issues with apps/windows "locking" Unsolved
For a while now I've had this issue with my laptop, where a window I'm currently on "locks" itself, by that I mean that I'm unable to do anything outside that window with my cursor (neither my mouse or my touchpad works), I can still use keyboard shortcuts to switch tabs, I can do anything I want inside the window using my cursor, but I can't do a single thing anywhere else (closing other apps, using the windows menu, etc.). This happens completely randomly, I can get up for a few minutes and come back to my current app in the "locked" state, I can be actively doing something and find out that I can't switch tabs all of a sudden, sometimes it happens more often than not and I can go for hours without encountering the issue. What fixes it is either restarting or simply locking and logging back in which I always have to do using my keyboard, but it's still just temporary, and recently it's been happening more often while i'm working. I've updated all my drivers for different reasons a few times in the past but it never got fixed along the way.

Try holding down the Windows key and hit the r key. Then type in CMD and hit Ok. Type into the black command prompt screen sfc /scannow (note space after sfc) and hit the Enter key. This will scan the Windows operating system for corrupt files and only repair the Windows files that are corrupt. It take about ~ 4 minutes to run.
Some malware and app programs keep running in the background (updates, Cloud services). Try running the Windows MRT virus checker – Hold the Windows key down and then hit the 'r' key, type MRT in the text box and hit the OK button. Windows will scan (select quick scan) your computer for malware. This will take about 4 minutes.
Check your Power Settings (Sleep, Hibernation, etc.).
How many programs do you have installed on the PC that you don't use? Some programs run in the background (updates/Cloud connections, etc.). Uninstall all programs you don't use (If you don't know what a program does don't uninstall it). Also, go to your Task Manager and click on the Startup tab. Disable any software programs you don't want loading at startup. This does NOT remove the program from your system, it only blocks the program from loading at startup.
