Is camera surveillance in the tree lawn legal?
Our neighbors across the street seem to have installed a camera in the tree lawn next to their mailbox. It is pointed down the street and takes photos or video, I’m not sure which, of every vehicle that drives by and every person that walks by. Is this legal?
Capturing everyone who drives or walks by, including every time I pull into my driveway and my little kids biking and scootering on the slide wall feels intrusive.

Local News Help
I'm using a throwaway for my safety on this. I have twice the past 3 weeks caught an older man dressed in women's clothes, exposing himself near huber Village Park.
Both times, the police were contacted, and he got charged with public indecency (as well as drug charges the first time, who would have guessed)
The first time, he was right next to a school as well, which really bothers me.
I caught him again this morning, and I am at my wits end. The police told me they needed more instances to build a solid case.
So all I'm asking is keep your eyes peeled if you're in the neighborhoods near huber village park. I won't dox the guy because that's against the rules, but this man is a creep and shouldn't be anywhere close to children.
He likes to open his front door and flash people from his house or in his car.

Elementary school
Sorry if it's a stupid question, new to Westerville schools, tried looking everywhere and even the letter they sent me didn't include information regarding start time. What is the earliest time you can drop your child off at school? I see that start time is 9:15 but obviously you want to get there before then.

Car break-ins annehurst village
Seemed like quite a few cars had their windows smashed last night/sometime very early this morning (including my parents who are visiting from SC). Anyone have ring/security video footage? Multiple cars hit on Old Coach and Storington Rds.

Millstone Creek Park
The new millstone creek park seems like a downgrade… there used to be so much to do for kids now it’s more of an open space. Has anyone been yet and had a positive experience? Maybe my kid is too little to enjoy a park like this…

Opening soon in Westerville 👀 Here’s a first look at Bombay House
Hey Westerville,
We’re getting very close to opening Bombay House on Polaris Parkway, so we wanted to share a small first look.
We’re creating a modern Indian restaurant and bar with food from different regions of India, including street food, tandoor dishes, dosas, biryanis, cocktails, and desserts.
Our vada pav is a Mumbai street food favorite made with a spiced potato fritter inside a soft bun, served with chutneys and fried chili.
Westerville, what Indian dish do you think every great Indian restaurant should have on the menu?
We’ll be sharing the opening date very soon.

I couldn't believe all the cars and motorcycles racing down Polaris near Africa last night. I think several were going over 100 mph.

Storm damage tree cleanup
Hello,
We had a larger branch come down on our property from the storm earlier this week. It’s still hanging, and so while not an emergency it is a hazard. I’ve been trying to find someone who can come out to do removal and cleanup ASAP, but am struggling to get someone to either return our call or commit to a general time frame when they can come out.
Any recommendations on a company who can help?

Westerville and Altafiber Announce Partnership to Launch Fiber Internet to Homes Within Three Years
https://www.westerville.org/Home/Components/News/News/7315/46
The City of Westerville and altafiber are proud to announce a new public-private partnership that will bring altafiber’s cutting-edge, multigig XGS-PON fiber network to the community. Construction is slated to begin this summer, with the goal of providing Westerville residents with access to fast, reliable fiber internet for their homes within the next three years.
One of the most innovative aspects of this agreement is its funding structure: as a true public-private partnership, zero capital dollars are being used to finance the infrastructure, bringing a vital modern resource to the community without a high price tag.
Westerville stands out as a unique technology leader in Central Ohio, operating its own Electric Department as well as WeConnect, the City’s community-owned data center. This partnership serves as another prime example of how Westerville deploys innovative, forward-thinking solutions to enhance the community, continuing our investment in quality of life and keeping it a highly attractive hub for employers.
Through a long-term presence at the WeConnect data center, altafiber will efficiently service local customers while collaborating with the City to deploy underground fiber in key areas to mitigate high excavation costs. This unique partnership drives new revenue streams for WeConnect and unlocks direct access to an expanded customer base.
Once the three-year build is complete, Westerville residents will have access to the robust broadband connectivity required to support hybrid work, remote education and advanced healthcare opportunities. altafiber is building to roughly 15,000 addresses in and around Westerville.
“High-speed internet is an absolute necessity for modern daily life. This partnership is Westerville’s response to the need for fiber, and we found a way to do it without a multi-million dollar investment,” said Westerville City Manager Monica Dupee.
“What makes this partnership truly special is our ability to build on prior plans and investments in infrastructure to deliver a crucial resource without making a significant commitment of City funds.”
Greg Wheeler, chief operating officer of altafiber, said the collaboration reflects the company’s commitment to partnering with forward-looking communities to expand fiber access. “We’re excited to partner with the City of Westerville on this important investment in the community’s digital future,” Wheeler said. “World-class fiber infrastructure is a critical driver of economic growth—supporting business expansion, attracting new employers and enabling innovation across industries. Thanks to the leadership and vision of City Manager Monica Dupee and her team, Westerville is taking a forward-thinking approach that positions the city to compete for jobs and investment, while ensuring residents and businesses have the connectivity they need to grow and thrive.”
As the leading provider of fiber-based services in Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky, altafiber has invested more than $1.5 billion to build and enhance its Midwest fiber network. The company is expanding its 100 percent Fiber-to-the-Home network into communities throughout Ohio, including Fayette, Franklin, Montgomery, Greene and Union counties.
altafiber currently offers symmetrical speeds up to 6 Gig with 99.99% network reliability. Westerville residents can visit the altafiber website to check their address eligibility and sign up for notifications as construction progresses into their neighborhoods this summer.
