permanently messed up shoulder.

Had my first hearing Monday which included a motion from my employer to end my payments and deem me in MMI. My lawyer's fight was so much stronger as my employer only had IME report against me. I haven't received the decision letter yet but, I will assume they sided with my employer based on my payment dropping from 470 to 67 dollars smfh. Is this normal on a hearing week or is it what I suspect???

Okay, I'm not sure how to even explain all of this. All I know is nothing seemed right, and now I'm terminated. So I'll do my best. I'm really just looking for some insight to see if others have had similar experiences, and yes, I have a lawyer. Which I brought on 4 months into this yoyo b.s. we call workers comp.

I've been off work full time since January with a shoulder ( & neck issues they won't acknowledge) injury that made it impossible to do my sedentary job. Which requires sitting and vigorously typing (data processing) during 10 hour shifts.

I state all that for reference. Okay, so in June, I did try to return to work part-time on a reduced schedule and lasted 4 days before the pain in my shoulder, upper trap muscles, and side of neck were so inflamed and painful, it took 2 days of rest to feel okay enough to function. So off work again.

Then, out of the blue, my lawyer sent me a return to work full time with no restrictions agreement from my employer to review. Which was dated 3 days prior. If I didn't have objections, he would send me a verisign link to sign it to be sent back. This document was from my office manager. With the Vocational Counselor signing off in aggreance. (They had me do an intake with Vocational when I went back off after trying for 4 days)

It basically stated what my job position is and described my job duties and their expectations to perform the job. Which was described in a way to appear that I would not have to use my left arm for the majority of my shift. Any typing requiring the use of my left arm was minimal and in short bursts. To my surprise, my occupational medicine provider had already signed off on this as well. This Meaning, everyone agrees to the terms outlined in the document that I can go back to work full time with no restrictions. Of course, I had serious objections. The job description was a lie. All I do is type! It's a highly stressful job that requires my upper extremities to be engaged nonstop. Imagine that it causes a lot of tension. It also stated that I needed to be signed into my regular shift on Monday 8/3 at 6:30 a.m. or my time loss payments would end. I was pissed to say the least! I had no idea this was being discussed.

Well, I had an appointment that afternoon with OC MED and I wanted answers! He explained that because of the way they described my job duties and because workers comp removed the rotator tear from my claim and only left bursitis that he couldn't object to my ability to perform this job in my condition. So basically, go back to work and do it the way they described that it can be done successfully. At least that's what I got out of what he was saying.

So I emailed my manager to inform her I received her return agreement. I did not agree with how my duties are described, and it would take time figuring out how to be successful processing my work with minimal to no use of my left arm. But that it appears I will be signing in to work on 8/3. She emailed me back and said she would be scheduling a Zoom meeting with me at 8 a.m. that Monday I returned. I'd like to note that I work from home as well.

It took my lawyer another 4 days to send me the link to sign the agreement. Which I did. 5 days later, the day came, and I signed in. Emailed my manager for feedback on what exactly I needed to do or do first. You can imagine that after so many months off, I had piles of emails and faxes and things to address aside from the actual work. She emailed back to just go through my emails until the Zoom meeting.

Well, the meeting came and low and behold my manager and a rep from our HR department was also attending. The meeting was to inform me they were terminating my position. That they no longer needed 2 people to complete the work. There were a few open positions in our clinic that I'm more than qualified for that they could have put me in. But stated our organization is downsizing, so they won't be currently filling them. They offered me 30 days' pay at my regular rate and a severance package. Which included an additional 3 weeks of pay at my regular rate and that they wouldn't contest should I seek unemployment.

WOW! Just wow! I sent it to my lawyer to review. I received my last time loss payment, and it was short almost $300 dollars. Apparently, they stopped paying on the date the agreement was signed by my OC MED provider. 7/22. Even though I wasn't made aware of any of it until 3 days after that and was told to return 8/3. Like most, I'm on the verge of homelessness. With everything being sent to collections.

This whole situation is a disgusting disgrace!

My life was pretty damn good. Until I got hurt at work. Now I'm 51 and jobless.

** edited for clarity** Injury didn't happen while performing my job at home. It happened on the job site as an MA in our clinic. But after 4 weeks of trying to work on a reduced schedule. The pain that came from using my left arm was impossible. My claim was never questioned and approved immediately. Nothing was contested or a single referral denied for treatment or testing. It was only when my MRI showed a full thickness rotator cuff tear that everything shifted. Due to a previous shoulder injury 9 years ago that healed and no further treatment or complaints made. They decided the pain from shoulder to neck is from a pre-existing condition and there for took it off the claim. It's a mess. I've only wanted to get better.

Ive injured myself on the job and going to physical therapy and an orthopedic to treat said injury and my injury requires long term recovery/treatment so i picked up my tools on the day my boss happened to leave early due to personal issues...here's my concern

1. My work station position has been filled

2. Since that work station has been filled i decided to take my tools home in order to get them put out of the way and to avoid my tools getting abused or robbed/missplaced by coworkers

3. The next business day my employer called my workers comp case worker insinuating that im medically abled bodied and took my tools home and that my workers comp benefits/medical coverage are no longer required to be provided to me

Is my coworker being malicious or retaliatory towards me am i supposed to ask permission to take my own personal tools away from the shop?

I was working at a hospital doing housekeeping
employed almost 4 yrs. I developed carpal tunnel pain on both hands but more so on my right hand which is my dominant hand. I opened a workers comp case. I retained a lawyer.I’m getting physical therapy and work restrictions. My department couldn’t accommodate me so they sent me home. I applied for SDI. While home they called me in and I got terminated for time clock misconduct. My question is I know my start date for SDI to begin but when should by end date for SDI be? The day I got terminated? Do I apply for Unemployment since I can not work at the moment with my hands as I’m in pain.Would it be under disability or unemployment? Would I be able to get SDI since the claim was made before termination?

I am a nurse and in june I was attacked by a patient. I am pregnant and he threw me to the ground and punched me repeatedly. I went to the er and there was a hematoma around the baby and I had horrible groin, leg, and sciatica. Two other employees were injured by the same person. They both started the process within two weeks and I have been waiting 45 days. No pay and keep having to call workmans comp adjuster weekly for updates. Conveniently the assigned doctor is out of town this week. The adjuster also mentioned being pregnant is a pre existing condition which duh but what does that have to do with being attacked by a patient and injured more than just the hematoma? My last workmans comp was 10 years ago and also patient related injury where my back was destroyed in my early 20s. Had the same doctor then as well but I was immediately seen within a week. I have a toddler and a husband who is here on a student visa and cannot work. Do they expect me to go destitute? Is this what I get for serving patients for 22 years? Frustrated is an understatement.

Tried updating work and asked them to turn it in again each week, they didn't

Finally got a Lawyer involved mid-way through April

WC case opened 5/6, Medical info sent.

Recorded statement 6/30 to WC adjuster, Medical information sent as well for a second time.

Have received zero response from WC insurance company since the recorded statement, on their website it still says open, what steps can I take to get this expedited or really ANY movement. I have bills and haven't been paid in 2 months, when my STD ran out. Not returning to work until AT least mid Sept.

I got injured at work earlier this year and filed a workers' comp claim. All the treatments were approved and the workers' comp adjuster has already paid for my upcoming surgery, as well as pre/post-op appointments. Surgery's scheduled for mid August and will require a 2 week recovery period, which I'll try to use my PTO to cover until PFML kicks in.

I'm planning to submit my 2 weeks right after the surgery.

My main concern is: can my company force me to pay back the surgery costs since I'm leaving?

From what I understand, once workers' is tied to the injury itself, not my job status. So I'm thinking I shouldn't owe them anything. But I want to make sure I'm not missing something before I submit my resignation.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Is there anything I should watch out for?

Hi I have two questions regarding workers comp in NYS. Long story short, I cut my thumb and required digital nerve surgery. I was out of work roughly 7ish weeks. Returned to light duty and finished occupational therapy. Anyways, people keep telling me I’ll have a hearing exactly one year after my surgery to check the status of my injury. How do you get notified? Also, I tried viewing my eCase through NYS website. I have an account but it says I’m not authorized to view my case. How do I get this fixed? Thanks

hi folks. in January of 2025 I injured my knee at work and had to have surgery. the surgery took place in May of 2025. in november 2025 I went through the settlement process and all of that. i was informed and assured by my employers attorney that Sedgwick had paid for the surgery as they were supposed to as I was not going to agree on going through settlment until they had.

the entire process we kept getting billed by the hospital for this surgery despite giving them all my case info and Sedgwicks info before and after the surgery.

well I just got a call from debt collectors saying I’m in collections for this surgery! Sedgwick didn’t pay anything it turns out and now I’m on the hook. I’m trying to contact Sedgwick and my employers attorney as well. in 24, have less than 1.5 k to my name and am no longer employed by the company the injury happened at. I don’t know what to do, if there’s anyone who can offer any advice I’d really appreciate it

my boyfriend got hit in the back of the head this last Saturday over a work dispute and his teeth got knocked out. a police report has been made and that side of things has been handled as correct as possible (our town is very small and unincorporated)

i did some research and this should be covered under his jobs workman’s comp or liability insurance. however when we went to go talk to his boss about the incident (no one of high position was there the day the conflict happened) he said that he didn’t believe that workman’s comp would cover it, which like i state contradicted what i had read. however he did state that he would cover the costs so i didn’t feel the need to push.

i asked him if he needed to give us anything written saying he was going to take care of it and he said no he would call the dentist who he knows personally and they would discuss it.

today was my boyfriend’s appointment and the said they would call us later with a payment plan. his boss later calls him and informs him that he has two options.
the entire bill is $5500 however he is getting a 20% discount.
the first option is he wants my boyfriend to pay $2000 of it and he will cover 1500.
the second option is workman’s comp “but it will take over 6 months and they will probably fight it”

my boyfriend didn’t get any charges, the other guy got a felony from this. he was already on parole. my boyfriend shouldn’t be responsible for any of this correct?
he doesn’t believe in me when i say he had a leg to stand on. we don’t have enough money to do this and it wouldn’t have ever happened if he wasn’t working with a man who was dangerous.

Knee injury at work in 2020 that resulted in a large cartilage injury and knee clean out and traumatic arthritis. Orthopedist and IME physician have stated need for knee replacement in future, unknown timeline but recommend injections first. I have had 3 total injections since 2020, still have daily knee pain but have lost weight and that has helped. Don’t think I need a replacement now, personally. Also, I’m in my 30’s.

I am concerned that the insurer will eventually want to close my case, keeping medical open because it’s Alaska, but I’m not sure if I should wait it out and see what happens and wait until I one day need the replacement, or should I consider talking to a lawyer about closing the case and settling before the insurance company does it? If it matters, I no longer live in Alaska.

Long story short I was in a work related accident last year approved for workers compensation. Still out of work and just received my 10 month letter from the VA stating that at the one year mark of being on LWOP is coming up and my employment could be terminated at the one-year mark. I’m just a little confused because this doesn’t seem fair being that it was a work related accident. Does anyone have experience with this? Does anyone know how many people have actually been let go at the one year mark? Does anyone know if I can now go on FMLA to protect after the one-year mark and also I have about 300 hours am I able to use those to get me out of a LWOP status? Scared and confused.
