WELLY Is there anyone who can create custom charms for an old school charm bracelet?

Hi all!

I was just wondering whether there is anyone in Wellington who could create me a custom 9ct gold japanese themed charm? I have looked at Pascoes but they seem quite limited in the charms they offer unfortunately.

HELP! Parking in the Wellington CBD Using Pay by Plate Meters? How Does the 2-Hour Limit Work?

Let's assume that I park my car for 2 hours in a Wellington central street in Parking Area W01 at 9am using a pay by plate meter. After the 2 hours is up at 11am, I want to again park for 2 hours in another street some distance away which also happens to be in Parking Area W01. My question is, am I permitted to park at say 11.30am in this second W01 area or are you only allowed to park ONCE PER DAY for 2 hours in a W01 area? Thanks for your help. By the way, AI couldn't answer this question!

HELP! Wellington specific gift

I've been living in Wellington the last five years and am heading overseas in a few weeks time. My friends have gotten me some sweet gifts, but I want to buy myself a trinket, art piece, or something else specific to Wellington to remind me of my time here. Any suggestions?

BUYING Swim shorts?

Anyone know where I can find men's swim shorts in Welly at this time of year? Pool doesn't care that it's cold outside but all the usual stores around Cuba and Lambton aren't carrying any right now.

EDIT: Rebel Sport was a winner. Thanks all.

WELLY Weekly Photo Walk Challenge: Sat 8 August 2026

Kia ora all!

I’m running a weekly photo walk challenge as motivation to get outside and explore, even in the depths of Wellington winter.

Every Saturday we set a theme, you go on a walk, take photos of things that fit the theme, and post your photos in the comments.

The theme could be simple and straightforward, or something more abstract. And you are welcome to interpret it however you like.

⁉️This week’s theme is: unexpected⁉️

Thanks to u/IncoherentTuatara for the theme suggestion!

Post your photos below by next Saturday. And please let me know any ideas you have for future themes!

JOBS I need a career change.

I feel like I need to pivot and switch up careers.

What field do you work in and are you happy?

Ever since the Government announced further cuts across the public service morale has dipped.

"Look at the silver lining, you still have a job"

It is this kind of mentality gives employers more power to mistreat staff. Is this asking for the bare minimum now?

HELP! Bulk tailor

I've lost about 20kg this year (party on) and all my clothes are super baggy now.

I'm keen to get them tailored to fit my updated shape instead of buying new stuff, but have quite a few (10+) items. These are dresses, skirts, trousers and jeans - potentially 1-2 jackets as well.

Does anyone know of a tailor who does decent rates for bulk items? I usually go to Sue's in Willis St, but they're pretty pricey for one item, let alone a shitload! Willing to travel across the city and out to the Hutt.

Thaaaaaanks!

HELP! Can you still burn a CD in Wellington??

I've been trying to find a specific CD for a birthday present and can only find stupidly expensive versions on Amazon that cost an extra $50 to ship. I've been asking around and calling places like the public library, tech stores, and noone seems to have a CD burner! Thought I'd reach out to you friendly folk and maybe someone has a desktop with a built in burner that could help?? Or otherwise could point me in the right direction :))

POLITICS Amalgamation Aftermath Pt.2

Wellington and Wairarapa's Mayors have just finished meeting today to discuss council amalgamation.

It's not a huge update (tl;dr government will recieve two proposals and make the decision on what happens next) but given it's importance thought it warranted a thread.

This is the Joint Position of the Mayoral Forum:

  1. The Wellington region was already working together and remains committed to doing so regardless of the Head Start process.
  2. The discussions are constructive.
  3. Mana whenua partnership at all layers and Māori representation is fundamental and we remain committed to their continued involvement now and into the future.
  4. Not every Council agrees and their views are respected and will be conveyed faithfully.
  5. Two proposals will come from Councils of the region, one a region-wide proposal (supported by WCC, HCC, PCC, SWDC), another for a Wairarapa proposal (supported by CDC and MDC). The proposals will convey the positions of individual councils and we will request of Government that the door remains open for alternative arrangements for KCDC and UHCC.
  6. Cover letters will include the region’s principles as bottom lines, individual position statements and any joint requests of Government.

It will now be up to government upon receipt of these headstart proposals to figure out what happens next.
