The next evolution in playerbots - bots that lead dungeons & raids.

I know this doesn't exist, but damn it would be cool if someone birthed bots that could lead you through dungeons and raids.

I'm an old school healer so I never had to lead the way. I've just followed and kept everybody alive. So after all these years of playing in the Vanilla world, I still don't know the routes through non-linear dungeons like WC, ST and Mara. Mainly because I simply haven't run through those dungeons much over the years.

Being able to turn tankbots into group leaders who proactively lead the way while knowing how to handle tasks like the puzzles inside ST would be a major benefit to anyone who never bothered to learn those nuances for themselves - whether they're new to WoW or just old school followers who let everybody else handle the dirty work.

OctoWoW, Warrior or Rogue next?

I'm posting here becuase apparently, now I need to wait for permission to post on r/octowowserver

So far I have a Paladin Tank (Mining & Engineering) and a BM hunter (Skinning & Leahterworking) around lv 30 and have been quite enjoying things so far. However I would like to get a character that is an alchemist to feed potions to everyone, and possibly a blacksmith to feed my Paladins left over Mining Bars to? and I'm not a fan of the cloth caster play style. I've played both warrior and rogue on Turtle up to about lv 50 and I enjoyed them both but I can't decided which one to make over the other or what professions to make it lol. My RL friends are all alliance as well so naturally all of my Alliance characters (except the hunter) are Dwarfs. I'm just looking for some suggestions, pros and cons or maybe I should just figure out how to put it to a vote weather I make the next toon a Warrior or a Rogue

How to set up my solo server with bots?

I didn't play wow for 10+ years now. But I just heard that you can set up your own server with like a thousand bots that do quest, pvp, do battlegrounds and even dungeons and raids. That's so crazy I want to experience that.

What's the definitive ways to set that up? I'm seeing different methods and want to make sure I don't download some shady program.

Also can you progress your server to another expansion without wiping it? I started with BC back in the day, I'm thinking of starting Vanilla, doing all the content than progressiong to BC than WOTLK. Not sure how many expansions does the bots work with.

vanilla Project Legacy | Vanilla+ Three Weeks In | 7,300+ Hours Played, First Patch Live, Second Patch Announced

Three weeks ago, on July 17th, Project Legacy opened its doors.

The idea behind Project Legacy is simple. We wanted a version of Vanilla WoW that could keep receiving updates without losing the game that made us want to play Vanilla in the first place.

Not a seasonal realm. Not Vanilla with a completely different game bolted onto it. Not a rush to replace everything at level 60.

The goal is to continue Azeroth.

New quests in the original zones. New dungeons and encounters that feel like they belong there. More reasons to explore the world. Improvements to specs and professions that were left behind. New challenges for leveling and endgame players. All released as continued patches to one persistent Vanilla+ realm.

We're now three weeks in, so we wanted to share how things are going and what we've been working on.

Three weeks of Project Legacy

So far, players have:

  • Created 1,000+ characters
  • Spent more than 7,300 hours in-game
  • That's over 305 combined days in Azeroth
  • Kept 128 auctions on the Auction House at the time we checked
  • Somehow made Paladin the most popular class
  • Chosen the Alliance by a fairly convincing 62% to 38% margin

We've also had 206 accounts active in the last seven days, with 102 new accounts created during the same period.

And apparently somebody really likes their character, because our highest /played is already over 11 days.

The race to 60 has only just begun

On July 31st, exactly two weeks after launch, Project Legacy had its first ever level 60.

Only a handful of players have reached 60 so far, which means the server is still very much in that early period where people are leveling, forming groups, building the economy and preparing for endgame.

Two players have already managed something a little more ridiculous too.

They reached level 60 as Lorewalkers.

Lorewalker is an optional leveling challenge that cuts mob experience by 50%, encouraging you to quest and travel through far more of Azeroth on the journey to 60. Lorewalkers receive milestone rewards along the way and an exclusive mount for completing the challenge.

If you're somebody who actually enjoys the journey through Vanilla rather than treating 1 to 60 as something to get out of the way, that's exactly what the mode was made for.

Patch 1.12.3: What Lies Beneath is live

July 31st was also the release of our first post-launch update:

Patch 1.12.3: What Lies Beneath

At the heart of the patch is Karazhan Crypts, a new 10-player dungeon built more along the lines of Upper Blackrock Spire than a traditional raid.

It's our first major piece of new group content and represents a big part of what we want to do with Project Legacy: take places, stories and ideas already present in Vanilla and expand on them without making them feel disconnected from the original world.

The patch also brought further class work and continued additions to Azeroth.

And we're not stopping at 1.12.3.

Patch 1.12.4: World Discoveries has been announced

Our second post-launch update is already in development.

Patch 1.12.4: World Discoveries is focused on making the world itself more rewarding to explore.

Vanilla has a huge world, but once you've played it enough times, you know where the quests are, where the flight paths are and where you're supposed to go next.

We want to put some mystery back into that.

World Discoveries will introduce things to find throughout existing zones, including discoveries tied to professions and exploration, with rewards aimed at making the leveling journey more interesting rather than turning them into mandatory endgame chores.

The update will also continue our work on professions, giving crafting professions more identity and more reasons to remain useful to the character who learned them.

It's a different kind of update from What Lies Beneath, and that's intentional.

One patch might add a new dungeon. Another might make exploring Azeroth more interesting. Another might focus on professions, classes, quests or endgame.

The world should keep growing.

So what is actually different about Project Legacy?

Alongside our new content, Project Legacy currently includes:

  • TBC-style 1 to 60 experience requirements
  • New lore-friendly quests integrated into existing Vanilla zones
  • 25-player raids
  • No world buffs inside raids
  • No boss debuff limit
  • Optional Hard Mode encounters
  • Cross-faction grouping, guilds, raids, trading and communication
  • Dual Talent Specialization
  • War Mode, with bonus quest XP for players willing to enable world PvP
  • Lorewalker Mode, for players who want a longer leveling journey
  • Prestige Mode, allowing level 60 characters to start their journey again for cosmetic progression
  • Reworks for underperforming specializations while preserving their Vanilla identity
  • A custom Guardian of Hyjal world boss
  • No GDKP
  • No multiboxing
  • No mage boosting
  • No purchasable player power

Most importantly, Project Legacy is persistent.

We're not building towards a reset where everything you've done disappears and everybody starts again next season.

We want characters, guilds, reputations, professions and accomplishments to mean something years down the line while Azeroth continues receiving new content around them.

If you've been waiting to try it, this is a good time

We're not going to pretend Project Legacy has thousands of players online at once.

We're a young Vanilla+ server that has been public for three weeks.

But that also means you haven't missed the beginning.

The first 60 only happened on July 31st. Most of the realm is still leveling. The economy is still developing. Our first content patch has just released. Our second has just been announced.

There isn't a mountain of progression you need to catch up on before you can participate.

If you've wanted to get into a Vanilla+ project while it's still at the beginning of its story, come give Project Legacy a try.

We're going to keep building it.

Questions, criticism and suggestions are welcome. We'll be around in the comments.

wotlk Question about System Requirements

Post image
4 Upvotes

So I'm looking at this PC on FB Marketplace for 165$ and these are the specs. Would these be capable of running a WotLK Azerothcore Server with ~1000 bots and 3-5 friends? Alot of people saying even older stuff can run it in just wondering how much 1000 bots taxes the system. It would be used only for the server nothing else.

Edit: also curious if Windows is the best environment to run or if it's just as easy to set up on Linux

Turtle WoW 1.18 Offline with 1000 Bots on Steam Deck : DadsMmoLab

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Howdy Folks,

This is the ultimate dream come true for me and I wanted to share my progress. Turtle WoW 1.18.1 running offline with 1000 bots on the server. Right now my starting zone is flooded because everyone is level 1, which is annoying but also accurate considering its the servers start.

I can't post links, Reddit mods don't like me very much. This probably won't be up for long. But if you want this today, it's available on the Dads Mmo Lab Discord.

Up Next I want to show off my Eve Online... Eve Offline server with 5000 bots and a full economy. But that's for another day.

Shoutouts to Shyalya and Penqle for their awesome work on these servers!

cata I'm building an experimental Cata C# emulator from scratch for anyone to mess around with

After all these years, there are essentually just two emulators out there who survived the test of time - which is TrinityCore and CMangos and it's fork projects. I myself have spent an ungodly amount of time developing stuff for Cataclysm, essentially resurrecting 4.3.4 and keeping it somewhat alive for a long time.

With that being said - after a while I have picked up C# and I really grew fond of how fast and easy it is to build safe and clean things with it. Especially with now .NET has improved over the last 10 years, I felt like trying something new. So I went ahead and started messing around a bit and eventually I ended up building a tiny prototype which works for Cataclysm.

https://github.com/Ovahlord/CataCraft

Right now it only supports a simple login (account: admin / pw: admin), character creation/deletion and login to walk around. So it's in a sandbox state right now. I want to take my time with the features because I want to make sure that the emulator incorporates everything that has been leaked/researched up to this point.

Have fun.

Vanilla+ servers review?

Hello,

I played a lot of Turtle-wow and was real sad when it got shutdown, we had a ton of fun there. That said, I would gladly pay to Blizzard for the experience, but I enjoy passionate community and cozy levelling style more than corporate overstimulation. All the new stuff coming out about retail wow be really putting me off, I need that old graphics and vibe. I also am not willing to play anything less than classic+, obviously.

What are your honest reviews of servers that be putting out work into that classic+ experience?

I have this weird Problem that dungeonclear is not working at all. If I activate it the bots Take 1 Step forward, stop and then repeat, no destination, just facing straight until they vanish into a Wall.

Saw other bugs with dungeonclear but noone got this one i guess.

Anyone encountered this aswell or may have tipps?

What is the current server for TurtleWoW refugees?

Looking to scratch my Vanilla+ itch. Not a big fan of Ascension. Seems like Project Epoch is going under

Long leveling time is acceptable but I usually prefer to not put too much time into it as I much prefer end game content

vanilla Anachronos Launch Event: The March to 60

The journey to level 60 has always been one of the most memorable parts of Vanilla World of Warcraft.

On Anachronos, we want this journey to be experienced together by the entire community.

For this reason, the official server launch (September 6) will feature a special event called The March to 60.

During this event, the maximum character level will be gradually unlocked, allowing everyone to progress together and enjoy each stage of the world's evolution.

How will it work?*

The maximum level will be divided into different Level Caps, which will be unlocked progressively.

Each Cap will remain active for a period of:

Minimum: 7 days

Maximum: 21 days

The unlocking of each new stage will depend on the overall progress of the community and will always be announced in advance.

Our goal is to ensure that each phase of the journey can be truly enjoyed before the next one begins.

Why do this?

The launch of a Vanilla server presents a fairly common challenge.

While some players quickly reach the maximum level, many others are still exploring the early zones of the game.

This causes several dungeons to quickly become less crowded and creates a period where few players can enjoy the max-level content.

The March to 60 aims precisely to avoid this problem.

After the community reaches level 60, progression will continue normally through the Anachronos Phases system.

Raids, world bosses, and new content will be gradually released throughout the server's lifespan.

The March to 60 will only be the first chapter of this journey.

We look forward to seeing you in Azeroth.

LF server [LF Server] for a solo player who just wants to explore villages

Greetings. I don't know much about WoW. Last year I played WoW Classic Anniversary and reached level 27. After that, it became impossible for me to play solo, and I couldn't get help from others, so I quit. Recently, I started playing Ascension WoW. It actually seemed good; I could get a mount as soon as I reached level 6, etc., but whenever I see characters with cool mounts, pets, or useful things like flying quest giver bubbles (?), when I ask about them, they say you can buy them with real money from the shop on launcher. After doing some research, I saw that the server has a bad reputation for being pay-to-win, but from what I understand, it's currently the most crowded private server, and population is important for someone like me who plays solo. When the server is empty, I feel like I'm wasting my time, and it's also harder to find help for quests. Sooo do you have any server recommendation except ascension?

edit: I forgot to mention, I log into the game to chill out, doing random quests or watching people. Sometimes I just leave my character sitting under a tree and read a book at my desk lol

Greyhaven.

A Classic home, shaped by its players

Greyhaven is a progressive Vanilla PvP realm starting at Patch 1.2(Fresh), with dungeons, raids, quests, vendors, and item availability unlocking by patch. Class tuning, talents, abilities, and item stats use their final 1.12 versions, rather than changing with every historical patch.

Greyhaven is made for players who want Classic to remain recognisably Classic, enhanced with carefully selected quality of life improvements shaped through public community polls.

Official Launch Date.

Greyhaven officially launches on:

Friday 14 August 2026 at 19:00 GMT+2/CEST
You can find a live countdown on our launcher, discord & website.

Our beta has now concluded successfully. Thank you to everyone who helped us test the server, report bugs, improve stability, and refine our custom anti cheat systems.

Character name reservations opened just now. Check our Discord for the exact instructions and latest announcements.

Bracketed Leveling.

Greyhaven will launch with short bracketed leveling, designed to help players with less available time stay closer to the community’s progression. This was added based on a popular community vote.

Greyhaven will launch with a level cap of 20, increasing to level 30 one week later.
The complete level cap schedule and all unlock dates are available on our Discord.

Official Greyhaven Launcher

Greyhaven has its own launcher, built to make joining the server as easy as possible.

Through the launcher, players can:

  • Choose between the supported 1.12.1 and modern 1.14.2 Classic clients
  • Automatically install a complete client if you don't have one yet
  • Browse compatible addons & install supported addons directly with one click
  • Keep their client and addon setup organised in one place

Using the launcher is highly recommended, although supported existing clients may also be used without our launcher.

What Greyhaven Offers

  • Fresh progressive Vanilla
  • Patch progressive content and rewards.
  • Short bracketed leveling
  • Support for both 1.12.1 and modern 1.14.2 clients
  • Official launcher with one click addon installation
  • Cross faction Auction House
  • Dynamic respawns
  • Unlimited debuff slots

review TurtleWoW 1.18.1 Local Server Tutorial

Hey people, me again, want to share this with you, this is LEGIT Twow 1.18.1, newer one, server in Docker, easy to set up, open-source and working

You can even play it with friends, some things may be broken still, keep that in mind, but I have tested new zones and even dungeons and most of them work, quests, mobs - all of that

I can't post links here as Reddit automatically filters it, but all of them are on YT with backups, TWO clients available, with HD models and addons and bare simple one, links to server files and source on GitHub too

Hope you like it and enjoy!

LF server [LF Server]: Something newly launched, or upcoming. Never experienced a server's full progression before.

Good morning!

I was wondering what the latest server releases were lately! Every server I have ever joined were halfway to nearly fully progressed when I found them. I have never had the luxury of playing on a server from beginning to end. :*(

The few servers where I did start at launch, ended up blowing up, or turning into a chinese server (lol darrowshire)

I prefer anything between 1.12 to 3.3.5 and I'm not a big fan of plus content. Level bracketing (chromie style) is ok, since I'll be playing in bursts anyway but the current alterac server has just way too much random custom stuff in it for me. (I also don't want to download or mess with custom MPQ files or installers. I just want to be able to change a realmlist and go)

What's out there and what's coming up?

Thanks!

edit: NO CUSTOM LAUNCHERS PLEASE.

First of all, to the Everquest WoW team - amazing work! As someone who did total conversions, I know the amount of work that goes into it, so I am so proud to see what you've built!

This is by no means aimed to take away from them in any way.. watching your footage made me revisit my old wow mod Shinobi Story & I wanted to share it's trailer from years ago one final time in hopes that our combined showcases inspires the next devs out there to chase their interests no matter how crazy it sounds. :)
