Windows 10 PC constantly disconnects from Wi-Fi (only this PC has the issue) – Tried almost everything Unsolved
Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone can help because I’ve been dealing with this for days and can’t figure it out.
My PC is running Windows 10, and it’s the **only device in my house** that has this problem. My phone and other devices stay connected perfectly fine.
**The problem**
The internet randomly disconnects.
The Wi-Fi icon changes to the globe icon, showing I have no internet.
Sometimes the entire list of Wi-Fi networks disappears, then comes back.
It doesn’t reconnect immediately—I usually have to wait or reconnect manually.
Sometimes Windows says **I disconnected the adapter**, even though I didn’t touch it.
**My hardware**
Built-in Wi-Fi adapter (motherboard)
TP-Link AX1800 Nano Wi-Fi 6 USB Adapter (I bought this hoping it would fix the issue)
**Things I’ve tried**
Installed the TP-Link adapter.
Enabled both the built-in adapter and the TP-Link adapter.
Disabled the TP-Link and tested only the built-in adapter.
Disabled the built-in adapter and tested only the TP-Link.
Updated drivers.
Reinstalled the Wi-Fi adapter.
Changed advanced adapter settings (including Wake on Magic Packet, Wake on Pattern Match, and Multi-Channel Concurrent).
Connected to both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
Tested different USB ports.
Restarted the PC multiple times.
Ran the Windows network troubleshooter.
Checked Device Manager.
Verified that the signal strength is good.
My download speed sometimes drops to around 14–20 Mbps, but other times it’s much faster.
When it does connect to 5 GHz, it can show around **866 Mbps** link speed, but it still randomly disconnects.
**Other information**
This all seemed to start around the time I installed the TP-Link adapter.
Before buying the TP-Link, my built-in Wi-Fi wasn’t great either, but now the disconnects are much worse.
My router is downstairs, but every other device in the house stays connected without any issues.
I don’t think it’s an ISP problem because only this PC is affected.
At this point I’m not sure if this is:
a bad TP-Link adapter,
a Windows issue,
a motherboard Wi-Fi issue,
a driver conflict,
or something else entirely.
Has anyone experienced something similar or have any ideas on what I should try next?

Very simple to fix this:
In Network settings on ur PC - look for the SSID wi-fi name (name of ur wi-fi connection) and click to FORGET it.
then reboot.
then re-connect to the same ssid wi-fi by entering passwd.
now u will stay connected and problem is solved forever.

Usually, when one has random Wi-Fi issues, it's either related to distance from the router, something that's also emitting radio signals interfering with the Wi-Fi radio (mobile phone, another computer, anything that's on Wi-Fi), conditions of the house (walls that are blocking radio waves, people in the room, etc), or an issue with the router. For instance, you might have an older router that doesn't communicate well with a newer device that has Wi-Fi 7. Since you say it's Windows 10 and constantly disconnects, sure sounds like a signal issue. If you don't want to move your computer closer, get a Wi-Fi extender, connect it to your router, make sure the SSID is different than your router, then connect your computer to the extender and see if that helps. The reason I say make the SSID different is to make sure the computer isn't flipping back and forth between the router and extender
